Chapter 310: Luciel in action 9

When he arrived near the military center, Luciel started looking for someone he recognized among the soldiers who were protecting the area.

He needed to at least inform someone of what he was about to do so they could let the others know and avoid confusion, especially with how many people were in the military zone.

After quickly scanning the people who were working hard to defend the military area, he spotted Treyton's uncle, Uncle Jeremy, who was commanding other soldiers while also fighting the birds himself.

Upon seeing Uncle Jeremy, Luciel jumped down to where he was, fighting birds along the way, and said, "Uncle Jeremy, I'm going to cover the military area with vines for additional protection. You can ask your soldiers to retreat a bit inside once I start."

"Any additional protection is very welcome. Thank you very much," Uncle Jeremy replied before turning to the soldiers and immediately issuing commands.

After hearing Uncle Jeremy's response, Luciel didn't wait for him to finish giving orders. Instead, he went straight to the top of the tallest building in the military area.

Luciel removed the two vines in his hand that he had just pulled from their space a while ago. He divided them into multiple sub-vines, then grew them thicker and longer before extending them toward the ground and wrapping them around the entire military center.

The area was large, so he had to maintain his control over the vines for a longer time before he finished covering the entire place with four layers.

He also created several openings to serve as doors, along with some window-sized gaps so that the soldiers could observe the situation outside and move more freely while continuing their rescue efforts.

Since there were still a lot of soldiers stationed in the area, Luciel wasn't too worried about leaving those openings.

He didn't bother to thoroughly check his work afterward, as he had already stayed on the rooftop for quite a while, and more birds had begun attacking him.

He still had to go to where Treyton and the others were, so he didn't bother staying any longer and began heading toward the base wall.

On the way, he retrieved another two vines from his space, since he had already used up all the energy stored in the two vines he had taken out earlier, mainly due to how wide the military area was.

While traveling toward the base wall, he passed by the temporary housing zone. He only intended to thin out the birds attacking that area a bit while on his way.

However, while he was fighting some birds and happened to glance below, he noticed a temporary tent with a child peeking out from inside.

The tent had clearly already been attacked by birds, as it was almost completely destroyed. The surrounding tents were in similar condition. Luciel didn't see any other living people in the area; it was obvious that the others had either managed to run away or had already been killed by the birds.

He looked again at the tent where the child was, and this time, he noticed that there were clearly several more children inside.

Luciel didn't concern himself with why or how many children were there, but he still landed beside the tent and controlled the vines in his hand, beginning to cover the tent with them.

As he worked, he spoke to the child, "You guys can stay here and go out after all the birds are gone."

Luciel didn't wait for the child's reply. Once the tent was securely covered with vines, he immediately continued on his way to the base walls.

When he arrived, he saw that Treyton had already covered parts of the base wall with metal. Those sections were clearly being used as the main operation area so they wouldn't be too exposed to the birds' attacks.

Luciel also spotted Treyton moving quickly from one place to another, stalling metal covers as fast as he could. He had just finished reinforcing one section and was already hurrying off to make the next metal cover.

The second batch of birds that came had double the numbers, and there were still birds remaining from the first batch. So there were still a lot of birds to deal with, but many soldiers were already exhausted, and a lot of them were already injured.

Treyton had obviously focused on fighting earlier, since the number of birds had started to dwindle. But with the arrival of the second batch, he had to rush to make metal covers to add more protection for the soldiers so they would have a higher chance of survival.

Seeing Treyton working in such a rush, Luciel didn't dawdle. He killed the birds along his way and headed straight to where Treyton was making another metal cover.

"How many meters apart are you going to place your metal covers?" Luciel asked.

"About every 20 to 30 meters at least," Treyton replied, still controlling the metals around him to form a protective cover.

"Okay, I'll handle the other half," Luciel said, then turned and headed in the opposite direction from where Treyton had made his first metal cover.

About 25 meters away from the first metal cover, Luciel created another one using vines.

He followed the same style and size as the ones Treyton had made with metal. He even left the same holes or open spaces in the design, matching Treyton's structure.

Luciel quickly finished forming a protective layer made of vines, and he even reinforced it with three layers.

Once he finished the first one, he continued to create protective covers using vines every 20 meters along the wall, giving soldiers more places to shelter during the attacks.

By the time Luciel met up with Treyton again, it was clear that Luciel had made even more covers than Treyton; he had managed to cover more than half of the base wall.

Well, it was understandable. Treyton had to manipulate the metal directly and use his own energy reserves, unlike Luciel, who was mostly relying on the stored energy in the vines.
