Chapter 397: Unexpected Guest ( 1 )
Five minutes later, several motorbikes left the gas station and drove to the border area. Half an hour later, the girl patted the man driving the motorbike in front of her and said, "Go to the right. There is a military base there."
The moment the man heard this, his eyes lit up. If they could find more weapons, they wouldn't have to worry about being unable to protect themselves.
He nodded and said, "Okay, Boss!"
Two hours later, they finally saw the military base's entrance. Unlike other places that were full of zombies, this place was empty while the gate was opened. The girl frowned when she saw this, but she didn't stop them.
After entering the military base, they drove around for a while until they saw the warehouse buildings. When they reached the warehouse, they parked their motorbikes and rushed to the nearest warehouse. The girl stored one of the motorbikes into her space before she followed them.
As soon as she stepped into the warehouse, she heard her team members curse loudly, "Damn it! There is nothing left here!"
The girl looked around and said, "Check the area first. We might be able to get something."
Although they were unwilling to follow the girl's order at first, the moment they met her gaze, their minds buzzed, and they listened to her.
Half an hour later, they found two rifles, a handgun, and several magazines. Seeing the weapons, she said, "Divide the weapons between you and check another warehouse."
The moment they heard this, they replied in unison, "Thank you, Boss!"
While the group of men went to the next warehouse, the girl went to the back of the warehouse. The moment she walked out from behind the wall, she saw a military chopper parked there.
Walking over, she checked the fuel and let out a sigh of relief when she saw that the tank was full. She checked everything for a while and nodded with satisfaction. With this chopper, she could go find her brother earlier.
Since the men didn't own a space, they could only stuff their backpacks with supplies until they were full and took several weapons. The rest of the supplies and weapons were taken away by the girl after they left the warehouse.
At noon, the girl turned to them and said, "Everyone, I plan to go to Lin'an City. We only formed a team temporarily. If you want to go to other places, you don't have to follow me."
The group of men looked at each other and exchanged meaningful glances. Since she already decided to leave, they wouldn't tag along with her. With so many weapons, they were sure that they would do well even without her.
After a moment, one of them said, "Boss, I want to go find my family. So, I won't go with you."
With one person taking the lead, the rest followed.
"Boss, I won't go with you, either."
"Me, too."
"I want to find my brother, so I won't go with you, Boss."
"Me, too."
The girl glanced at them and nodded before she said, "Since all of you have made up your minds, I won't have any objection."
After she finished her words, she turned around and walked to the back of the warehouse. The group of men thought that she would force them to stay with her.
After all, even though they were not as strong as her, with them around, her chance of survival would be higher. Unexpectedly, she left without hesitation.
Seeing this, one of them said, "Let's go."
Not long after they left the military base on their motorbikes, they heard the sound of a helicopter's propeller coming from the direction of the military base. Raising their heads, they were stunned to see the girl flying the helicopter.
As soon as they saw this, one of them shouted, "Fuck! That bitch is playing with us!"
All of them shared the same thought. If they had known that she could drive a helicopter and that she found one, they would have gone with her. But now that she had left, it was useless to regret their decisions!
While they were cursing, the girl had already flown the helicopter toward Lin'an City. Below her, she could see zombies everywhere and the destruction caused by battles between zombies and humans.
Almost two hours later, the sound of the propeller was heard at Lin'an City's border. Since she didn't fly too high, she could see the situation below clearly.
From the moment she crossed the border, she noticed that the situation in this city was much more under control compared to the other cities.
The number of zombies was less than in the nearby county town, as she would see group after group of ability-users or soldiers cleaning up the zombies. The roads were repaired, and cars, buses, and trucks were seen transporting supplies.
She didn't know the location of the Lin'an City Base, so she decided to follow a group of trucks transporting supplies.
Half an hour later, she saw a massive, tall wall spread out in the distance. From above, she could see that the base was built in several layers. There were a total of four walls surrounding the base. The outer wall was the tallest and widest.
On top of the wall, one guard was stationed every ten meters. Every five hundred meters, a small building similar to a fortress was built on top of the wall. From how the guards went in and out, that building might be used as a resting area.
The wall had a total of four main gates. Under the wall, several long lines could be seen outside the gates. From the length of the lines, she could roughly guess the number of people waiting to enter the base.
After she circled the base twice, she decided to land outside the south gate. The guards had already noticed a military chopper flying above the base and informed Wen Hanli about this matter.
