Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 109: Checkpoint

Soon, Atlas motioned his bodyguards to load the solar panels, solar cooker, solar oven, and solar generators in a truck, while Ivy, with the help of a few bodyguards, unloaded the food.

Each of them did their work with utmost sincerity, and none of them harbored any thoughts about betraying Atlas and snatching away the supplies, which puzzled Ivy greatly.

In the apocalypse, no one hired any bodyguards when the matter concerned food-related matters.

Why? The employee could easily deceive or even kill the employer for the food.

Later, after getting along with Atlas, Ivy came to know that these bodyguards were some of the kids Atlas had been sponsoring since childhood.

Atlas checked the food supplies, and when he was sure that they were genuine, he was delighted.

Soon, Ivy arrived at the military compound's gate, which had now transformed into a base checkpoint. The moment Ivy appeared, the guard looked at the truck, then at Ivy, and asked in an indifferent tone,

"What is inside the truck?"

Seeing an unfamiliar guard, Ivy's brows furrowed, but she replied honestly, "Solar panels and solar-related equipment."

The guard didn't let Ivy pass and asked the other guard to check Ivy's truck instead. Ivy didn't show much resistance.

They were doing their job, and it wasn't her place to intervene.

It took only several minutes for the guards to check the solar panels before he arrived near Ivy's car and calmly stated,

"You will need to follow us to another security point."

Ivy's instinct told her that something was amiss; however, her face remained impassive as she quibbled,

"Why? As far as I know, if the things I am carrying inside aren't explosives or weapons, I can carry whatever I want without getting checked."

The guard frowned and looked at Ivy as if he were looking at some kind fi disobedient child, and his face turned cold as he used a slightly loud voice to display his authority,

"Miss Ivy, don't force me to use an extreme method. Currently, you are challenging the base's authority by not letting me check properly."

"I am asking a basic question, if even that seems like a challenge of authority, I wonder just how fragile the ego of those in higher positions is."

The guard's face turned pale when he realized that with just one statement, Ivy was able to draw others' attention, and that maybe someone in a higher authority was orchestrating everything.

He gritted his teeth before forcing a calm smile on his face,

"Miss Ivy, you are misunderstanding. I just want to double-check. If you can cooperate, I will not be forced to involve Mr. Silas in this matter."

Understanding the implication behind his words, Ivy froze for a mere second, a glint flashed in her eye, and she smirked.

"Alright then. I will cooperate."

The guard heaved a sigh of relief, and soon Ivy's car, the truck, and the guard appeared in a secluded corner.

Once far away from the human audience, the earlier fear on the guard's face vanished too, followed by a disdainful look in his eyes.

He did a surface-level check before stating," You will need to leave the solar equipment. We will dismantle all of them and check if they contain any kind of explosives or weapons."

Ivy chuckled; she kind of expected such a d*ck moment. Instead of becoming furious, she calmly stared at the guard and stated,

"Do you think I am a fool? Once I leave, you all will hand over these to your master, who will keep these supplies to himself, or worse, use this equipment as a tool to frame the Blackthorn family?"

The guard's face turned dark when he realized that Ivy had seen through his plan. He sneered, "You are truly smart. Unfortunately, your smartness won't save you this time."

With that, he motioned to the other guard who understood the first guard's expression, and rushed toward Ivy to knock her out. As long as Ivy becomes unconscious, they can do whatever they want!

A few of the bodyguards who were sitting in the truck sensed the tense atmosphere and got out of the truck one by one, forming a protective line around Ivy.

'She is our food goddess, and we will protect her till the end of our lives. Who dared to harm our golden goose! I will kill them all!' All of them thought simultaneously, and their malevolent expression caused the guards to be dumbfounded.

The guards took a step back and wondered for a moment if they should take action or not. The bodyguards in front of them looked way too strong!

Ivy was amused by the bodyguard's move. Even without their intervention, she would have dealt with these minions. However, their action moved her a little, and she decided to give them a little delivery fee at the end.

"Let's go," Ivy stated in her calm voice, making the bodyguard retract their dangerous aura, and only after they escorted Ivy back to her car did they return to the truck.

The guards looked from the sideline but didn't dare to follow.

'Ugh! I missed such a good opportunity because of those strong men! If only that lamb were all alone… I should report to General Frank. At least for the information, he would give me some reward.' The first guard thought.

The second guard, however, was one step ahead and thought,

'That Ivy is truly lucky… she was able to buy so much solar equipment.. Just how much food does she have to be able to buy this much solar equipment? Wait… was that day the one who had posted the query about the solar panels was her? Sh*t… if that's the case, I need to report it to General Frank.'

Unaware of what was going on in the minds of the two guards, Ivy reached Talia's private training area and said to the bodyguards,

"Can you guard the area? I will transport all these with the help of my boyfriend."
