Chapter 36: Addition to the Group
Why would there even be a lot of zombies chasing them out of the gym when the disaster happened nearly at midnight?
"What happened? Why are there a lot of zombies coming out with them?" Yang also asked in alarm while looking at everyone who was running as fast as they could.
Wes quickly started the car, and Luciel also opened the door so that they could leave as soon as possible. If they don't, they would be surrounded by the incoming zombies and wouldn't be able to leave quickly.
As soon as Treyton and Zam entered, Wes drove out immediately, followed by the other cars.
"What happened? Why are there a lot of zombies chasing you guys?" Luciel asked while looking at Treyton, who was removing his gloves.
"They were also having a celebration that night; that's why there were a lot of zombies," Treyton briefly explained.
"What bad luck," Luciel concluded.
If they were having a party, it meant that all of them became unconscious, which was extremely disadvantageous when someone woke up as a zombie first.
"Yeah," Treyton also agreed.
"Yang, can you make a waterball? I need to wash up," Treyton said while wiping his hands.
"Here," Yang said while making a water ball and moving it in front of Treyton.
Treyton washed his hands, then Yang threw the used water out of the window. He also made another one for Wes. Afterwards, Treyton also removed his outer clothes.
"I'm done cleaning up a bit. You don't need to stay too far from me," Treyton said while looking at Luciel.
Luciel, who moved to the other side of the seat after opening the door for Treyton.
"So, did you guys manage to see Conner's friends?" Luciel asked while moving to sit properly and stopped moving away from Treyton.
He still remembered that they went to the gym because Conner, one of Treyton's bodyguards, wanted to see his friends.
"I'm not sure if he saw all of his friends, but we indeed met some of them. We were rushing out because of the huge number of zombies; that's why we didn't have much time to ask any questions. We will be talking to them later on," Treyton said.
"I see."
After satisfying his curiosity, he didn't bother asking anymore questions and started playing games instead. He played some games and fell asleep afterwards.
"Ciel, wake up. It's time for lunch."
"Where are we?" Luciel asked after opening his eyes.
"We stopped at one of the small supermarkets nearby. The others are already cleaning up the area," Treyton answered.
Luciel looked around and saw that Zam and the others were not in the car anymore.
"Let's also go then," Luceil said while stretching a bit.
"Ok, let's go," Treyton said and opened the car. Luciel also followed after getting his backpack.
Luciel looked around and saw that they were still farther away from the center; that's why he couldn't see a lot of zombies. It seemed that Treyton and the others detoured for a bit because they weren't using the main road.
The supermarket in front of him wasn't as big as those that he saw in the city center. But it was more than enough for all of them.
As soon as they entered the supermarket, he saw that everyone was busy setting up a temporary place for them.
Seeing that everyone was still busy setting up a place for them, he walked around the supermarket and picked a few chocolates and chips to eat.
He saw a lot of things he wanted to take, but unfortunately he still couldn't put them away because their space would be exposed.
Anyway, before leaving later on, he and Treyton would surely take the goods to the supermarket.
When he got back, they were already done fixing a temporary place for them. So, he went and sat together with Treyton, who was already talking to Conner and the other people from the sports gym.
"Conner, did you meet everyone you wanted to see?" Treyton asked.
"Not everyone, but at least I was still able to help most of them," Conner said with a sad voice.
"I see."
"Can someone explain what happened to you guys in the past few days?" Treyton asked while looking at the others from the sports gym.
"Hello, Sir, once again, thank you for saving us. My name is Mark; I am the owner of the gym," Mark said. He was one of the five people that came from the sports gym.
"No need to say thanks. Mark, can you tell me what happened there? Why are there a lot of zombies in there in the first place?"
"As we said earlier, we had a party in the gym arranged by the sports committee in our area and invited a lot of people. However, we suddenly lost consciousness.
Bran woke the next day and tried to call the police and the hospital as soon as he saw that everyone was still unconscious; unfortunately, he couldn't reach anyone. He couldn't reach anyone, so he carried all of us to our rooms at the side of the gym.
Thanks to him carrying us to our own rooms at the gym, we weren't eaten or bitten by the people who became zombies afterwards.
When I woke up on the third day, all the other people in the gym were already zombies aside from us who managed to go to our rooms in the gym.
However, we don't have enough food in our rooms; we only managed to pass our days from the energy bars in Peter's room.
We can't even get out because the zombies were blocking our way, and we don't have any decent weapon that could deal with a lot of zombies. That's why we were trapped in the gym for many days already. We even lost Bran and Sana because they also turned into zombies after being scratched by them," Mark narrated calmly.
"I see. Thank you for telling us," Treyton said.
No wonder they looked famished; they haven't been able to eat properly in the past few days. When they were running away from the zombies, Luciel could see that they didn't even have the energy to run properly. Fortunately, they have the determination to survive; that's why they were able to get on the cars on time.
"Conner wanted to look for you guys, but what are your plans from now on?" Treyton asked.
"We already talked about that a while ago. If possible, we also want to join you."
"That's possible, but everyone should know that we are going north," Treyton said while looking at them.
"Yes, we understand; Conner already told us about it," Mark said.
"Ok, then you guys are free to join us," Treyton said.
"Thank you very much; we will do our best not to be a burden to you guys," Mark said happily. The others also hurriedly thanked Treyton with relief smiles.
After looking at the others who were extremely grateful to Treyton, he can't help but shake his head a bit.
Luciel already knew that Treyton actually already planned to take those people with him, so they don't need to feel extremely grateful because they would surely do a lot of things from now on.
With Treyton's personality, he surely wouldn't go north just to be supported by his mother's family. He was surely planning to have his own people that could follow him later on. He doesn't want to keep following someone's order, so he needed to have enough power to resist. So, he was surely going to keep expanding his forces while going north.
It could already be seen from the build of those 5 people that they have uses and could also be strong fighters. So, Treyton would surely accept them as long as they were willing.
In the novel, Treyton also did such a thing, so when he arrived North, he already had some followers with him.
"What are you shaking your head for?" Treyton asked.
"Nothing," Luciel replied, and Treyton also didn't pursue it because Nina and the others were already done preparing their lunch.
The lunch that Nina and the others prepared was very simple, as they don't have enough time to prepare something more complicated. Anyway, even though the lunch that was prepared was simple, it was still delicious.
After having their lunch, Treyton gathered everyone except for those that needed to act as lookouts for zombies.
They discussed the route that they were going to take to go to where Myla's sister is. While they were discussing, Luciel was just leaning on Treyton while playing games.
In the novel, Myla was one of the people who was with Treyton, so the first place that Treyton actually stopped by in the novel was where Myla's sister was.
It was also where Treyton met one of the annoying characters in the novel. He really doesn't want to meet such an annoying person, so he was hoping that they would have left already.
