Chapter 76: Entering the Ruins, Titan's Hammer
Following the passageway into the base, the first thing that caught their eyes was a giant plaza.
Richard estimated that this plaza was about the size of a small city.
However, considering the immense size of the Titans, such a large plaza seemed normal.
Above the plaza floated a blue fireball, which appeared to be the same entity as the automatic fortress outside.
However, this fortress was not eroded by the special rules of this dimension and did not actively hunt flesh creatures.
The edge of the plaza featured three completely dark gates, corresponding to three sides of the plaza.
Richard's spiritual power surged forth, attempting to explore the structure behind them, but all he encountered was darkness.
"Hmm? Could it be teleportation gates?"
Richard furrowed his brows, attempting to probe the metal floor beneath his feet with his spiritual power. But when his spiritual power entered the floor, it felt as though he was entering a blob of glue, with great difficulty penetrating only a little bit.
"Materials that prevent spiritual power probing? How extravagant," Richard muttered to himself.
As a Five Rings Great Wizard, materials that could block his spiritual power were rare, yet here in this base, such materials were used as floor tiles.
This could truly be considered luxurious.
However, for a race like the Titans, who could shepherd stars, resources seemed to be of no great importance.
Moreover, given the Titans' mastery of the Four Elements, they could likely craft ordinary materials using free elements and energy.
"Shall we take a look around separately?" Richard suggested to Ulysses. "It's likely there won't be any danger inside this base, and we can explore more efficiently if we split up."
"Gah, sure."
Ulysses was also a visitor with clearance, able to access the same areas Richard could.
The two split up, with Richard choosing the gate directly facing the entrance of the plaza, while Ulysses opted for the gate on the left.
Upon entering the gate, Richard immediately sensed a distortion in the surrounding space.
As he had expected, these three gates were indeed teleportation gates.
Soon, the space around Richard stabilized.
Suddenly, his eyes brightened, and a world resembling a giant's domain appeared before him.
"Wow, is this supposed to be Titan territory?"
Looking at the forest filled with trees over a thousand meters tall, Richard didn't need to think twice to realize he had arrived at Titan territory.
He released his spiritual power, beginning to gather information about this world. He was quickly astonished to discover that this space seemed to be a world within the Material World.
"Did they use a World Seed, or did they simply transport a miniature world from the Material World?"
A trace of shock flashed through Richard's mind as he marveled at Titan technology, which felt like the work of gods.
Leaving the teleportation gate, Richard started exploring this space.
This space contained numerous grand structures, many looking like they were carved from mountains, overwhelmingly magnificent.
However, within these structures, Richard found no traces of corpses.
Not even alchemy puppets.
It was as if the Titans that lived here had anticipated their own deaths, preparing burial sites ahead of time and deactivating internal machinery.
This space was vast, almost qualifying as a miniature world, and its energy concentration was not far off from an ordinary Great World.
Along the way, Richard encountered many demonized plants he had never seen before.
In ordinary worlds, each of these plants could be considered as heavenly materials and earthly treasures, the kind of resource a protagonist would find after a cliff fall, gaining decades of power after consumption.
But in this world, these things were mere roadside weeds or field crops.
Yes, this world indeed had farmland.
Vast plains were dotted with earth vein nodes, each corresponding to a plant resembling a rubber tree.
The Galaxy Mayfly's strategic technology of artificial earth vein nodes was merely agricultural technology to the Titans.
After a flight around, Richard couldn't help but sigh at the disparity between civilizations.
Compared to civilizations like the Shepherd Star Titan and the Supreme Ones, Wizards were akin to infants just out of swaddling.
"However, everyone has to go through infancy, and once Wizards mature, they will definitely not be weaker than these civilizations."
After spending nearly a month circling the periphery of the space,
Richard began to explore the depths of the space.
Having observed the entire perimeter, he could ascertain that the earth veins of this world were a gigantic magic array structure.
The Titans had created a nearly world-sized super large magic array through controlling the earth veins, and the core of this array lay at the center of this space.
Richard stood in the air, gazing ahead.
Within his sight stood a structure resembling the mythological Babel Tower, occupying the center of this space.
Richard let out a light laugh.
"Seems like the aesthetic of the big guys is fairly consistent."
...
The Titans' architecture was extraordinarily magnificent, as grand as if forged by heavens and earth, products of nature.
But nature has its limits.
When a structure becomes grand beyond conventional imagination, people discard the notion that it is natural.
Because in this world, the might of life surpasses that of the heavens and earth.
"What grand architecture this is."
Richard gazed at the towering Babel Tower in the distance, unable to suppress a sigh.
At this moment, he had already unleashed his true form, and even without exerting his full strength, his height exceeded seven hundred meters, which in an ordinary world would suffice as a small mountain.
But at the foot of this structure, Richard felt his height was completely normal.
So normal that he didn't even feel like he had unleashed his true form.
Richard gently touched the magnificent tower, noting that its material was extremely special, possessing strong compression resistance. Its material also combined hardness and flexibility, almost making it the perfect construction material.
Without a doubt, this material is definitely the perfect material synthesized by the Titans using the Four Elements Creation technique.
Richard looked inside the tower and felt an extremely strong energy wave.
"Main control, do I have the authority over this tower?"
[You have the exploration and usage rights of all buildings, and a certain degree of destruction is also permitted.]
"What is this certain degree?"
[It does not destroy the overall stability of this space]
Richard looked towards the depths of the building, runes appearing one by one on his body.
"That's good."
Entering the tower, Richard once again felt a spatial shift.
The internal space of this tower had been reinforced by someone, seemingly to seal something.
The inside of the tower was almost devoid of clutter, with only one after another lifeless Titan corpse, which would disperse into ashes at the slightest touch.
These Titans were only about ten meters tall, appearing to be juvenile members of the Shepherd Star Titan race.
Through spiritual power observation, Richard noticed the marks of injury and struggle on these Titan corpses, as if they had voluntarily come to this tower to die.
The number of layers in this tomb tower is unknown, with each one filled with corpses.
A Spark Base of a Civilization Alliance could not possibly hold just a few stray cats.
Richard began exploring from the middle of the tower. After confirming that the tower only contained corpses, he went straight to the source of the energy wave—the tower's lower level.
Thud!
As if it sensed Richard's arrival, the energy wave suddenly intensified. The suddenly increased energy wave turned countless Titan corpses into ashes.
Richard's expression did not change; considering the situation of the Guardian Titan, he already had a suspicion about what the Titans had sealed.
Thud!
The energy wave intensified again, and this time, a voice suddenly emerged by Richard's ear.
"Intruder, please come to the basement of the tower. I am the last of the Titan race, and I have something to say to you."
As this voice appeared, the Wizard Dimension Power and the Power of Gods' Dimension within Richard's soul suddenly stirred.
A power from an unknown source silently invaded Richard's soul.
"Heh, I knew it."
Richard sneered inwardly, knowing full well that this voice was certainly a trick of the sealed creature.
The Guardian Titan's initial attack was not just the result of dimension erosion. It entered slumber because of the Demon Lord's power erosion.
This is also why it voluntarily allowed itself to be burned by the Miracle Fire.
The Miracle Fire can burn the Demon Lord's power as fuel, even if it means burning its own soul, the Guardian Titan was willing to escape the Demon Lord's control.
Thud! Thud! Thud...
The energy wave grew stronger, and the voice by Richard's ear became increasingly chaotic.
These voices sounded like the whispers of a devil, promising Richard countless treasures, from a lost world to a civilization's lost technology, and even an Illusionary Dimension that Richard could conquer.
If Richard's soul didn't have the protection of two dimensions, he might have been truly tempted by this voice.
Soon, Richard reached the bottom of the tower.
In the basement below the tower sat a deceased Titan in a meditative position.
In front of this Titan, a large ring-shaped array firmly controlled a mass of flesh in the center.
Whenever this mass of flesh made any movement, the deceased Titan would rise, retrieve a large black hammer from the void, and smash it ruthlessly.
"Halt, intruder!"
The deceased Titan suddenly spoke.
"Don't believe this creature's promises, leave here immediately!"
Richard said nothing more, only igniting the golden Miracle Fire on his body. Upon seeing the flames, the mass of flesh in the center suddenly trembled violently.
Meanwhile, the seductive sounds in Richard's ear became even more frantic.
"Release me, and you will gain the Illusionary Dimension, as well as the secret of Breaking Limit."
"Release me, and you will become the leader of a civilization!"
"I promise you eternal life! Just release me!"
But Richard simply whispered to the Titan, "Friend, your mission is over."
Saying this, blazing flames flew from Richard's hands. In face of the Miracle Fire, the mass of flesh seemed to lose all its abilities.
Having been sealed for a million years yet still possessing the power to tempt Richard, under the burning of the Miracle Fire, it turned to ashes in just a moment.
The Titan watched the flesh burned to ashes, suddenly tossing the hammer to Richard.
His body slowly shattered, and a relieved voice emanated from within him.
"My mission is over, I hope my hammer can help you, successor."
