Chapter 150: Preaching Outside the City

"Sir Wild, do you have any suggestions?" Miss Rabbit asked.

"I suggest we focus all our efforts on attacking the southern wall," Wild replied.

"But I just used the Three-eyed Divine Bird to check, and it seems the army stationed on the eastern wall is a bit smaller."

"However, the southern wall is easier to breach," Wild said. "That wall collapsed during a heavy rain last year. I had it rebuilt, but it's not as sturdy as it was before.

"So I had it reinforced with wooden beams, and before I left, I planned for our return by having those beams removed from under the wall."

Upon hearing this, the Lady's eyes lit up. "You mean..."

"That's right, the wall might look fine on the surface, but if it takes a hit, especially a strong impact, it will likely collapse again.

"And you just happen to have Italian Cannons. One or two might not be enough, but if all of them fire together, it should blow open that southern wall."

The Family Head of the Singleton Family certainly lived up to his reputation as the master of this town; no one knew it better than he did.

Duren added at this point, "We can pretend to attack the northern wall to draw the guards' attention, and then bring out all thirty-three Italian Cannons to take down the southern wall in one shot.

"The guards inside the city would never expect it, nor would they have time to react, that is, if the Wing Tribe hasn't discovered our Italian Cannons."

After the major battle more than a month ago, surely the defeated troops who fled back brought news of the Italian Cannons with them, but who knows how seriously the people in the city take it.

Of course, some might just see it as an excuse by the defeated troops.

Moreover, Miss Rabbit also had a plan; at Songshi Castle, bored and idle, she had craftsmen build some Siege Towers, which weren't used in the battle with Ilkand, but she brought them this time for attacking Fertile Point.

These wooden towers can carry soldiers to the walls and also gunners, thus providing some level of anti-aircraft capability.

If the Wing Tribe doesn't show up, that's fine, but if they do and dare approach the Siege Towers, the Lady will have a big surprise for them.

After finalizing the battle strategy, Miss Rabbit didn't rush to start the fight, as it was almost the weekend.

Since the enemy inside had prepared for their attack long enough, waiting two more days wouldn't matter, so the Lady decided to camp and let the army rest.

In the afternoon, everyone gathered to listen to a sermon; the scene was quite spectacular.

Except for a few who were on guard duty, everyone else put down their weapons and sat on the ground.

The Sabbath preacher, holding a megaphone, turned the volume to maximum, discussing the importance of obeying rules.

He used the Wing Tribe as an example to illustrate the consequences of angering the Sabbath.

The megaphone was loud enough for even the keen-eared guards on the walls to hear, and they were impressed by the miraculous methods of the Double Rest Sect.

At the same time, they finally heard about the Divine Punishment that befell the Wing Tribe.

This had been a taboo topic in Fertile Point for a long time.

Though they had heard some rumors, they still didn't fully understand what had happened in Lake City during that time.

It wasn't until this outdoor sermon by the Double Rest Sect that they learned the invincible Wing Tribe army was almost entirely wiped out.

No wonder so few Wing Tribe members returned recently; many assumed the army went straight back to Lion Heart Castle after defeat.

But little did they know, their corpses piled up on the hills outside Lake City, and even the birds in the sky were affected by the dreadful Divine Punishment, falling alongside them.

The walls were abuzz with conversation, and the terrifying rumors spread throughout the city.

Some couldn't resist stirring, as the Singleton Family had ruled Fertile Point for hundreds of years, with a decent reputation among the people.

Many still hoped Wild would return to Fertile Point, especially some nobles within the city. Some had already gone with Wild to Green Field, while others sought refuge elsewhere.

The remaining nobles, reluctant to leave their properties, had pledged allegiance to the Wing Tribe but lived less well than before, certainly longing for Wild's return.

And these nobles frequently gathered in secret after hearing of Solomon's defeat.

Their private meetings were becoming more frequent, and today, during daylight, some were eager to meet at their usual spot again.

But this time, they were met by a group of guards, who captured them without chance for explanation and dragged them to an alley to behead them.

This incident served as a deterrent, reducing secret gatherings in the city significantly.

Yet many still yearned for the return of Fertile Point's rightful owner.

Patrolling soldiers even found some cedars secretly carved with Sabbath's Divine Pattern, which worried the army's Commander.

As he finished his patrol and returned home, he found a guest waiting for him.

"Sir Ebrusus," the man said, standing up with a smile, "You're back."

"Tanison, what brings you here?" Ebrusus frowned upon recognizing the guest.

"I heard you had a lot of people executed this morning. Since everyone knows our relationship, they asked me to talk with you."

"Everyone? Who are they?" Ebrusus asked, looking displeased.

"I'm sorry, I can't say."

Ebrusus snorted, "Then you can leave. Prepare yourself; I suspect the Westerners will attack soon."

But the guest didn't move and said, "Actually, the reason I came is to discuss this. The Wing Tribe suffered a great defeat in the west, and what's worse, most of them were wiped out by Divine Punishment on the Sabbath. Do you still intend to serve them?"

Ebrusus glared at Tanison, "If you weren't married to my sister, I'd already kill you for those words."

"But that won't change the current defeat, will it? The Wing Tribe has already left."

"You're wrong, aren't there two of them still here?"

"Two people can't change the outcome of a war," Tanison replied. "Admit it, Ebrusus, the Wing Tribe has abandoned us, so why do you still fight?"

"I'm not fighting for the Wing Tribe," Ebrusus's expression changed, full of uncertainty.

"My wife, brother, and two sons are in their hands. If I can't hold Fertile Point, that Wing Tribe woman named Lannita will kill them all."

Tanison, who had prepared many arguments, was taken aback by this revelation.

Ebrusus ignored him and said, "I don't want to hear any more suggestions of surrender. Even if it comes from your mouth, I'll still kill you."
