The Villain’s Perspective

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Time to go

After defeating the monster, Lucifer returned to his cave to take a break before continuing his hunt. Furthermore, Lucifer also received 10 Experiences from killing a Giant-level monster. Thanks to that, Lucifer also understood a little about how the Experience system worked.

When Lucifer killed a Beast-level monster, he would receive 1 Experience. But when he killed a Giant-level monster, Lucifer would receive 10 Experiences.

If what he speculated was correct, Lucifer would receive 100 Experiences from a Superb-level monster, 1000 Experiences from a Giga-level monster, 10000 Experiences from a Tyrant, …

If he wanted to level up his Destiny Rank, he should kill higher-level monsters to receive more Experiences. But that would be suicide since Lucifer couldn't even defeat a Giant-level monster easily.

'Maybe I should hunt the Beast-class monsters in this forest more often.'

While thinking, Lucifer's stomach started to protest with hunger. The chase just now had taken more of Lucifer's strength and stamina than he expected.

Lucifer sighed, he walked out of the cave and continued his hunting journey.

The next morning, Lucifer had finished throwing the sacks into the lake and chopping wood. Thanks to the meat that he had eaten these days, Lucifer's body now had more strength, and he had also become more familiar with the tasks that Levy had given him.

Right now, Lucifer was chilling in his room, training as usual. He was thinking about preparing to leave.

The only reason Lucifer was still here was because he owed Levy a favor for saving him. But perhaps it was time for Lucifer to continue his journey. After all, Lucifer had to cure the transformation curse as soon as possible.

Lucifer had thought about hiding in the back of the car while it was moving towards a city, a town, or at least a village. He could use Shadow Movement to sneak into the trunk without being detected by the old man.

But the essential thing now was when the old man would use his car. Lucifer had noticed that Levy often used the car to go somewhere on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. He usually left at 8pm and returned at 12am.

Luckily, today was Thursday. If things continued as usual, perhaps today would be the day Lucifer could escape.

***

That night, Lucifer was sitting quietly in his room, waiting for the right moment. Like always, Levy left his room at 8pm, then he headed towards the car behind the house.

Noticing that Levy had moved, Lucifer immediately jumped out of the window and used Shadow Movement immediately. He then hurriedly headed towards the trunk and lay still inside while Shadow Movement was still activated.

A moment later, the car door opened and Levy was gradually entering it. Because he was so fat, the car's seat belt wasn't long enough for him to use.

Levy muttered something and started the car.

***

A few minutes later, the car suddenly stopped. This made Lucifer feel very confused. A few minutes of moving like that was definitely not enough to go to a city or a town.

'Where am I?'

Levy got out of the car right after it stopped. Meanwhile, Lucifer was still lying still in the trunk without moving a single inch. He had canceled using Shadow Movement 2 minutes ago.

About 3 minutes later, Lucifer finally decided to leave the car when he recognized that Levy wouldn't be coming back for at least a few more hours.

Lucifer was surprised after seeing the scenery outside.

In front of him was a large lake, and on the opposite side of where the car was parked was the familiar wooden house. The location Lucifer was at was at least 1 to 2 kilometers away from the house.

'What's going on?'

Lucifer looked around in confusion. Suddenly, a dilapidated and roofless house caught his eye. It seemed that Levy had gone inside that house.

A part of Lucifer told him not to go inside, but the other part was urging him to hurry up and go inside out of curiosity. In the end, Lucifer chose to follow his curiosity and entered the house.

***

There was nothing special inside this house. It was very small, probably only enough for one person to live in. There was no interior or furniture. It didn't even have a proper floor.

'Where is Levy?'

Lucifer walked around the house looking for signs of Levy but the only thing he found was the corpse of a mouse. Suddenly, Lucifer stepped on something hard. That was not the feeling when he stepped on dirt. It was something different.

Lucifer looked down at his feet, there, he saw a trapdoor that was covered with leaves.

Lucifer quickly brushed the leaves away and opened the trapdoor. Behind the trapdoor was a staircase leading underground.

Should Lucifer go in or not? The answer was yes. Lucifer carefully walked down the stairs so as not to make any noise. He felt quite regretful that he couldn't use Shadow Movement. The deeper he went, the darker it got.

***

The stairs led Lucifer to a hallway with four rooms that were all locked.

Lucifer walked to the door on the left closest to him. He placed his hand on the doorknob. But just as Lucifer was about to open the door, he suddenly stopped.

'What if Levy is in here?'

Since there were four rooms, the chance that Lucifer would encounter Levy was 25%, which was pretty high, especially for someone who had extremely low luck like Lucifer. He couldn't risk himself like that.

Lucifer sighed and took his hand off the doorknob. Then, he went back to the ground to wait for Shadow Movement to cool down. The time he had to wait was 14 minutes.

***

After Shadow Movement could be used again, Lucifer immediately activated it and went back downstairs. He entered the previous room from the tiny gap below.

The room was pitch black so Lucifer could still use Shadow Movement. This place was empty, there was no furniture in it, and it didn't seem like Levy was in this room either.

Lucifer left the room disappointed. He had hoped that something useful would be behind that door, but it wasn't.

'Well but at least there are still three doors left.'

After regaining his composure, Lucifer went through the door on the opposite side. And Lucifer didn't regret his decision.
