What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 595: Start Talking Pirate Lord

I turned to the Pirate Lord who had just sheathed her swords "You owe us some explanations."

She turned to me and let out a sigh, "I suppose you deserve the truth… All of you do."

The last part of her sentence seemed to be directed to the pirates that had chosen to side with her who were also staring at her in shock.

It's clear that the only person who even knew that the Pirates Lord was this lady was Matsumoto.

She gestures at herself, "As all of you can see, I'm not Human but an Inucanis. There, I said it. Happy now?"

All of us just stared at her.

"I'm pretty sure there's something else that you should be telling us aside from that?" I pointed out.

She sighed again, "Yes, yes… I'm not some giant, muscled guy using a big Power Armour but a girl. Happy?"

"Yeah… I can see that, I'm more interested in the 'why', actually…"

"Because I won't be taken seriously if they knew I'm a girl."

One of the pirates stepped forward, "That's not true my lord!! We would have followed you regardless!"

She gestures at them, "You guys, probably. Since you're all ex-military. The others? I don't think so."

I raised an eyebrow, "Are you really sure that's the case though? I'm pretty sure most wouldn't care. Then again, you got stabbed in the back anyway despite you pretending to be a guy."

She waved her hand at me, "That's not what I was talking about. But talking about it would take too much time which we don't have the luxury for right now so why don't we keep moving? I don't even think those dark shadowy looking things are even human."

"Well then, can we at least have a name? I'm getting tired of constantly referring to you as 'Pirate Lord' all the time."

She paused, and I could tell that she didn't really want to give a name at all but she eventually just sighed and gestured to herself again.

"Yumiko Takehashi. Former commander of the Black Wolves unit. Nice to meet you all."

She didn't wait for any of us to respond before she started walking again, shutting down any other questions we might have of her.

Matsumoto followed after her immediately, the guy looking like some kind of protector watching over her.

Huh… With the fact that the Pirate Lord was actually this Takehashi girl… Is he so loyal to her because they are actually lovers or something?

I mean… He's the only one who knows that the Pirate Lord is a 'she' and not a 'he' the entire time right? And he was the only one in their unit to survive aside from her.

I ran forward to catch up with them and the others quickly followed suit behind me.

I intentionally matched my pace with Matsumoto's and the guy spoke up before I could even ask my question.

"I have nothing to share and I do not wish to share anything so you can save your breath."

Amber appeared beside me and scowled at him, "Wow, rude. It's not like we didn't help you guys out at all, did we?"

He didn't even turn to look at her, "I am definitely grateful for your help but my lord's secrets are her own and so are mine. As you already know, she intends to retire after we are done with this treasure hunt of ours so there's no need for all of you to know more."

Hmm… Fine, fine, keep your secrets.

I turned my attention to our surroundings instead, and right now it looks like we're walking through what looked like maintenance tunnels with all the pipes and wires lining along the ceiling.

I'm not sure if that Takehashi Pirate Lord over there even knows where we're going but at least the tunnel had just been a single straight path this whole time.

That quickly changed as we soon arrived at T-junction and the path was split to the left and right, both sides looked identical and there were no signs or markings to indicate which each side led to.

The pirates all turned to look at Takehashi and, ironically, she turned to look at me.

What? You want me to decide? I'll just point out that the map doesn't even show that this place exists in the first place, you know?

I looked up at the pipes and wires and I realised that on the pipes, there were markings that indicated the direction the liquid inside it was flowing. Most of them seemed to be going towards the right so there must be something in that direction, right?

I pointed towards the right and she didn't even question it and started walking down that direction.

Everyone else also followed behind her and… Err… I will admit, I was quite distracted by that fluffy tail swaying back and forth as she walked.

I wanna touch it…

I turned back and looked at Ries, our resident cat girl looking up and tilting her head quizzically at me.

I reached doubt and started stroking her head, enjoying the smooth sensation of her hair and the soft fluffiness of her ears.

She jumped in surprise at my touch, "Ny… Nyaaa? Boss?"

I ignored her and just continued stroking her head for a while more until I was satisfied before turning back to face the direction we were walking towards.

We only managed to continue for a few more steps before the sounds of explosions came from where we had come from, prompting us to stop and look behind us.

"They're also coming… They must have managed to take those three things out," Takehashi muttered.

Matsumoto turned to her, "Should we engage them?"

"No… We continue. Hopefully they turn and head down the other path instead. Just keep a look out for any movements at the rear. If anyone even hears any sound or spots any movement, we turn around and engage them immedia--"

She didn't even get to finish her words before one of those dark figures fell down from the ceiling to block our path forward.

He slowly stood up and transformed his arms into the cannons that we had seen before.

Before he could fire though, Takehashi had already drawn one of her blades and slashed it downwards in an overhead slash, firing out an energy arc that sliced the figure into half.

Not to be outdone, both Lea and Amber had also fired their gun, our Alv sniper nailing the figure in the head while Amber shot a quick burst from her dual pistols to pepper the figure with several bullet holes.

The figure stumbled back a step but it was soon trying to level its arm with us again to try and aim his cannons in our direction.

I lifted my shotgun and fired, blasting it in the chest and blowing it back before the rest of our group opened fire and shredded it to pieces.

The figure took a few more steps back before he crumbled away like the one that we had defeated before.

This time, without the threat of other androids, we managed to approach the spot where the figure had fallen to inspect what remained of it.

"Is that… Liquid?" One of the pirates asked.

I could see why he would ask something like that because at the place where the figure had been standing… The only thing that remained was a small black puddle.

The only thing was… That black puddle looked like it was alive as it was swirling around back and forth while its surface vibrated.

Then, without any warning, the black puddle suddenly flowed towards the wall and started to climb up towards the ceiling before it disappeared into the darkness amongst the pipes, though I did catch a glimpse of it further down the corridor of where we were heading.

"What the fuck was that?" I couldn't help but blurt out.

"That was… Some kind of blood, I guess?" Amber answered a little hesitatingly. "It certainly didn't feel human, right? Mara?"

Mara also shook her head, "I do not believe that thing is human at all either…"

I understood that was our two Psionics confirming with each other that they could not read that figure's mind so it probably was not human.

"Then what is that? A new kind of alien species that's mimicking humans? Or is that some secret military weapon?"

Ries raised her hand, "Boss… I think I know what it… Or more specifically, what they are…"

All of us turned to her, waiting for her to tell us her hypothesis.

She sucked in a breath, "I believe they are nanobots that have been assembled to function as a human figure boss… The only reason why they fell apart like that might be because we destroyed the bot that held the connection function that allowed them to stay together or something… In other words… I believe there aren't any other humans on this station, we might just be dealing with a rogue AI…"

Great…
