There is something wrong with Hikigaya’s classroom of the Elite, as expected

Chapter 151

Chapter 151: Class D in Trouble

After leaving the courtyard, Hikigaya didn’t pay much attention to what had just happened between Ichinose and Shiranami Chihiro. What truly caught his interest was something else.

“It seems Kushida acted pretty quickly.”

Hikigaya murmured to himself.

By the time he returned to the classroom, the atmosphere in Class D was noticeably heavy. The students’ expressions carried gloom and unease, and a palpable sense of oppression filled the room.

“It’s all Ayanokouji’s fault, along with those idiots Ike and Yamauchi! Now, thanks to yesterday’s incident where Ichinose was deceived and bullied, the students of Class B are openly hostile toward us!”

A female student couldn’t hold back her frustration, complaining about what had just happened in the cafeteria.

Class B students had come to cause trouble!

Soon, other girls and boys shared similar experiences.

The incident that took place in the special teaching building yesterday had already spread within Class B. Most of them weren’t concerned with the specifics of the violation or its consequences. Their focus was on one thing: Ichinose had been deliberately deceived and used by Class D students, almost resulting in her suspension!

This revelation enraged nearly all of Class B.

“We’ve always helped Class D selflessly, and Ichinose has personally gone out of her way for you all. And this is how you repay us?!”

“Lying to and exploiting the kindhearted Ichinose, almost getting her suspended—how can you be so ungrateful?!”

Class D was now seen as shameless and despicable.

The main culprits were Ayanokouji, Ike, and Yamauchi. The anger from Class B students had reached its peak.

Suddenly, a loud commotion erupted from outside the classroom.

It was a group of furious Class B students—both boys and girls—storming into Class D’s room, demanding an explanation. The Class D students looked at one another, at a loss for words. They knew they were in the wrong, so they had no confidence to argue back. Instead, they felt ashamed and humiliated.

Because of this incident, they were now subject to criticism and ridicule wherever they went. Whispers and pointed fingers followed them around campus.

“This was Ayanokouji and Yamauchi’s fault! Why should we have to suffer for their mistakes?!”

Shinohara was the first to express her dissatisfaction among the girls, and soon, several boys, including Yukimura, voiced similar frustrations.

“And then there’s Sudo’s mess. We lost half of our hard-earned class points last month because of him! Now Ayanokouji and Yamauchi’s suspension will definitely cost us the few remaining points we have left. Damn it, why do we have to be dragged down by troublemakers like them?!”

The resentment within Class D was boiling over. Not only were they angry at Sudo, but they were now openly hostile toward Ayanokouji, Yamauchi, and their group. In contrast, they had some sympathy for Horikita—she had tried to help their class points but ended up being dragged down by these “useless teammates.”

Fortunately, Hirata and Kushida rushed back in time to calm the situation.

Hirata and Kushida, both well-liked and respected among their peers, took the lead in apologizing to Class B. Their good reputation worked in their favor—none of the angry Class B students lashed out at them.

Shortly after, Ichinose also arrived. Thanks to her persuasion, the furious Class B students finally left, albeit reluctantly.

However, news of this incident spread rapidly among the first-year students. Since Ichinose was one of the most popular girls in school, her mistreatment fueled even more resentment toward Class D, particularly Ayanokouji and Yamauchi.

The only silver lining was that Ayanokouji and Yamauchi, who were currently suspended, weren’t personally confronted by Class B students.

The bad news?

The rest of Class D was suffering the consequences.

They had become social outcasts within the school, unable to walk with their heads held high. They frequently faced mockery and sarcasm from other students. Even though it was Ayanokouji and Yamauchi’s actions that caused this mess, everyone else had to endure the backlash. This only intensified the hostility toward them within Class D.

“Are you happy now?”

In the evening, Hikigaya sat in the school cafeteria with a tonkatsu set meal. He had chosen a quiet, out-of-the-way seat when Kushida suddenly joined him with a high-end eel rice bowl.

Hikigaya glanced around before locking eyes with Kushida, silently questioning whether it was okay for her to be seen eating with him.

Kushida rolled her eyes and scoffed, “Thanks to you, no one wants to sit with Class D students right now.”

Hikigaya caught the sarcasm in her tone but wasn’t bothered. After several encounters and negotiations with Kushida, he had come to understand her true nature—she was someone who wouldn’t bow to pressure and had a sharp tongue to match.

“This whole ordeal will blow over in a few days. Besides, this doesn’t really affect you or Hirata much.”

Hikigaya glanced at Kushida’s expensive eel rice bowl, then back at his own cheap tonkatsu meal, suddenly losing his appetite.

Kushida, noticing his envious gaze, felt an odd sense of satisfaction. Spending someone else’s money always felt great!

However, when she recalled yesterday’s events and how Hikigaya had orchestrated everything, a shiver of unease ran down her spine.

Piecing together the clues from the past few days, along with his instructions to her, she had managed to reconstruct his overall strategy. The more she understood, the more shocked—and terrified—she became.

In the entire surveillance setup scandal, Hikigaya had clearly been targeting Ayanokouji. Yet, aside from Ayanokouji himself, no one else seemed to notice. Everyone merely assumed Hikigaya had used Ayanokouji as a scapegoat to save Horikita.

Hikigaya had made Ayanokouji take the fall in broad daylight, and yet, no one questioned it. Instead, they believed it had been the only viable solution at the time.

Had Kushida not known certain details in advance, she might have been fooled as well!

It was evident from Hirata’s gratitude—he didn’t blame Hikigaya for sacrificing Ayanokouji. On the contrary, he was thankful that Hikigaya had “saved” them all. Even though the final outcome wasn’t ideal, it was still better than an expulsion.

Moreover, upon reflecting on Hirata’s speech and actions during yesterday’s meeting, Kushida realized something unsettling—it was as if he had been following a pre-arranged script with Hikigaya!

Their cooperation had been too seamless.

In other words, during that meeting, not only Kushida but also Hirata had been under Hikigaya’s influence.

And perhaps… there were even more of Hikigaya’s “insiders” lurking within the class.
