Whispers from the Abyss

Chapter 29 - The Past

“Awakening the sliver of the past host soul

Past host taking temporary control of the host

Control granted

The past host is directing primordial energy toward the core to devour and heal it.

The past host has control for 10 minutes until the sliver of soul collapses.”

The past host was in control of Luke's body, stabilizing the energy inside it. Meanwhile, the past host and Luke were inside a plane created by the past host. The past host slowly materialized in front of Luke. After the past host fully formed, Luke noticed that he was the boy from the village. There were only a few differences between them, but they were very noticeable. The right half of the man was fully coated in ethereal abyssal energy, and the left side was fully coated in ethereal origin energy. Before Luke could notice anything else about the man, he spoke in a commanding tone, “I know you must have a lot of questions, but I don’t have enough time to answer them all. After controlling the raging primordial energy inside you, I only have enough soul energy to answer three questions.” Luke was still staring at the past host, trying to figure out where he knew the past host's face from besides the vision. Luke was deep in thought but was interrupted by the past host. “Hurry up, boy, I don’t have much time.” Luke snapped out of his deep thought and asked, “Who are you?” The past host chuckled, saying, “I knew that would be your first question. We are more alike than I thought. Well, besides the point, my name is Pride, the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins. I am also your past reincarnation!” Luke was stunned, not expecting to have a past life. It took Luke five minutes to come back to reality and accept the fact that he used to be Pride. Pride knew it would take Luke a few minutes to awaken from the shock, but five minutes was faster than he thought. ‘Luke had adapted to this faster than I thought. The fusion between our personalities is coming a lot faster than it should.’ Pride thought.

Now awoken from his shock, Luke asked his next question, “What is primordial energy, and why can I use it?” A smile grew on Pride's face instantly, with a maddening laugh coming shortly after: "Good, good! I can’t believe it worked; this is unbelievable. You might have noticed the two different energies on the two halves of me. They are called abyssal and origin energy, but you already know that, and when they manage to mix together, it forms primordial energy. It is the strongest energy of all, able to be used to cast any spell. The reason you can use primordial energy is due to the layouts I put in place before the war. I simplified AꚶɌĬtዛᙏiᕔᙁ ĬnꕷĬgዛt into mystic awakening due to AꚶɌĬtዛᙏiᕔᙁ ĬnꕷĬgዛt being the only meditation technique you can control and use primordial energy with. Once mystic awakening detected, you had both abyssal and origin energy, it would transmit to you the imagine of primordial energy, so you would be able to awaken with primordial energy.” Luke didn’t know what to say to that. His past self was really impressive, being able to plan out and lead everything towards his layouts while dead. Luke could only hope to one day be able to do the same, but he knew he could go farther than Pride due to primordial energy.

Luke thought about what he wanted his last question to be. After thinking for a few seconds, Luke realized he didn’t know the cause of the civil war that ended with the Seven Deadly Sins dying, so he asked, “Why did you cause a civil war in the abyss, and how did it end in the Sins defeat with how powerful you guys were?” Pride's face grew gloomy, thinking about the past war. Luke noticed this and said, “You don’t have to talk about this if you don’t want to; it's fine.” Pride replied, “No, you need to know what happened and who your true enemies are. Plus, how can I be called Pride if something as insignificant as my death would frighten me!” Pride then went on to explain the base cause of the civil war and how he ended up dying. “As you saw in the vision in my home world, a crack opened in the sky, but what you couldn’t tell was that it was the abyss who opened the crack. The abyss is in an eternal war with the origin realm, with the abyss devouring all realms it can and the origin realm stopping the abyss and saving the realms. I managed to survive the coruption of abyssal energy, and the abyssal will took an interest in me. The abyssal will took me under its control and trained me for one thousand years before using me as a tool. One day I managed to gain origin energy along with my abyssal energy, and that woke me up and let me regain control. Once I gained control again, I started a war against the abyssal will and found six comrades to help me. In the end, the abyssal will used all its strength to wipe me and my six comrades out and was forced into a deep sleep. I have no clue what has happened in the realms since then. For the time being, you don’t have to worry about our enemies due to being too weak, but just know that the origin realm is just like the abyss, so don’t trust anyone. Anyone can become an enemy in the long run.” Hearing the truth behind why Pride started the civil war in the abyss, Luke started to understand why Pride did what he did.

The fragment of Pride's soul started to slowly fade away from energy exhaustion. Before fully fading away, Pride reminded Luke one last time, “Don’t trust anyone. Everyone will be out to get you if they know you have primordial energy!” Pride fully faded away from existence, with Luke becoming the new Pride. Luke found himself back in the middle of his camp again, with it being daytime now. Luke felt the existence of primordial energy due to the newfound strength he had, but once he tried to cast a spell with it, he noticed he couldn’t move the energy. Luke was baffled by this but could only assume he wasn’t strong enough. Instead, Luke attempted to convert the energy into abyssal energy with his thoughts. Almost instantly, the primordial energy transformed into abyssal energy. Luke was able to control the abyssal energy and use it to cast spells that needed abyssal energy. Now that Luke had some sort of understanding of his new magical energy, he could set off in search of a city. Luke still needed to study this new energy and find out how it fully works, but that would be for another day when he was safe.

While walking through the forest, Luke heard the sounds of a battle, and in hopes of finding a city, he ran towards the fight. Once Luke reached the sounds of battle, he noticed that it was a small skirmish between goblins and a 10-man team. In an attempt to build up some goodwill with the team in the hope of being able to follow them back to a city, Luke joined in on the fight.
