Chapter 100: Like
"Tell me the conversion rate." She asked with gritted teeth.
[100 low tiers will convert into 1 mid-tier space crystal.]
"Sh*t! Sh*t! If I had known earlier, I would have collected more." Ivy muttered under her breath and then commanded, "Convert."
[Converting… 10 mid-tier space crystals acquired. Would you like to upgrade?]
"Yes," Ivy repeated with a sigh, her face drained of color, and she thought in her heart,
'If the upgrade doesn't offer me anything great, I would strangle this temporal storage!'
[Processing….]
From there, Ivy waited a long time, but the Temporal Storage didn't reply at all. She even tried to enter the Temporal Storage but couldn't do so at all.
"Maybe the upgrade will take a while." Ivy thought, feeling bored, she decided to kill some of the zombies and collect space crystals to absorb them.
She left the apartment and returned to the Skyline Residential area, planning to hone her skills.
From afternoon to evening, Ivy killed more than 700 zombies and obtained approximately 100 space crystals.
Feeling tired, she rested in the Ravencroft apartment before leaving for the military compound.
On the way, Ivy saw many refugees rushing toward the military compound. Two extra checkpoints were added.
Luckily, the soldier at the checkpoints recognized Ivy and let her pass, asking her to remind Silas to make a residential pass for her.
After returning to the apartment, Ivy watched helplessly. Silas was cooking again. Doesn't he know how to be tired?
Based on the base's progress, it was clear that the military was at its busiest point, and yet here he was, busy making food for her.
"You are here? Go and take a shower, the dinner is almost here." Silas said softly, his eyes holding a trace of concern he couldn't hide.
Ivy's brows furrowed. Why was Silas concerned? However, she didn't voice out her thoughts, thinking he wanted to talk about something very important.
After returning to the guest bedroom, she realized that there was no water in the shower. Having no choice, she went to Silas's bathroom and took a quick shower.
She waved her hand to take out her clothes from space but soon realized that her space wasn't responding to her.
Habits are scary… Previously, she never thought about taking clothes with her or the shower problem in her bedroom, but now…
Ivy peeked out and saw that there was no one in the bedroom. Slowly, she came out of the bathroom and was about to find something from Silas's wardrobe to wear when the door was opened.
Her eyes widened as she looked at Silas like a deer caught in headlights. Her grip on the towel tightened, while her ears turned red. In her mind, just three words repeated.
'I am doomed! I am doomed!'
Silas blinked before calmly asking, "Do you want clothes?"
A trace of disappointment appeared in her eyes as she nodded. Why was he so calm? Doesn't he feel anything?
Silas walked up to the wardrobe, and soon he found a t-shirt that he used to wear in middle school and gave it to Ivy.
Ivy took the t-shirt, and her eyes involuntarily landed at the place where they shouldn't. Her eyes widened in surprise.
Silas was wearing grey sweatpants, and the outline of his hard cock was so perfectly visible that even Ivy could see it.
He was hard…
"Don't… Ivy…" Silas's hoarse voice sounded near Ivy's ear, and she looked up in surprise, only for her lips to brush against Silas's lips.
An involuntary moan escaped Silas's lips, and he finally couldn't hold it anymore.
Silas's hands trembled slightly as he cupped Ivy's face. Their eyes locked, both of them frozen for a breathless second.
Then, slowly, he leaned in again, their lips meeting in a kiss, gentle at first, hesitant, as if testing boundaries neither had dared cross before.
Ivy's eyes fluttered shut. Her fingers clutched the soft fabric of his t-shirt, anchoring herself to the moment.
His lips were warm, and his touch was surprisingly tender, so different from the ruthless soldier everyone knew. It was like he was afraid she would disappear if he wasn't careful enough.
As the kiss deepened, something inside Ivy gave way. Her heart beat wildly in her chest, and warmth spread through her, wrapping around her like a soft, invisible blanket.
She kissed him back, pouring in all the emotions she had kept hidden, the fear, the loneliness, and something else she didn't want to name yet.
Silas pulled her closer, one hand sliding to the back of her head, cradling it gently, while the other rested lightly on her back. It wasn't rushed. It wasn't lustful.
It was… full of longing. As if he had waited forever.
When they finally parted, breathless, their foreheads touched. Silas then moved toward her nape, and Ivy, who had been dazed till now, suddenly snapped out of it and lightly pushed him away.
Silas, sensing her resistance, didn't continue to push his luck. Instead, he reluctantly pulled away. "Go and change, otherwise you will catch a cold."
With that, he rushed to the bathroom, leaving Ivy staring at the ground with shame. A trace of complex expression appeared in her eyes.
Taking a deep breath, she quickly wore the whit t-shirt that reached her knees and walked out. Soon, Silas returned, and they both had dinner.
The tense atmosphere broke when Silas asked softly, "What happened? Are you angry with me?"
Ivy shook her head, "No, I just… Silas… don't stay near me."
She didn't explain the meaning behind her words, but she expected Silas to be hurt and maintain distance.
Silas froze before looking at Ivy with a deep gaze, "Why do you do that?"
"Huh?" Ivy was taken aback by such cryptic words. Her pink iris crashed into Silas's deep gaze.
"Why do you keep on pushing me, Ivy? I can feel it. You like me. You are dependent on me. And you even easily tell me about all your secrets. So why? Why can't you be with me?"
