Chapter 65: Learning more about zombie crystals
"Turn around."
"Run."
"Get down."
"Get up."
"Ok, that's it for now; you can go and rest. Tomorrow, the others will train you just like I did. You need to follow what they were saying properly," Luceil said.
In the evening, as soon as Treyton and the others cleaned up a place for them to stay in one of the big houses they saw, the three kids immediately went to him and asked what their training was.
The kids' task was to follow what he was saying as fast as possible. He started slowly giving them more time to execute what he was saying, then commanded faster and faster until they couldn't follow him anymore.
He also stopped and let them rest. They would continue doing such training with the others tomorrow.
Luciel wanted to say something more, but his thoughts were interrupted because of Derek's shout.
"Hahaha! I succeeded!" Derek said happily.
While he was giving commands to the kids, Derek also immediately started trying to absorb one of the zombie crystals as soon as they finished cleaning up the house they were going to stay in temporarily.
As soon as the others heard Derek's excited shout, those who were doing their own things immediately paid attention to him.
Luceil also went to where they were because Treyton and the others were already there when Derek started absorbing the zombie crystal to observe what would happen to him.
When he got to where they were, he heard them talking about how Derek absorbed the zombie crystal and its effects.
"It's really successful. How did you do it?" Yang asked.
"I just guided the energy from the crystal to where my energy core is until I emptied out the energy inside it."
"Did it increase your strength?"
"Yes, just like absorbing the energies around, I could feel that my ability strengthens a bit. The energy inside the crystal is also more concentrated than the energy that we are absorbing in the open."
"So, it's better to have a lot of these zombie crystals," Yang concluded.
"We need to start gathering zombie crystals. So, from now on, we won't just ignore those zombies that will be chasing us. We need to gather as many as we can while traveling for us to gain more strength and to use it for other purposes later," Treyton said.
With what Treyton said, their traveling speed would certainly slow down again as they would be dealing with zombies while traveling.
But having zombie crystals was indeed a good thing for them. It seemed that Treyton also realized the value of zombie crystals.
The zombie crystals would make their abilities stronger with less time, so it was better to collect them than just to rely on what they were absorbing in their surroundings.
Treyton also seemed to realize that zombie crystals could also be used for other purposes.
Now, that money already doesn't have any value because of the chaotic situation. Most people were just trading what they needed from others or were looking for it themselves.
Treyton had foreseen that zombie crystals might be used as currency later, as long as they remain useful.
"Ok."
The others didn't have any objections about what Treyton said. They knew that it would also be useful, so they didn't have any objections.
Because of killing zombies, their speed really slowed down. They only reached the place where Nate wanted to stop by in the afternoon, which they would have been able to reach in the morning if they didn't keep on dealing with the zombies on the road.
Nate said that they needed to stop by his brother's house to see if they were still there, but when they arrived, there was no one in their house.
Nate and the others checked it carefully, and no one was really in the house. However, the house was currently clean and tidy, and after looking around carefully, they saw that there were fewer clothes, and the kitchen was also empty, so it seemed that the people that were living in the house went somewhere else.
No one was in the house, and the space wasn't enough for all of them to stay, so they decided to continue driving to look for a place to stay for the night.
Fortunately, before it got dark, they saw a covered basketball court and decided to stop there.
When they reached the court, they saw that some people were already there. Those people looked at them warily but didn't do anything.
Yang and Zam went down and talked to them for a bit before coming back.
"How is it?" Treyton asked.
"They don't mind us staying as long as we don't disturb each other and mind our own business."
"Did you find out anything else?"
"I'll talk to them more later. We just came back to tell everyone that it's okay to set things up," Yang said.
Afterwards, they went to the other cars and informed them that they could disembark and set up a place for them to stay for the night.
Treyton decided to let them set up a place at one end of the court, which would give them more distance to the earlier group, who also occupied one end of the court.
Luciel and Treyton didn't go out immediately but waited for the others to set things up before they went down.
As soon as they disembarked, Luciel heard Ava complaining again.
"We are going to stay in such a place again! Can't we find a better place?" Ava said in distaste.
All of them were already accustomed to Ava's complaints because every time they stopped somewhere, she would always have a complaint about it.
They already learned to just ignore her complaints and let her bodyguards appease her; sometimes Nathan would go and help in coaxing her.
"Brother Treyton, can't we really go and find a better place than here? " Ava said as soon as she saw them.
"No, this is the best place for us so far. We can't continue looking for a place to stay because it's already dark," Treyton answered.
"But there isn't even a bedroom here; how could we stay here?" Ava said again.
In the previous places they stayed at when Ava came, there were at least bedrooms, so Ava was always allocated with at least one bedroom where she could stay.
Ava's treatment aside from him and Treyton was the best. The others also didn't complain about it because her bodyguards were doing their best to help the group. They were also strong, so they were quite helpful.
Treyton and her brother were also friends, so others have no complaints about her treatment.
"Why are you even worrying about a bedroom when you're not going to even sleep outside but in your car?" Luciel pointed out.
"Oh yeah," Ava said, finally realizing that she wouldn't even sleep outside.
After she realized it, she stopped her complaints but instead directed her bodyguards to arrange her car properly so that she would have a comfortable sleeping place.
If her bodyguards weren't strong enough, no one would doubt that they were actually her nannies.
Luciel was really amazed that they could still stand her temper. Even though they actually don't have to cater to her whims, as long as they could protect her safety, then it would have been enough.
He really doesn't understand how they could be so dedicated. Well, as long as it won't disturb him, then he really doesn't have to care about it.
Luciel and Treyton went to the place where they set up seats and some tables, which was obviously the place where they would eat later.
Luciel just sat down and continued playing something on his phone while Treyton was observing their surroundings.
Yang and Zam also went to the people who were in the court earlier than them to ask some questions.
"So, what did you find?" Treyton asked when Yang and Zam came back.
"They are all people near this community. They are all going to a nearby settlement area here," Yang said.
"A settlement area?"
"Yes, it seemed that some powerful people set up a settlement area here.
They are also actively accepting people, so someone from this community heard of it and invited those who wanted to go to their place.
They heard that people with superpowers were protecting the area, so they wanted to go there," Yang explained.
"Did you learn something more about the settlement area they are talking about?" Treyton asked while frowning a bit.
"I tried asking more about it, but those people really don't know much about it. They only heard that those people don't reject people, and they have a lot of people with abilities. They don't even know who the leader is or the people who's running the settlement area," Yang replied.
"Do you want to check out that settlement area?" Luciel asked after looking at Treyton's face.
"Yes, let's stop by tomorrow," Treyton answered.
