Void Cultivation

Chapter 43- Authentication

But all of this Grey did not seem to be aware of as he wholly concentrated on reading the Shadow sect secret art.

Actually to be able to learn this art, one must have great perception and control over the corrosive substance within their body. Everyone knew that was impossible since the corrosive substance left behind by God was invasive and hard to deal with, but they were some special people who had a certain amount of control over their shadows.

The first step in learning this art was guiding the corrosive substance from one's body into their shadow.

'This art seems to be tailor made for me already! All the corrosive substance within my body is already fully absorbed by my shadow, so it means I can go on to the next stage.'

The second stage involved filling the outline of ones Shadow with spirit energy. Once you've done that, you can begin to mold your Shadow into any shape with the spirit energy acting as the flesh and the corrosive substance acting as blood.

Grey's brows furrows into a deep frown. Everything recorded in the Jade slip seems easier said than done, cause he knew that just getting to the second stage would be much harder than getting to the first.

The second stage required one to have a strong cultivation base that can supply spirit energy. Grey was strong without a doubt, being able to fight other cultivators in the perfected level of Qi accumulation while he was still in the fifth level. But strength wouldn't be needed here.

After that, Grey found that he couldn't understand the rest of the art. It was like he was just looking at gibberish. But since this art was intriguing, he decided to remember it. The Shadow sect members had not been able to fully display the power of the Shadow sect secret art. But maybe he could.

As he committed the memory of the Jade slip to his heart, he felt his body tremble with excitement.

After the fight with the Shadow sect, he felt himself close to breaking through to the next level. He had been stuck at the fifth level for a really long time, so he really wanted to overcome this bottleneck.

A few minutes later, the captain came back and took the shadow sect secret art. But he had already engraved it into his mind so he wasn't worried.

And with that, he fell into a meditative state with the flying ship moving towards a direction at an unimaginable speed.

Despite how fast the magic ship was moving, it was still two days since they set off. Grey heard the story of the Sky Mist Academy and getting there by foot would take several years.

The best way to cross such an unimaginable distance was to use a teleportation rune. But they had not slowed down once while flying so Grey guessed that they were not taking a teleportation rune.

On the third day, the captain who was cultivating by the side suddenly opened his eyes. His face was full of nostalgia and melancholy. A few seconds later, Grey and Ange also opened their eyes and looked into the distance.

What came to view was the gigantic like city that stood at the edge of the sea. This city was enveloped by a blue dome but even from the distance, they could feel the power radiating from the dome.

When they got within range, strange arrays suddenly appeared in the sky and locked unto them.

Out from the city, a single cultivator flew out. His eyes let out a bright gleam as he let the full power of his cultivation base erupt.

When Grey felt the sheer pressure coming from the man, he heard rumbling sounds going off in his head. He felt like he was before a great beast that would swallow him whole. And to avoid being swallowed, he must prostrate. The purple crystal suddenly let out a purple light but since it was inside him, no one noticed. With the purple light, Grey was freed from the overwhelming pressure.

'What the hell is this aura!'

He circulated his cultivation base and slowly he dispelled the oppressive feeling from his body with the purple crystal's help.

When he turned his head, he saw he wasn't the only one who had been affected. The captain and Ange also showed some signs of being affected as their faces turned pale. Their bodies trembled a bit as if they were under great pressure but suddenly, the captain shrugged it off and looked at the single cultivator solemnly, but deep within his eyes you could a bright gleam.

Even Tyler who had the strongest cultivation among them was beginning to sweat under the imposing aura. But when she brought out a plate, the aura retracted.

The man then had respect on his face as he bowed a little and said.

"Miss Tyler, you are back? Sorry for the trouble. Shall i immediately find a place for you to dock your vessel?" The man said respectfully with his head lowered slightly.

Seeing this, Tyler scoffed and waved her hand to him. Under the imposing arrays, they were guided to a harbor near the gate of the Sky Mist academy.

Tyler brought out her identity token and the arrays dissipated back into the dome.

"Alright, I have brought us here but you guys have to get authentication to stay. If after twenty four hours you don't have your own identity token, the Sky Mist city's array would kill you shortly." Tyler said as the ship flew back into a bottle and disappeared.

Seeing the entrance, they willed their bodies to walk into the huge metropolis called Sky Mist city.

Sky mist city looked a lot different from the outside world. There were huge metal buildings so high that they even dwarfed the ones in Antler city, making it look like a small hut. Read ahead and get updates at M*V*L*E*M*P*Y*R.

The air was cleaner here and the amount of corrosive substance reduced to the minimum. As Grey took his time to take in the beauty of Sky mist city, he felt his cultivation begin to stir on his own.

A bounty of spirit energy began to flow into his body, bringing closer to the next level. Ange walked over to his side and whispered to his ears.

"Are you feeling it? The wealth of spirit energy and lack if corrosive substance, this is the power of the sky must city's array." Ange said as she also took in the beauty of sky mist city. Her previous sadness about the departure of Luo was gone.

Lead by Tyler who had a disguise on, they went to one of the administrative buildings and got registered as citizens of Sky mist city.

"Now let me tell you some things you must know. To life in Sky must city or the Sky mist academy, you must pay a certain amount of money each day. Because this is your first day, you will be free from that. But from tomorrow, you will have to start paying. Do you guys want to stay in Sky mist city for a while before you come to the academy?"

The captain shook his head, Grey and Ange have never come to Sky mist city before. So, they didn't have any place of interest. They also shook their heads.

"Great. Then let's get going."

Over ten thousand years ago, the founder of Sky mist academy and an emperor at that time decided to increase the size of the academy and made a city around it. This city was later called Sky mist city.

On their way to Sky mist academy, the captain suddenly spoke up.

"Have you heard of the origin of humans?"

"Origin of humans?" Grey raised an eyebrow and tilted his head a little. Ange also looked at him in confusion. Seeing their faces, the captain began.

"Over fifteen thousand years ago before God first descended, there were three continents. The first continent, the second continent and the third continent.

Out of the three continent, the first was the smallest and the third was the largest. Humans lived on the first continent for several centuries before they got strong enough to venture to the other continents.

During their first years, humanity were attacked by inhuman races that sought to exterminate them."

"Why did they want to exterminate us?' Ange asked. The captain paused for a few seconds and then continued.

"The reason was because humans grew too fast. They matured early and grew more powerful than the inhuman races.

In fear for their lives, the inhuman races gathered together to exterminate the whole human race which had already grown by a lot. Besieged from all sides, humanity fled the first continent and crossed the boundless sea to the second continent under the leadership of the first emperor. The human emperor!

Lead by the Human emperor, humanity carved out a small corner of the second continent and called it their home. Under the rule of the human emperor, humanity flourished and spirit technology began to develop. Soon more emperors of humanity came and humans began to expand their reach on the second continent. Nine of them were the strongest emperors second only to the Human emperor.

In time, the nine emperors after the Human emperor all became his subordinates. Their names were the Sword emperor; Ghost emperor; Dragon emperor; Poison emperor; and Divine emperor. The remaining four emperor names were lost in time but everyone knew they were second only to the Human emperor himself.

The Human emperor after seeing humanity flourish, left the second continent in search for power. Legends say that he went past the emperor realm and became a deity. He then became a god. But that was just legend. Nobody really knew what happened to the Human emperor after he left, since that time he was said to have vanished.

Under the leadership of the nine subordinate emperors, humanity began to take over the second continent bit by bit. The inhuman races there were afraid and tried to gang up on them. But humanity learnt from their mistakes and repelled the attacks, further making their stand on the second continent as the number one race.

After two thousand years, humanity ruled over the entire second continent and were making plans to venture to the first continent and the third continent when disaster struck.

God suddenly appeared and with his descendance came the invasive corrosive substance.

The first and second continent transformed completely. The third continent, which was the biggest was scattered into many islands. The boundless sea became the dead sea and many humans and inhuman races died. From their deaths, new creatures and races transformed into different things and a perverse life came forth.

These new lives were called bizarre existences. They were bizarre because no on knows their origin and worked by their own will.

These bizarre existences were strong enough to contend with the human race' emperors. After a long and bloody battle in which humanity lost ninety percent of it's forced, seven out of nine emperors fell and the rest of humanity's warriors took humans away from the second continent and to one of the broken islands of the third continent called the holy hands."

"Do you know why am telling you all this?" That captain asked.

Seeing them shake their heads, the captain spoke. "Because the Sky mist academy was built by the Ghost emperor! One of the first emperors of humanity!"

"Eh!"
