Ruo Dan was certain—Han ShuYi's current goal was to escape, then come back for revenge.

After all, whether it was HuMing or Gu ZhaoChuan, they were the ones who had driven him into this desperate situation.

There was no way Han ShuYi wouldn't want vengeance.

But by now, things had progressed beyond Ruo Dan's control.

The speedboat's key was in Han ShuYi's hands. If he refused to let them go, then Ruo Dan would be stuck here, forced into a dead-end confrontation with HuMing—and that was the last thing he wanted.

So Ruo Dan needed to persuade Han ShuYi—to get him to leave first. They could talk revenge later.

"Han ShuYi, you should know—you and I broke out of prison together. If you don't get out now, they'll catch you again and throw you back in. When that happens, there won't be a second chance. Or what—are you planning to trust HuMing to protect you?"

Han ShuYi's eyes shifted to HuMing.

The two locked gazes, and for a moment, Ruo Dan could see fire burning behind Han ShuYi's eyes.

The sound of voices on the deck grew louder by the second. Time was running out.

After a pause, Han ShuYi silently walked toward the speedboat.

But HuMing called out to him.

"Han ShuYi, you know what's waiting for you if you leave now, right?"

"I already have no future, HuMing. So there's no point in you saying all this to me. You should be thinking about how you're going to explain things to Han LiTian."

With that, he stepped onto the boat and slotted the key into the ignition.

The engine roared to life.

Ruo Dan slammed the throttle, and the speedboat tore off into the night.

HuMing stood watching the boat disappear into the darkness. He let his pistol fall to the floor with a metallic clatter, then sat down heavily.

Moments later, armed figures burst through the hatch behind him, weapons raised and alert to every corner.

"HuMing!" Gu WeiJun paled at the sight of his son on the floor, next to a large pool of blood, and rushed forward.

"I'm fine, Dad."

HuMing looked up at him, forcing a small smile. Only after seeing that his son wasn't injured did Gu WeiJun finally breathe again.

Right behind him, Han LiTian came striding in.

But when he scanned the area, he didn't see Han YunXi. His brows furrowed deeply.

"HuMing, what the hell happened here? All these bodies—was there some kind of mutiny?"

"Dad," HuMing called Han LiTian by the same title he used for Gu WeiJun, "these people were killed by me and Han ShuYi. But YunXi was taken hostage by Ruo Dan. Han ShuYi left with them on the same boat."

HuMing pulled out his phone.

He had no idea where Han ShuYi had hidden the tracker, but the signal was still visible, slowly drifting farther away.

Everyone around him was stunned by what they'd heard.

There were at least twenty or thirty corpses on the floor—yet HuMing was completely unscathed, his eyes calm and sharp.

Was this... really the young master of the Gu family?

Some couldn't help but glance at Gu WeiJun with newfound reverence. But HuMing had no time to care about any of that.

He ordered another speedboat to be prepared immediately. He needed to chase them down.

Han ShuYi wouldn't last long—not with how much blood he'd already lost. HuMing clearly remembered the way his arm was bleeding before they boarded the ship. The paleness in his lips said it all: he was running out of time.

He had to find them—fast.

On the speedboat cutting across the sea, Ruo Dan was the one at the helm.

Han ShuYi sat in the back, and across from him was Han YunXi—tied up, her eyes fixed on him.

She watched as Han ShuYi tore off a strip of his shirt and used his teeth to tighten a makeshift bandage around his arm. The bleeding slowed, but his lips were still pale, and he looked frighteningly weak.

Their guns were both locked away in a safety box between them—neither dared keep a weapon in hand, not when there was so much distrust.

Above them, the sky was pitch black. Not a single star in sight.

Han ShuYi slowly raised his eyes to the girl sitting across from him.

This girl, who had called him "brother" for months, had no blood relation to him at all.

Even now, he didn't know who his real parents were.

He remembered what HuMing had told him. Yes—he might be the "main character" in this story, but probably the kind that started with "both parents dead" on some tragic template.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on it.

He had no idea what came next.

"Han ShuYi… what you said back there… was it true?"

Han YunXi's voice pulled him from his thoughts.

Han ShuYi stared at her in silence. Her face was unreadable, and she didn't even know what emotion she should be feeling anymore.

Anger? Hatred? Sadness?

None of them seemed right.

She had thought he was cruel—but also believed, at the very least, he was her brother. But now, even that turned out to be false.

He had walked into the Han family and destroyed everything.

If not for him, would HuMing have remained that carefree, frivolous rich boy? Would the Han family have stayed untouched, leading a peaceful life?

"Han YunXi, I have no reason to lie to you. And that secret—it was HuMing who told me."

Han YunXi froze.

She hadn't expected that. It was HuMing who found out?

Why hadn't he told her himself? Was he afraid she wouldn't be able to handle it?

Han ShuYi saw her dazed expression and gave a faint, bitter smile.

"If I had to guess, all three of us had our identities swapped. Gu ZhaoChuan was taken to the Gu family. HuMing ended up in the Han family. And me? I had nothing to do with either of you. I was just tricked into playing a role."

He looked at her, his eyes tinged with irony.

"What? Do you hate me now? You should. If it weren't for me, none of this would've happened—right?"

Han YunXi's voice trembled with fury.

"Han ShuYi, what's the point of saying all this now? Did we ever treat you poorly in the Han family? My mom gave you all her love—she wanted to make up for your pain. But you? You only wanted to destroy HuMing. You wanted him erased from this world!"

She was furious. If she hadn't been tied up, she would've slapped him already.

Han ShuYi looked away, his gaze clouded with something she couldn't read.

Then, a sudden thought struck her—a question she hadn't dared ask until now.

"Then… where's my real brother? Do you know where he is? Have you heard anything about him?"
