Chapter 40- To be stronger than Ice Tide Caster

The Captain opened his eyes to see a beautiful sight. A green clothed lady holding him tightly in her soft embrace. Her eyes closed as tears ran down the side of her face.

Seeing this beautiful and familiar face, the Captain unintentionally spoke out loud.

"Myer?"

The Captain's voice was hoarse and sounded like the grating of iron. The slender lady opened her eyes when she heard Captain call her.

She then chuckled and small drops of tears fell from her face. "It's Tyler, not Myer." She said bitterly.

There was confusion on the Captain's face before realization hit him and he frowned.

"Oh!" He said simply before standing up from her lap. The slender lady let him stand up and watched him with a bitter smile as he struggled to stand up.

"Did you enjoy the show?" He said with his back facing her. He nodded curtly at Luo before taking his gaze down to the Shadow sect which was destroyed below.

The slender lady, whose name is Tyler, raised her eyebrow in surprise. "You knew I was watching you this whole time?" She then stood up, not caring to dust her clothes.

"No, not really. I just felt your presence when I activated my domain." He said calmly.

Myer was silent and just nodded. The Captain waved his hand and his magic ship flew out. He jumped and landed on the deck before giving Myer a knowing gaze.

Luo's gaze lingered on Tyler for a sew seconds before she hopped onto the Captain's magic ship as well.

"Your exile is over..." She said as she looked at the Captain standing on his magic ship. His slightly long hair now set free and fluttering lightly in the wind.

The Captain gave her a curt nod at her before slowly retracting his gaze. His eyes were filled with nostalgia and longing.

"You can stay if you want! I will be going back to the academy soon. The Captain said right as she was about to leave. She paused in her action. Even Luo looked at him with a strange expression. This was the first time the Captain was speaking to anybody with that much softness and nostalgia, no matter how hard he tried to hide it.

Tyler nodded and flew over to the Captain's ship. She did not jump, or do any fancy skills that could allow one to fly! She really flew to the Captain's ship on her own. Proving that she was at least in the Foundation Establishment realm, if not higher.

With a flick of her wrist, her gigantic ship shrunk down till it could fit inside a bottle, and went into her sleeve. She then took careful steps and stood behind the Captain. Two feet farther than Luo stood.

Luo was still stunned and processing the countless information entering her mind right now that she didn't even notice.

The Captain took a look below and saw Grey still fighting with the Shadow of the Shadow sect ancestor. His figure was bloodied and bruised. So many injuries covered his once pristine skin. Some of the wounds had even turned purple and black, especially the ones on his face. But his expression was unwavering as he continued to clash with the Shadow' sect ancestor every few seconds.

Loud booming sounds rang out and with each new bang, he flew out like an artillery shell spitting blood.

The Captain looked at this in cold silence and watched for several minutes. When he saw that Grey couldn't handle it anymore, he raised his hand and a blue sword appeared. Brought to you by MV6LEMPY6R.

But he didn't seem to notice it's appearance and just threw it at the Shadow. The Shadow lunged at Grey once again and right as it's seven claws were about to tear him to pieces, a blue sword suddenly arrived and impaled it.

Grey was startled a bit but when he looked up and saw the Captain, thankfulness appeared on his face and he gave a low nod. He looked at the slender lady behind him curiously but removed his gaze the next second. He took some minutes to catch his breath. His grievous injuries were starting to heal thanks to the purple crystal.

In his mind,

'If the Captain didn't have any problem with her, why should i?'

The Shadow of all the Shadow sect members struggled and shifted under the blue sword, but no matter what it did, the sword did not even as much as budge.

Grey was looking at this Shadow with disdain. "The Shadow sect ancestor died, and yet he took everyone from the sect with him. Very disgusting!" With the raise of a hand, a faint purple sword appeared over his head and he struck down in one simple motion.

That one simple motion looked ordinary and plain, but no mater how the Shadow of the Shadow sect ancestor looked at it, he couldn't escape. With it's mysteriousness and calm aura that seemed like it would stand firm even if the world fell, the Shadow sect ancestor let out a scream and was torn into two.

Grey was not expecting blood, but he wasn't expecting darkness to come out either. Darkness like liquid flowed out from the wounds as the Shadow screamed in pain and agony. It's cries caused Grey's eyes to bleed but it died soon after.

As the Shadow slowly dissipated into the ground, Grey let out a frown. The feeling he got from this Shadow was one he would normally get whenever he was facing bizarre existence.

Without this sword art he had learnt from the figure in Dark gold light, he feared he might not have been able to even kill it. But in the end, he soon lost interest and looked at the palace standing on the mountain.

Seeing Grey kill the Shadow of the Shadow sect ancestor, the Captain slowly jumped down. Luo and Tyler followed after him.

"Are you okay?" Luo asked with concern after seeing his miserable appearance, but Grey gave a nod indicating that he was alright.

"Let's go get what we came here for." Said the Captain as they marched towards the palace. Around them littered over the floor were countless corpse.

'I almost forgot we came here for their secret Shadow art!'

But seeing the multitude of dead bodies around him, it was easy to forget their objective for coming here. It was a shame actually, all these lives wasted just because we wanted a secret art. Grey couldn't help but shake his head in pity.

"Don't get any foolish ideas that what we did here was wrong! In this world, power talks. Everything else is bullshit! Because the Shadow sect had power, they went around bullying others and taking over scavenger camps one after the other. It was because they had the strength to defend their actions, that's why they acted anyhow they wanted without fear. Same reason with why we are here! Because I am strong, I can do whatever I want. Including killing a whole sect if it suits my needs. Don't forget that your enemies won't think that rubbish called mercy. They will be thinking about how to kill you instead! Being soft in this cursed world is a weakness. And if you are weak, you will die!" The Captain said coldly and didn't speak again.

'It's true! How could I have forgotten! If we weren't strong, the Shadow sect would have taken over the scavenger camp and enslaved every one of us. Only strength matters in this world. Without it, you are nothing! Because they had strength, the Shadow sect had no problem taking over scavenger camps. Because they had strength, they acted how they wished. If I want to be able to live in this world, I must be powerful! Powerful enough so that I don't have to bend to other's desires!' A strange gleam appeared within Grey's eyes. And with that gleam, came a hunger for power. A hunger that would later change him and make him stand on top of the world. To be an existence that was revered and feared.

Grey didn't even know that the Captain's words would incite an ever-growing desire to be strong.

'I want to be as strong as him, no... I want to be stronger than the him. The number one genius in this Continent!' Grey took a look at the Captain from the side of his eye, forever burning the image of the Captain's domain into his mind. To be stronger than this man called Ice Tide Caster!
