Warhammer: Saiyan Adopted by the Wolf King

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Ki and the Soul

In the current galaxy, Orks truly could be called a natural disaster.

Whether it was the Ork warboss from the future Ullanor campaign, who nearly managed to injure the Emperor, or the Beast that would appear during the War of the Beast, one so fearsome that even Vulkan, the Lord of the Salamanders, perished together with it, the evolutionary capabilities of the Ork species were all incredibly strong.

Given enough time and opportunity, they could evolve to rival Primarchs, or even take down Primarchs without much difficulty.

This species was, without a doubt, completely broken.

However, there was an even more broken race set to appear in the future.

Tyranids, the true calamity of the galaxy, or even the entire universe.

They were the true genetic masters, the real devourers of the cosmos, destroyers of all life, consuming every living thing until nothing remained.

The good news was that it would be nearly ten thousand years before these terrifying races arrived.

The ones that had come to the galaxy so far were merely scouts.

There was even talks in the community that the Szarekh was scared away by the main force of the Tyranids, returning to defend Necron interests from the growing Tyranid menace

Necrons, besides Tyranids, were another hegemon-level species in the galaxy.

Now, there were pathetically few Necrons active in the galaxy, only the "Collectible King" was known to remain.

Their species had basically maxed out every aspect of physical technology.

They were the only ones capable of faster-than-light travel in realspace without relying on the Warp.

They could freely manufacture black holes, collapse entire stars, and even possessed a weapon known as the "Celestial Orrery," which could ignite every star in the galaxy in a single instant.

This world was really full of all kinds of monsters and freaks!

Even as a Super Saiyan, Axis didn't dare get reckless here.

He planned to keep a low profile, build up his strength, and only make waves once he became a god-tier being.

At the very least, he would need to be able to travel through the universe with his physical body, tank a supernova, or even withstand a black hole before he could afford to show off!

"Axis! Are you even listening to me?" Kasha suddenly spoke.

Why did this guy seem so distracted?

'I'm telling you something really serious here, you know?'

"Of course I am. Actually, I have a feeling we'll run into those greenskins before long. When the time comes, I'll send those two Saibamen to deal with them," Axis replied.

Honestly, the Saiyan personality should get along just fine with Orks! Both races were all about fighting, or on their way to fight!

One was a race of warriors, the other was a race of battle fanatics.

Kasha rolled her eyes at that.

Meeting those guys was definitely nothing to celebrate!

She'd rather never encounter them at all.

Orks were the most troublesome opponents in the entire galaxy.

They never asked for a reason; they just fought you.

To them, brawling was the most comfortable thing in the world.

"Enough about that, let me use some ki to strengthen your body! If your body gets stronger, maybe you'll be able to channel even more psychic power. How about it?" Axis offered.

Back on the ship, he had only occasionally enhanced Kasha, but most of the time, he was busy strengthening the dozen or so Custodes.

"Your ki really is a great help to my body. It improves my physical constitution and makes it easier for me to use psychic powers more stably.

"But it doesn't actually increase my psychic strength.

"The situation of psykers isn't quite as you imagine. There's something you need to understand first.

"Psychic power isn't produced by our bodies or our souls.

"Rather, with strong enough souls, one can tear open a rift between the Warp and realspace, drawing energy from the Warp and releasing it into the physical universe, that is what we call psychic power.

"If your body isn't strong enough, or your will isn't firm enough, your soul could easily be exploited by the entities within the Warp, turning you into a literal portal of flesh.

"But if your mind is healthy and your body is strong, then when you channel psychic power, it'll be much more stable. So in theory, my channeling of psychic power wil be stabler, not fundamentally stronger." Kasha explained.

Axis's ki could make her body tougher, which in turn made her psychic power more stable.

"I get it! So, the stronger your soul, the more psychic energy you can draw from the Warp, right?" Axis asked thoughtfully.

"That's right! For example, my father, the Emperor's psychic power is the strongest in all humanity.

"Even in the entire material universe. All the human psykers put together don't even come close to my father's psychic might." Kasha said.

"So… just how powerful is the Emperor's psychic power, exactly? Can you give me a concrete example?" Axis asked, very curious.

"I can give you one. According to my mother, a few thousand years ago, my father could, with his psychic power alone, compress an entire star, turning it directly into a single energy core.

"He could freely enter and exit the Warp, completely unafraid of any daemons within it.

"Back when humanity was still in the age of cold weapons, he could physically teleport to Mars through psychic power alone.

"With his overwhelming psychic might, he had defeated fragments of the legendary C'tan. Besides that, if he wished, Relying on his formidable psychic abilities, he could forcibly rewrite someone's memories, manipulate all five of their senses at will, making them see whatever he wanted them to see.

"But if he wanted, he could turn into a giant over five meters tall, and bigger, if he felt like it.

"He could freely control wind, fire, lightning, and even, through his powerful psychic telekinesis, crush an entire planet.

"With his immense psychic power, he could accelerate or slow down time within an entire star system... "

Kasha spoke with pride as she described just how powerful her father, the Emperor, truly was.

After hearing this, Axis nodded.

The Emperor's psychic might was simply off the charts.

But this led to a strange question, why had the Emperor been in such danger during the Ullanor campaign?

Logically, an Ork warboss who could be slain by a Primarch shouldn't have been able to put the Emperor in such a dire situation.

Unless, of course, the "old man" had deliberately let a certain "filial son" show off, to give Horus a chance to shine and even save the Emperor himself.

With such an achievement, he was able to suppress all the other Primarchs and naturally became the Imperial Warmaster.

Axis simply couldn't think of any other explanation for how even the Emperor could fail to handle an Ork warboss.

Still, the Emperor's psychic power was unquestionably the greatest among humanity.

But in the greater universe, the Emperor might not actually be number one.

In fact, ten thousand years from now, he might not even hold that title.

The Tyranid Hive Mind's psychic power wasn't necessarily weaker than the Emperor's!

It was entirely possible that the Hive Mind was even more powerful than the Emperor sitting on the Golden Throne ten thousand years in the future.

After all, this entity could directly command the entire Tyranid swarm across the stars.

Whenever a Hive Fleet appeared, the resulting shadow in the Warp could drive psykers mad and completely sever Imperial communications with target worlds.

And the Tyranids had many psychic units: Zoanthropes, Norn Queens, Norn Emissaries, and other node creatures.

During the first Tyranid invasion, the Librarian Tigurius merely connected with the Hive Tyrant's mind and nearly suffered a brain meltdown.

That alone said plenty about how strong the Hive Mind was.

"By the way, Kasha, do you know of any way to strengthen one's soul?" Axis asked.

"To strengthen the soul? Well…

"The strength of the soul is tied to your own consciousness, but basically, it's innate, decided at birth.

"Unless something truly unusual happens, it won't really change much over your life.

"Take the Eldar, for example. Every Eldar's soul is far stronger than a human's; their whole race is naturally psychic.

"Their souls are just innately powerful.

"But if you're talking about training yourself to make your soul stronger later on… that's just not realistic." Kasha shook her head.

A psyker's potential was set at birth; all you could do afterward was learn to control that power.

Kasha could guess what Axis was thinking.

His soul was very weak by the Emperor and Malcador's standards, completely ordinary and utterly unmatched to his own power.

There really was no way to strengthen the soul.

If there were, psykers could be mass-produced instead of appearing randomly.

"Kasha, can you see my soul in the Warp?" Axis asked.

Maybe he didn't need to ask Magnus, maybe Kasha could answer this for him.

"Axis, I can see your soul's projection in the Warp.

"It really isn't strong at all. It looks just like that of an ordinary person's," Kasha replied.

"I don't think that's the whole story. I actually believe the power of ki isn't just for strengthening the body.

"It can also strengthen the soul, maybe even make the soul as tangible as the body.

"It could bleed, be trained, even eat and sleep." Axis said earnestly.

"Pfft!"

Kasha couldn't hold back her laughter.

"Haha! That made me laugh!

"The soul can't possibly be tangible like that, Axis. In the Warp, a person's soul is only a projection."

This guy really thought his ki could do anything, just being able to reinforce the body was already impressive enough.

Strengthening the soul? That could only be a joke. The principle alone was going against what everyone thought was possible in the universe.

"We're in the Warp right now, Kasha. Can you look at my soul's projection one more time?" Axis asked.

"…Alright, if you insist." Kasha sighed.
