Chapter 108: Buying Solar Panels
"Let's talk." She stated and turned around, leaving no chance for Silas to decline. Silas could only follow her reluctantly.
He even made up his mind that if Talia dared to say anything against Ivy this time, he would argue with her.
"How are you now?" Talia's first question was expected by Silas, and he calmly responded with "I'm fine."
Talia pursed her lips before sighing, "I accept that I was too hasty in judging Ivy. She had truly changed. She seemed to care for you…"
Surprise flashed in Silas's eyes, and he was curious as to what Ivy had done to gain Talia's approval.
Sensing the question in her little brother's eyes, she explained, "She had stayed by your side 24/7 except for going back to the apartment to make food for herself."
Talia justified Ivy leaving the hospital as her going back to have a lunch break.
Silas pursed his lips, his heart ached at the thought of how much Ivy must have suffered because of him, and he wanted nothing more than to hug her and thank her for her hard work.
"Anyways… I won't stop her from being together with you. But if someday I realize that she is a threat to you, I won't hesitate to be the villain."
Before Silas could say anything further, she raised her hand and stopped him, "Coming back to the topic. Father had asked you to take rest and brief you about the situation. So listen carefully, because from the time you have fallen unconscious, too many things have happened."
Silas frowned, his expression turned grim, and he nodded at her, motioning her to continue.
"The government may not continue to supply us the food because of the flood. Heavy rainfall had occurred in various states and cities of Country U. One of the states was the place where the ration for the next 20 years had been stored. Unfortunately, only 30% of them were salvaged…"
Talia's words heavily implied the upcoming dangers. Riots… looting will eventually start. Humans without food will lose strength and will become food for zombies instead.
"Even typhoid fever and giardiasis have started to spread fast. If this continued, the human population would rapidly decline, and we would be on the losing end."
"What about the medicine which he had requested from the higher authorities?" Silas asked with a frown.
Talia clenched her fist; her rapidly turning cold eyes told Silas about the storm in her heart. "That b*stard Frank is using his connection to withhold the medicine."
"What?" Silas felt that he was mishearing something. How can Frank withhold the medicines?
"The government had dispatched a batch of medicine to our base, but before the truck could reach us, it was intercepted and looted by a group of people called Black Vultures. The problem was, other than father and Frank, no one else knew about the medicine being dispatched. Now that b*stard Frank is shifting all the blame on dad and asking dad to resign from his position as compensation."
Silas gritted his teeth. Good! Good! That b*stard Frank has become so capable that he even dared to scheme against his fellow comrade.
Taking a deep breath, Silas patted Talia's shoulder and said, "No need to worry, I will try to salvage it."
The general implication of Talia's words was, if they didn't get back the batch of medicine, they might be demoted and worse… Frank might use this opportunity to completely kick the Blackthorn out of the military.
Silas admitted that Frank was indeed very intelligent and clever. Of course, if he knew that the mastermind was someone else… he might not have reacted that way.
.........….
Ivy woke up the next day due to hunger and took a quick shower before contacting the anxious Atlas.
After Ivy had canceled the meeting, Atlas was worried that she would break the deal midway, or she might have found the price too high.
Though Ivy had told him that a family emergency had arisen and hence she couldn't meet him, he was still anxious.
Each day, he messaged her and sent her 'good morning' and 'good night' in the hopes of reminding her that he was still waiting for her to rearrange the meeting.
Just yesterday, she completely ignored his message, and he almost had a heart attack; luckily, she called him this morning and arranged for a meeting right away.
His hanging heart relaxed even more when he saw a Jeep Wrangler arriving near his warehouse.
The moment the car stopped in front of him and the window rolled down, he saw a beautiful woman with her pink hair cascading down like a waterfall, her stunning pink irises locked on his eyes, and he was lost for a moment.
"Are you Atlas?" Her melodious voice broke his daze, and he beamed, nodding his head like a chicken pecking.
She exited the car, and Atlas noticed heavy bags on the passenger seats and beamed. This customer is legit.
Meanwhile, Ivy raised her eyebrow in surprise when she realized that the zombies around the area were very less and a few black suit bodyguards were fighting them.
She immediately understood how this big shot was able to protect his stocks from getting stolen. Her peripheral view caught sight of the warehouse.
It was colossal and closely resembled the size of the white house.
"I will show you around."Noticing Ivy's curiosity, Atlas offered, earning an appreciative nod from Ivy.
Soon, they entered the warehouse, and Atlas led her inside. Various solar panels, solar cookers, solar ovens, and solar generators appeared in Ivy's view, and her heart finally relaxed.
So the seller was indeed a genuine seller. After inspecting the devices, Ivy reached the conclusion that the devices were fine.
"I will buy 20 solar panels, 5 solar cookers, 5 solar ovens, and 10 solar generators for now," Ivy stated, and Atlas was delighted.
Ivy's sentence held the word 'now', meaning he can expect more business opportunities in the future.
"Sure! Sure! I will ask my men to pack the items up for you."
