Chapter 42- Goodbyes
"Anyway, how about you guys? You guys came back with the shadow sect secret art, which means that you must have found a way to get past the Shadow sect ancestor. Am sure that by now he'll be furious and on his way here right now! So should we be prepared? Am sure he's vomiting blood right now!" Trogan said with excitement. Clearly eager to hear their side of the story.
'Yes, yes. He spat out a lot of blood.' Grey rolled his eyes backwards and said inwardly.
"Well actually, we don't have to fear the Shadow sect coming for us now. Or ever! Because we eradicated the entire sect!" The Captain said coolly and calmly. Zuro had a slight frown and Trogan had surprise written all over his face.
"Really Captain, you don't know how to joke!" Trogan shook his head and laughed but when he saw that the Captain was not smiling, his laughter died down.
"He's joking right! You guys should tell me that he's joking!" Trogan looked at them and raised his voice a little. Grey did not say anything, Ange was silent and Luo just sighed.
"You eradicated a whole sect? Don't get me wrong, Captain but that sect had a Foundation Establishment expert as their ancestor. So unless you killed him there seems to be no other way!"
Actually, when Zuro and the rest saw the Captain come back, they thought that things hadn't gone according to plan. And he came back for back up. But here he was proclaiming that he dealt with the entire sect.
Everyone knew that gaps between levels could be surpassed. Those rues where loose enough, but there was a strict rule in the universe no one could fight on equal ground with another who was in a different realm.
There was a heaven and earth difference between them!
What the Captain was proclaiming is supposed to be impossible. Such a thing has never been done before. Everyone knew that one Foundation Establishment expert could suppress a hundred Qi accumulation cultivators even in the perfected level. But only four people went to conquer a sect and came back successful. No one would believe them if they said it out loud.
A short while later, Luo began to explain to them what happened when they got the sect. Their surprise turned to shock, and finally horror.
Their eyes were wide opened with everything that Luo told them. They couldn't almost believe it.
"Wow Captain, you're that strong huh." Trogan let out a wry smile as he shook his head. The Captain just shook his head.
"No, am not that strong. If I were, I would have the Shadow that came out from him in the end. Yet Grey had to fight something like and it's another miracle he's still alive." The Captain then paused before he spoke again.
"Now that the shadow sect is gone from this area, I don't think they'll be any problems after I've gone."
After he said that, everybody's expression turned gloomy. Their thoughts drifted to the other day when the Captain was told by the old man in the Foundation Establishment realm that his exile was over.
The Captain said that he couldn't leave immediately because he still had responsibilities to uphold in the scavenger camp. But it looked like destroying the Shadow sect was also one of his responsibilities. The authentic version is on M|V|LEMPY_R.
'So what he said about destroying the Shadow sect because he wanted to give their secret art as a gift was not entirely true. He also wanted to ensure that the camp would remain safe even without him here!' Grey's thoughts seemed to echo in everyone's mind as well.
They all knew that this was the last time they'll be seeing him. He just came back to say goodbye. Suddenly, Luo stood up and went into her office with an indifferent face. When she came back, she had her bags with her and put it into her storage bag.
"Well, it looks like our journey ends here." She said as she removed a flock of her that was hanging below her face. She let out a bitter smile and walked through the door.
Everyone was still stunned when Ange wanted to follow her out but Luo stopped her. "Look Ange, you can't follow me to where am going. You refining talent would definitely be sought after. Besides, you are old enough to take care of yourself now! Why would people think if they saw me with a young girl such as yourself. It would be bad for my image." She said with a wry smile and a bitter expression. Ange didn't say anything but a single tear fell from her face. She didn't sob or cry. Nothing.
'It's true now that I think about it, everyone here in this room could only be more than twenty. Despite their appearances they could still be called kids.' Grey's then glanced at the Captain who hadn't said a single word now.
And with a lost expression on her face, Ange sat down back next Grey. Tears finding way to escape and run down her pretty face. Grey wanted to give her some words of sympathy, or at least encouragement. But he had nothing.
So he just let her rest her head on his shoulder. 'Silence is the best encouragement I can give to her now.'
Because no one turned to look at the distant Luo, no one could see her fighting back tears. After a short while, she cleaned her teary face which was now full of determination and resolve.
Back in the shop, everyone sat with gloomy expressions on their faces. No one had expected Luo to leave the way she did, but they had no right to tell her to stay. Neither did she have an obligation to either.
With a soft sigh, the Captain stood up and walked towards the exit. He then lingered for a moment before he spoke to Grey and Ange.
"You guys can come with me if you want. The Sky Mist academy would definitely accept students of your caliber."
No one was surprised or stunned. Grey just helped Ange stand up and together they walked towards the exit. As he was about exiting the shop, Grey turned to look at the three men who had lost expressions on their faces, he said.
"Don't worry, if it is by fate, we'll meet again." With that, he turned her back and left. Not seeing the surprise on their faces before it curled up into a smile.
As they walked out from the scavenger camp, Tyler suddenly flew down wearing her emerald green dress. She had said that she would wait for them outside before the Captain was ready to go. Now here she was.
She waved her hand and a green magic ship of about thirty meters long appeared. This boat gave off a very strong sense of divinity but unlike the Captain's wild and temperamental boat, Tyler's was calm and serene.
With all if them aboard, the magic ship rose into the air. After rising for about two hundred feet, they could see the whole of the scavenger camp. Including the small figures of Zuro, Trogan and Freies.
Grey looked at the Captain's house that was far away from the rest of the camp and sighed with melancholy. This could be said to be his first home ever since he had transmigrated.
After ship rose about a few hundred feet more, it suddenly transformed into a green light that flew rapidly into the distance.
Because they were enveloped by a green protective barrier, they couldn't feel the fast flowing wind nor hear the sound of howling wind being torn apart.
Grey sat down cross-legged to cultivate. His wounds were almost fully healed and his strength was almost back to peak capacity.
Not only that, he felt that soon he would be able to break through to the next level of Qi accumulation. Just as he was about to enter deep meditation, the Captain approached him and dropped the secret art of the Shadow sect in front of him.
"Read the Shadow sect art and tell me if there's anything wrong with it. The trip to the Sky Mist Academy is very long, so take your time!" the captain said as he dropped the jade slip containing the shadow sect secret art.
Grey gave the captain a strange look before proceeding to study the shadow sect secret art, 'Shadow Dominance'. Grey looked at the jade slip with a pensive expression on his face as his mind got absorbed in reading.
From the side, Tyler watched Grey read the secret art, but she didn't say anything. Instead, her eyes were on the captain who stood not long away. "It's good that you are bringing these kids along to the Sky Mist academy. They could each be called geniuses, especially Grey." Tyler suddenly said which forced the captain to raise an eyebrow.
"And why do you think that?" The captain said.
Tyler was silent for a few seconds before she spoke." Ange is refining genius who will go a long way on the path of medicine. But that is just it! Her talent only lies in medicine. Grey on the other hand... when last did you see someone like him refine poison to such a level? Ange has been refining pills for long time, yet she wouldn't dare try to refine poison. When did Grey start refining poison, and how proficient in it has he gotten? His realm might not be high, but once he is groomed... i fear to imagine how strong he will become. He has unlimited potential. I can see that, just like the same way you had unlimited potential as well."
The captain was silent for several minutes before he nodded. He felt that everything she said was correct. He had given Grey the shadow sect secret art to study with the hope that he would be able to cast it. Back when Grey casted his heavenly sword art the first time, the captain was paying attention and saw some fluctuations coming from his shadow.
One of the requirements to practice the Shadow sect secret art 'Shadow Dominance' was to have a certain amount of corrosive substance inside your shadow, which was impossible considering that shadows weren't tangible objects. Yet only special people like the shadow sect ancestor and most of the elders, along with other strong warriors in the sect.
The shadow sect once proclaimed that their art was made by a Emperor, no one remembered the name of that emperor but that the emperor was super strong. Able to fight against several other emperors thanks to this art.
No one believed this of course, cause emperor level arts were super rare and difficult to find. But they also had conditions that was even more difficult. If the shadow sect secret shadow art was really an emperor level cultivation art, then it would be a priceless treasure of unknown value.
