Whispers from the Abyss

Chapter 28 - A Vision

While deciding which meditation to choose, Luke felt an attraction towards Mystic Awakening. Luke felt like this was the perfect technique for him, almost like it was custom-made for him. Luke decided no more waiting and chose Mystic Awakening. He went towards the library reading area and got to reading. Once the first page was flipped open, Luke was sucked inside the book. Luke found himself in the air, floating above a small village. The village felt familiar to Luke; this was the first time Luke had seen such an old village. While there were still people living in the village, there were multiple destroyed and desolate buildings. The village only had 30 people in it, with 10 of them being kids ranging from 8 to 17.

Luke was forced to focus on one of the young villagers. Luke noticed that, shockingly, the villager looked similar to him. Time skipped from day to night with all the villagers except the one Luke was focused on being asleep. Instead of sleeping, the young child was meditating, and an energy invisible to the naked eye was gathering around him. After 30 minutes of the child meditating, Luke noticed that he was starting to sweat and had to stop meditating. Under his breath, Luke heard the child mumble, "Finally, I was able to sense and gather mana.” After saying that, Luke noticed that in the sky, a dark crack was opened, and out came spilling abyssal energy, corrupting all. The village was corrupted in a matter of minutes, with the only survivor being the young child, who managed to survive due to his mana adapting to the abyssal energy. Off in the distance, Luke noticed a bright, glowing light charging towards the crack, but before anything happened, Luke found himself back in the reading room. While he was back, Luke couldn't stop thinking about the vision, or whatever it was called. There was a feeling Luke couldn't throw off that the vision was of importance to him, but he had no clue why. Almost everything in the vision was familiar.

Luke decided to throw that to the back of his mind and actually start to read Mysic Awakening. Luke started to read the book and almost instantly comprehended how to meditate with this technique. Luke felt like he had known this technique for years. He could only attribute this to the vision somehow imprinting this knowledge into his brain. Now that Luke was down reading Mysic Awakening he decided to read the Basics to Magical Races. “There are many different magical races, with some more rare than others and some stronger than others. Every single race has a unique feature about them that makes them a magical race. In this book, we will cover the basics of the magical races, like how to deal with them, what they specialize in, and anything else of note. This book only covers commonly seen magical races, not anywhere near all of them.” Luke kept reading and absorbing all the new knowledge he could. Once he made it to the section where it listed the magical races, Luke was impressed by what these magical races could do. “ One of the most commonly seen magical races are goblins. Goblins are not weak creatures, no matter what their size may suggest. Goblins are highly intelligent creatures, with the smartest of all being the goblin emperor. Goblins are known for their insane adaptability, with them adapting to their environment in a matter of days to months, depending on how extreme it is. There are too many variants of goblins to know the exact amount. Goblins have their own kingdom in their own realm, but you can find lower class goblins in any realm.

Most commonly seen in areas with an intense concentration of death energy, any skeleton in the area will animate into a skeleton. The rank of the skeleton depends on its strength when alive. The stronger the skeleton, the smarter they are, with the smartest being liches, but they are rare. Some skeletons may have control over death energy due to being animated by them. All skeletons must follow the higher ranking skeleton. Skeletons are most common in the death realm but can be found anywhere with an intense concentration of death energy.

Beasts are one of the most diverse magical races, including every single animal with the ability to use magic or magical abilities. Each beast race has a specialization they are good at, like snow leopards are experts at using snow magic, with the best of the best being able to use ice magic but can’t use fire magic, and lions are good at fire magic, with the best of the best being able to use sun magic but can’t use snow magic. The beasts have their own kingdom in their own realm, but you can find them in almost every realm.”

Luke loved the feeling of his knowledge growing. Luke needed to have all the knowledge in the world. “This is strange. Why am I thinking like this?” Luke thought. Thinking back, he had never once been like this. Luke found it strange that he was changing so much, but he knew that to survive from now on, he had to change. Luke felt like Greed and the rest had something to do with his change in personality, but without any proof or liking for his new personality, Luke left it be for the time being.

Now that he was down reading in his mindscape, Luke found himself back in the middle of his back. It was still night, and he had plenty of time to meditate until the daytime. Luke got right into meditating using Mystic Awakening. Once Luke started to run the technique, he found a new piece of knowledge in his head, seemingly coming from nowhere. This knowledge just told him that, due to his unique physique, he could use Mysic Awakening to awaken to primordial energy. Luke had only ever heard of primordial energy once when he was reading about how the realms came into existence. Luke didn’t know how strong this energy would be or if he would even manage to awaken to it. Imaging a pure pitch black sphere in front of him, Luke slowly started to imagine primordial energy to the best of his ability. All Luke could imagine was the creation of all the realms and the explosion of primodial energy forming the realms. Luke felt almost all powerful, like a god, until he felt like he was bursting from the inside out. The core inside Luke awoke: “Host in danger! Host in danger! Host in danger!

Must absorb raging energy.

Error can’t absorb primordial energy without the host in control.
