Chapter 149: Return to Fertile Point

Gunn spent four days clearing the area within a radius of tens of miles, breaking up and annihilating more than ten groups of bandits and rescuing hundreds of women who were kidnapped.

Initially, they thought they could take a break for two days, but unexpectedly, they were approached by a group of unexpected guests.

Those people were villagers from other places, who had somehow heard about the Double Rest Sect coming to help eliminate bandits, so they came for help, and some even brought their only few gold coins.

This money was secretly hidden by them before, and wasn't robbed by those bandits. Now, they voluntarily offered it, just hoping someone could provide them protection and give them a way to live.

Gunn was a bit troubled by this, as his duty was to protect Adelle and other Sabbath warriors. If bandits were nearby, he could deal with them casually, but if they ran too far, he might not be able to return in time if something really happened.

Moreover, the villagers mentioned that near Long Table Town, there was a very formidable group of bandits numbering over a hundred people, whose weapons and armor were more refined than general bandits, suspected to be a disguised troop under some Noble.

Gunn did not fear these people but didn't want to stir up additional trouble either.

He looked at Adelle, who, sure enough, had a slight frown, but her brows soon relaxed, and she asked Gunn, "How are the militia you recruited training?"

Gunn said, "During the days I was out, I asked Flos to teach them some basic combat techniques. However, the time was too short for them to master them quickly, although Fros mentioned that some of them had some foundation.

"Flos asked those few people, and they said they had been militia before. Though they're older, as long as they can eat well, adjust their health, and are equipped with weapons, they do have some fighting strength, except they're too few in number."

"Perhaps we can gather people from nearby villages who can fight," Adelle suggested.

Gunn was stunned by these words but quickly understood the female soldier's meaning, "Hmm, that's indeed a way... If we can gather fifty or sixty people, ordinary bandits would find it hard to gain the upper hand against them."

Adelle still bit her lip, "Those bandits don't come here to plunder; they'll go to harm other villages. Only by eradicating those guys can the people here lead normal lives."

"Rely on these people who have only trained for a few days?" Gunn shook his head, "These militiamen might guard the village, but expecting them to solve all the bandits isn't realistic, and those bandits run faster than them anyway."

"What if we add ourselves?" said Adelle, unwilling to give up.

"Add ourselves?"

"I know the Black Dog Guards' warriors are very brave and extremely loyal to Lord Sabbath, but your number is a bit small. If we could recruit more people and you lead them, could we not eliminate more bandits and save more villages?"

Gunn seriously contemplated for a moment and felt this suggestion was quite feasible. However, before he could speak, a woman named Lucy Housi reminded them.

"Are we allowed to start an army without the local Lord's consent?"

Adelle also realized, "Oh, this area is under Lord Wild's domain. I can write to him, as he is also a follower of Lord Sabbath and surely won't oppose."

"What about other places?" Lucy asked again.

"I don't know, let's first help Lord Wild eliminate the bandits in his territory, and take it step by step."

Adelle at this moment was unaware of how many people her decision would save in the future, nor the troubles it would bring to Double Rest Sect and her friend Ireya.

Just as the female soldier said, she simply hoped to help more people at this time.

Meanwhile, Ireya had also led her army to reach the Fertile Point.

This town located at the westernmost part of the Golden Valley had its gates tightly shut, with walls crowded with guards, appearing alert and vigilant.

Wild had been swearing outside the city gates for half a day, yet no one came out, only sporadic arrows fell at the beginning.

But Wild was fully armored and stood afar, so the arrows fell weak before reaching him.

Of course, Wild did not lower his guard; cursing while attentively observing the city's movements, ready to turn and run as soon as Wing Tribe people flew out.

Face might be trivial, but life is the priority. However, it's unknown if those Wing Tribe people feared the Resistance Army's flintlock guns and the White Queen, as they managed to keep a low profile, with none showing themselves until now.

Wild, tired from cursing, conveniently returned as the army arrived. After hearing his report on the city's situation, the Lady immediately requested a female soldier to release the Three-eyed Divine Bird, flying towards the city.

As the drone continued to climb, the scenery on the walls quickly became clear.

It was evident that the city guards were well-prepared, with ample arrows, stones, and rolling woods. Besides archers, each wall was also equipped with many spearmen and swordsmen.

Miss Rabbit even spotted four catapults. According to Wild, those catapults weren't originally part of the city, possibly newly built recently for defense.

The Lady wasn't worried about those catapults, as they weren't accurate, posing a threat only if in large numbers. With just four, their effect was minimal.

As the drone continued flying forward, Miss Rabbit finally spotted a Wing Tribe person standing on a small plaza with several Noble-like individuals. That Wing Tribe person noticed the strange aerial object.

But before he could see clearly, Miss Rabbit immediately ordered the Three-eyed Divine Bird to return.

She recalled Li Yu mentioning it, saying it was quite valuable and rare even in Divine Country. Not wanting it to be brought down here, she urgently called it back.

Despite only several tens of seconds, she gleaned substantial information, such as estimating two to thirty thousand guards in the city. Although Wing Tribe people were there, their giant dragons weren't seen.

The Lady didn't know if this was good news.

Nevertheless, it seemed those Wing Tribe people were unwilling to accept defeat in the western region and wished to have a proper bout here.

After retrieving the drone, Ireya pondered over how to fight the upcoming battle, noticing Wild appeared to have something to say.
