Chapter 101: Owe
Silas's words made Ivy's heart skip a beat. He knew? But how… She thought that she had hidden it well.
Looking at the certainty in his eyes, Ivy realized how foolish she was. There were obvious signs, and her softened attitude didn't help much.
"I don't…" Ivy began to decline her feelings when Silas interrupted, "If you dare to decline… I will have sex with you on the table. Let's see how long you can maintain the facade then."
Ivy: (o_0)! No… this was not how the conversation was supposed to go.
Silas smirked seeing the speechless expression on Ivy's face and continued,
"Ivy, I will make it clear to you. I love you. I can't be without you. Earlier, I always thought that as long as I maintained the distance and respected you, maybe you would come around. But now…"
He paused at looked at Ivy's face, which had turned slightly crimson, and continued, "I think even after I wait for 100 years… you won't accept your feelings."
"I…" Ivy opened her mouth to argue, but Silas again cut her off, this time his eyes holding a bit of fierceness.
"Why Ivy? I have done everything that you wanted. I acted foolishly and let myself fall into various traps because I wanted to keep you safe. I endured the Ravencroft, and I even went as far as declining the obvious sign that told me you liked me. But nothing worked. Why?"
Ivy couldn't even utter a single word. The Silas now in front of her looked completely different from the Silas she had seen before, and she sensed that something was off about him.
"Silas… you… What happened to you? Are you hurt about something?" Ivy asked tentatively, her hands slowly reached toward Silas's, and she tried to pat on it, but Silas interwove them and looked at Ivy.
"I saw something, Ivy. A dream." Silas began's his eyes slowly turned a bit bloodshot, "In that you were chased by Ronan and his minions."
Ivy's heart skipped a bit, and her eyes widened a little. Silas saw that? Ivy knew what scene Silas might have seen…
The only time she was ever chased by Ronan and his cronies was when she was escaping for the third time.
But the question was… why did he see that scene? It was something only Ivy had suffered. The questions in her mind came to an abrupt halt when Silas tightened his grip on Ivy's hand and asked,
"I saw you suffering. Running away with various marks on your body. You kept on begging for mercy, but they didn't show any. At first, I was furious, but now… a question haunts me… where was I at that time? The scars on your body and your weight told me that you had suffered for a long time. So where was I then? Why didn't I rescue you? You must know something, right? Tell me!"
"You were dead! You died because of me." Ivy shouted. Her entire body had turned cold at that point. A lump formed in her throat, and staring at Silas became increasingly difficult.
She tried to pull away her hand, but Silas refused, and in the end, she could only slump her shoulders.
"You died while saving me, Silas. And you are destined to die while saving me if you continue to love me so much." Her voice, devoid of emotions, echoed in the dining room.
Silas froze but soon regained his composure. He had indeed thought of this possibility, yet it still came to him as a shock.
"How? How did I die?" He asked as he stared at her intently, "And why didn't any of my subordinates or family members help you?"
Ivy's expression froze, and she shook her head, "They did help, but I can't see what their outcome was."
She couldn't tell the truth to Silas. She couldn't bear to tell him that his subordinates had taken care of her after his death, but they died during one of the battles.
She couldn't bear to tell him that all his family members were dead and didn't know that Ivy had suffered so much. If they knew… maybe they would have danced in joy.
Silas observed Ivy's expression and said calmly, "Did I truly die while saving you?"
"Hm." Ivy nodded, hoping that Silas would understand the danger and stay away from her, but to her surprise, she saw him smiling.
"If that's the case, then you owe me a life-saving grace." His words were slow and deliberat,e as if to grind them in Ivy's mind.
Ivy nodded, agreeing, "I do."
She thought that he might demand some kind of compensation or even ask her to stay away from him.
"Good that you have self-awareness." Silas said softly, "Since it's the future, it can still be changed, but I might have saved you in one of the previous lives. Considering that, you will have to listen to my words from now on."
"But, if I stay near you, I might cause your…" Ivy couldn't finish her words, but Silas only chuckled,
"Don't worry, going forward, I will make sure to never die before."
He truly couldn't bear it. Seeing Ivy's condition, he realized that if he died earlier than she, she might be captured by someone and be experimented on.
He even concluded that maybe someone must have come to know about the existence of the space Ivy holds, and hence, she was experimented on.
Anyways, he would make sure to live long enough to catch whoever had experimented on Ivy and kill them all one by one.
Though… it seems that Ivy was still hiding something from him, he didn't push her. He just needs to trap her properly this time.
Otherwise, like a slippery eel, she would continue to evade him.
"I have read novels where the female lead, to repay the male lead, gives him her first time." Silas began, there was no trace of shame on his face as if he were talking about the weather.
"I won't ask for your first time." Silas gently continued while staring at Ivy's shocked expression, "Just be my wife. That is what you owe me."
