Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Give Me the Hammer
This scene was deeply imprinted in everyone's hearts, especially Jane and the others watching from their hiding place.
Though they already knew Thor's true identity, the spectacle before them was breathtaking.
Surrounded by countless lightning bolts, his entire body crackling with electricity as his silver armor materialized.
"This defies all scientific explanation," Tony muttered with a frown. Thor's transformation from merely reclaiming his hammer was astonishing.
BOOM!
A massive lightning bolt struck from the sky, completing Thor's transformation. Enveloped in electric energy, he extended his hand and Mjolnir flew into his grasp. He swung it fiercely at the Destroyer.
The moment Mjolnir struck the Destroyer, Marcus broke free from the construct and instantly entered the mirror dimension.
"Don't forget my reward!"
Marcus smiled as he watched Thor smash the Destroyer with his hammer.
"Don't worry, those items will be delivered soon. The Ancient One will notify you," Odin replied.
Thor had completed his transformation and now possessed the qualities needed to become Asgard's king. This change pleased Odin greatly.
Nodding with satisfaction, Odin disappeared from the mirror dimension in a burst of golden energy.
With Odin gone, the Ancient One prepared to leave as well. There was no danger here, but other dimensions required her vigilance.
"I must depart too. If you find time, you're welcome to visit Kamar-Taj as my guest."
She provided Marcus with an address, then the mirror dimension rippled like water as she quietly vanished.
As the mirror dimension disappeared, Marcus suddenly appeared before everyone, seemingly from nowhere.
Observing the Destroyer that Thor had knocked down, Marcus stepped forward and reached for Thor's hammer.
"Give me your hammer!"
After speaking, he directly grasped Mjolnir's handle. The moment Thor released it, Marcus felt the hammer's immense weight.
But soon, to everyone's astonishment, Marcus lifted Mjolnir.
Void energy surrounded his hand, completely enveloping the hammer, severing all connections between Mjolnir and the outside world. The Aya Stars began condensing in his palm.
Thor was shocked. If he hadn't witnessed it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed someone else could wield Mjolnir—or that he could lose his connection to it.
Even Odin, now in the Odinsleep back in Asgard, couldn't help but twitch his fingers.
Though his spirit had just returned to his body, he could still sense that Mjolnir's connection to Asgard had been broken.
Perhaps because he had become increasingly adept at extracting Aya Stars, Marcus worked faster than before. In moments, seven different Aya Stars appeared in his hand.
"Not a bad hammer," Marcus smiled as he returned Mjolnir to Thor. He raised his eyebrows and added, "I see you rely too much on this hammer. Perhaps you should change your title—how about 'God of Hammers'?"
The moment Marcus withdrew his Void power, Thor felt his connection to Mjolnir return, and Odin finally relaxed, fully entering the Odinsleep.
"God of Hammers Thor? Ha! I like that title," Tony laughed as he landed beside them. Opening his helmet, he looked at Marcus. "You never mentioned your strength was so impressive!"
Though the Destroyer had ultimately been smashed by Thor's hammer, Marcus had thoroughly ravaged it beforehand.
Like a metal punching bag, it had endured Marcus's terrifying power. The massive crater outside town stood as testament to that fact.
"I don't believe I need to report everything about myself, do I?"
Patting the melted shoulder of Tony's armor, Marcus walked back toward town with a slight smile.
Looking at Mjolnir in Thor's hand, Volstagg leaned forward and attempted to lift it himself. As before, he couldn't budge it.
"Who is that man? How could he hold Thor's hammer?"
He had confirmed for himself that Mjolnir's weight remained unchanged, which meant something special about Marcus. Considering Marcus's previous transformation and the power displayed by his neckless armor...
If not for Marcus's human appearance, Volstagg might have suspected him of being a craftsman from the dwarf royal family.
"He's my parents' bodyguard. I don't know much about his origins."
Tony replied thoughtfully. He had believed the vibranium battle suit his father created for Marcus was the man's greatest asset.
Who would have thought that battle suit was actually the weakest equipment in Marcus's arsenal, and its power the least impressive of his abilities?
Tony had thought he knew enough about Marcus, but it now seemed he knew nothing of the man's past at all.
Those Hydra agents who had attacked his parents probably never expected that, in Marcus's eyes, their threat was comparable to roadside ants.
"He's truly mysterious. I need to learn more about his past."
With that thought, Tony flew toward their temporary house.
The battle was over, and the hammer reclaimed by its owner. All the research here was now meaningless.
Midway through his flight, Tony turned slowly in the air to look at the motionless Destroyer on the ground.
"That armor is impressive. I should take it with me!"
He needed to continue upgrading his Iron Man suit. He already had the vibranium alloy his father had left at the farm, and the Destroyer's material would be an excellent addition. Perhaps he could fuse it with the vibranium to complete an upgrade.
At least in the future, when facing high-temperature beams like the Destroyer's, he wouldn't need to worry about his suit's defensive capabilities.
With this in mind, Tony immediately flew toward the Destroyer at high speed.
Seeing Tony's intention, Thor raised no objections. He had already smashed the Destroyer into scrap. If Tony wanted it, there was no harm in letting him take it.
Just as Tony was about to claim the Destroyer, a car pulled up beside him.
"Mr. Stark, can you explain what happened in town? And where did this giant metal man in your hands come from?"
"Ask them. I need to take this thing back."
With that, he picked up the Destroyer and flew slowly toward their temporary residence.
Coulson, meanwhile, observed Thor in his chain mail, red cloak, and hammer in hand.
"If I remember correctly, you were released on bail from our facility just days ago.
At the time, you appeared to be Dr. Selvig's student. Now you look more like a warrior!"
Coulson's assessment made Thor nod.
He felt no animosity toward Coulson, the mortal who had detained him. He hadn't resisted arrest then, allowing Coulson's agents to take him into custody.
"My name is Thor Odinson. I am not an Earth mortal—I come from Asgard."
After introducing himself solemnly to Coulson, Thor turned to look at Dr. Selvig and the others who were approaching.
"There are matters I must attend to in Asgard. Until I return, I hope you can keep them safe."
