Whispers from the Abyss

Luke remembered he had the spell Magical Perception and used it to discover the number of goblins in the small horde. While using the spell, Luke detected a small group of goblins armed with a blowpipe circling around the adventurers. The adventurers didn’t seem to notice this group of goblins, so Luke decided he would take them on. Luke started to use his magic to help cast Flames from the Depths. All of a sudden, a dark purple flame erupted in the forest among the goblins. The goblins flaking the adventures started to freak out, attacking one another due to Flames from the Depths effects.

Adventures Pov -

Out of nowhere, a massive purple fire started in the forest behind us. Clark yelled, “Don’t worry about the flank; me and Scott will check it out!” While running back towards the flames with Scott. In the front lines, our two tankers and swordsmen are holding back the goblins, with our two archers in the back picking off anyone that makes it through them. During this fight, there were already many close calls, if it weren't for Mela, our priest, who was healing our frontliners. All we were waiting on was for our witch, Estrella, to finish her preparation so she could hurry up and cast her spell. One of our tankers, Eric, yelled back, "Estrella, can you hurry up and finish? I don’t know how much longer we can last.” Estrella yelled back in an irritated tone. “You can wait. I'm almost done. I only need one more minute.” The last minute felt like an eternity had passed, with me being unable to help due to my being a weak porter. Somehow the frontlines managed to hold with the help of Mela until Estrella was able to cast her spell: "rfraskv vcr yx xmmus ambeq, vewpbu xvcret daq mbxmuy. tmret uaofryvmh xvclu, rjrfasdw xpws, xfrasau vewpbu, ewxfruasve daq qulpws!" In front of Estrella appeared a surge of flames forming into a ball of fire that shot forward into the group of goblins. Boom. A big explosion of flames happened in the middle of the goblins, wiping out the majority of their army and leaving the remaining few to be cleaned up by the tankers and swordsmen. After cleaning up the remaining goblins, Eric rushed towards Estrella and started yelling at her, “Why couldn’t you cast the spell faster? We almost died because of you! If it wasn’t for Mela, we could have died!” In response, Estrella yelled back, "That is how magic is. I need time to prepare the spell and say the incarnation of it.” Before Eric could snap back, the adventurers noticed Clark and Scott coming back from the flank, with Luke following right behind them.

10 minutes ago Luke’s Pov -

Luke didn’t have to do anything after casting Flames from the Depths, and he let the goblins that were flaking just fight between themselves. Coming from the way the adventures are, Luke noticed two men running towards the group of goblins. The two men stopped once they noticed the flames on the goblins. One of the men said, “What is that flame? It makes me uncomfortable, Clark.” Clark responded back. "Yeah, Scott, let's hurry up and get out of here.” When Luke heard that, he yelled out to the two men, "Hey, can I come with you? I'm lost. I'll be of help; I'm the one who took care of the goblins.” Both men jumped, pulling out their weapon of choice. The one named Clark had a sword in his hand, and the other named Scott had a bow with an arrow pulled back already. Clark asked, “Who are you, and where did you come from?” Luke responded with a sad tone, "Like, I just told you I was lost. I was trying to find my way to the nearest city from my village but ended up getting chased by some sort of animal. Now I am lost.” After hearing his answer, Clark and Scott still weren't convinced Luke was telling the truth after seeing the flame he said he summoned. Clark asked one last question: “How were you able to cast that flame on the goblins?” Luke told them, “I'm the weakest in my family, but I was still taught the basics of how to use magic.” Clark then abruptly gasped and said, "Boy, you know, magical families aren't common. Which one are you from?” Luke was freaking out inside his head, trying to find a way he could lie to get out of this. Then it hit him the perfect lie. Luke then told Clark and Scott, “What's a magical family? My family village is stationed out in the middle of the mountains.” Clark then nodded and said, "Ah, that makes sense. How lucky we are to run into a family member of a hermit magical family! Yes, you can follow our group back to a city.”

Back to the present Luke’s Pov -

Eric was the first to rush up and ask Clark and Scott, “Who is this? Why are they following you?” While Estrella was busy checking Luke out, Almost instantly, Estrella rushed over to Luke, all excited, and said, “Are you a mage? Ive never felt a mage with this dark of a magical power. Almost like a demonic beast." As soon as Estrella said that, Clark instantly remembered the feeling he got from the flames Luke summoned and said, “Yeah, wait a minute, why do those flames of yours give me the same feeling as a demonic beast?” Luke was panicking, but he couldn’t show it outward. His mind was racing, trying to figure out a way out of this situation. Luke closed his eyes and racked his brain until he remembered…
