What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

A rogue AI huh… That might explain why we've not even come across a single human aside from the pirates.

"Isn't this kind of bad then?" I asked.

Takehashi groaned, "Of course it's bad! A rogue AI huh… It must have gained control over the facility after the Pirate Sovereign passed and then used it for its own means… Heck, maybe it might have been one of his AIs that gained sentience and then went rogue instead?"

Before anyone else could say anything, voices came from behind us.

"I heard shooting coming from this way…"

"Then they must be there! Hurry and chase after them!"

Ah, I almost forgot about those guys…

Guess our encounter with that dark figure, or rather, that mass of nanobots, had caught their attention.

The Pirate Lord also let out a curse as she realised what happened, "We better prepare ourselves for another fight then. Let's find a place to set up an ambush up ahead."

Looking around, it would be pretty difficult to ambush anyone unless you were a puddle of nanobots that can hide up in the small space between the pipes I suppose.

We increased our pace and continued forward, looking for a spot that wasn't just a straight corridor where we could at least hide ourselves.

The corridor continued for a while until we reached an open doorway that had no illumination beyond it.

We rushed inside and looked around. Aside from some barely visible lights on the ceiling that only illuminated the area around it, the place was entirely pitch black.

Switching on our flashlights, we found several weird looking machines and what looked like circular indentations on the ground which we had no idea what they were for.

We could already hear the thundering of footsteps coming from behind so all of us went to look for cover to hide in preparation to ambush them.

I took cover behind something that looked like a metallic block sticking out of the ground that was in the middle of one of those circular indentations.

I did a quick check of my ammo right before those pirates rushed through the doorway.

Before I could wonder when would be a good time for us to pop out and start shooting them, something fell from the ceiling to land directly on one of the pirates at the doorway.

I thought it might have just been some mechanical part that got loose until a dark figure formed on top of the pirate and snapped the pirate's neck.

Oh great, more of those things…

Wait… Don't tell me there are also more of them around us as well?

I felt a presence near me and I turned to point my shotgun in that direction right as a shadowy figure rose from the ground to lunge towards me.

I pulled the trigger reflexively and the area around me was briefly illuminated by the blast of my shotgun.

The dark figure got blown back with a hole in its chest and it looked like I was especially lucky with my shot because instead of healing itself, the dark figure melted into the black puddle on the ground instead.

As if that was the cue, the others also started shooting, some of them aiming at the pirates while others were also trying to deal with those dark figures that tried to ambush them.

From the screams though, it sounded like some of Takehashi's pirates also fell from the ambush.

I was worried about my girls until I saw the flash of gunfire from Ries's light machine gun, her bullets blowing through a trio of the dark figures and also revealing all of the girls to be perfectly safe behind her.

"Tera!" I heard Amber shout, my lover pointing at something behind me.

I turned and immediately fired my shotgun again, nailing another dark figure that had popped up behind me in the chest.

Unfortunately, it did not melt into a puddle like the first one and merely closed up its wound while reaching towards me.

I fired another shot aimed at its head but even that was not enough to stop it and I didn't have time to back away as it grabbed me by the throat.

Just as I felt the fingers constrict around my neck, a flash of metal came from the side and the arm was severed.

The shadowy figure moved back but it was too late as Takehashi sliced through the figure's torso, cutting it into two which then caused it to melt into the usual puddle.

I was going to thank her until another one of those nanobot things rose up from the ground to lunge at her from behind.

I aimed my shotgun behind her and pulled the trigger, blasting the figure back a step as it tried to repair the hole that I made in its abdomen.

She turned back to see the nanobot figure I kept away from her and sliced out her sword to cut it into half again.

The dark figure tried to repair the cut that Takehashi made but her hands blurred and several more cuts appeared all around its body, breaking it into pieces and causing it to melt into the puddle.

We didn't even have time to rest as flashlights turned on and we were greeted with a mass of them running straight towards both us and Helen's pirates.

From the screams and shooting that were coming from within the corridor, it seems like Helen's side was also being attacked from behind as well.

That wasn't exactly a good thing since it meant we were being pincered from the front and back as well.

What made it worse was the fact that they were all using these nanobot figures and no longer making use of the androids which made them way harder to kill.

And as if things couldn't get any worse…

Flashes of light also started appearing from the darkness before bullets came flying towards us.

They also brought a few to transform their arms into weapons to fire at us I see…

Right now, it was a three way battle as three distinct groups were fighting against each other in this dark hall.

My shields flared as it protected me from several gunshots from the dark figures at the back of the crowd.

The other pirates were not as lucky as they were clearly aiming for the bigger group instead of us, though most likely because they were trying to kill as many people as they could instead of trying to help us.

"We need to find a way out of here!" I cried out, firing at the crowd of those nanobot figures.

Takehashi turned to shoot me a look, "Where can we go?"

I looked around and… Well… The entire hall was shrouded in darkness aside from the flashes of light from gunshots and flashlights which barely illuminated the hall anyway so there didn't seem like there was any other way out.

Do we have to kill all of them to get out of here? Because at the rate this is going, the only way that we might get out of this alive is for Amber and Mara to reveal their Psionic powers…

As I was still thinking about what we should do in this situation, a yell came from the doorway.

"Tyraaaannt!!"

Both of us turned to see Helen charging towards us from the doorway, leaping past the dead bodies of her comrades.

I was thinking that she was simply suicidal as another of those nanobot figures tried to rush towards her and attempted to grab her from the side.

Her arms suddenly glowed and her body became a blur, the pistols in her hands firing in the nanobot figure's direction in quick succession, riddling it full of bullets before she kicked it away before it could even transform into a puddle.

One of Takehashi's pirates tried to stop her by firing a quick burst from his rifle but she blurred again and ducked under the hail of bullets before dashing towards the pirate.

She got past his guard and pressed her pistol against his head before firing a single shot, nailing the poor guy in the head and killing him instantly.

Helen turned back to Takehashi, "You did this! You did this to me!! You should have just died and everything would have worked out! All of this is because of you!!"

Oh wow, I think this woman snapped…

She tried to rush towards us again but Matsumoto stood in her way this time, slashing his sword at her in an attempt to cut her head off.

She leapt back and fired a quick burst at him but the older man simply dodged to the side to avoid them while blocking the shots he couldn't avoid with the flat of his blade.

The two of them stared at each other, their figures illuminated by the gunfire happening around them.

"Your opponent is me, Helen… It is my fault that you were even allowed to live this long and cause this to happen."

She growled at him, "You want to die for that bitch? Then come and die like the dog you are!!"

Geez… What is this now? Some kind of soap opera?

Why does it feel like I'm watching the outcome of a love triangle?
