The Villain’s Perspective

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Plan changes

Lucifer still couldn't believe his eyes after entering the second room in this basement. He wasn't shocked because there were monsters in the room, but because there were many shelves in the room. Each shelf was fully filled with glass bottles with liquids of different colors inside.

'Could it be?'

All the glass bottles were numbered. The lowest number was 1 and the highest was 70. There was no doubt that these were the poisons that Lucifer had been searching for all this time.

He didn't expect to find these things so close to the cabin he was staying in with Levy. It was so near that if Lucifer used Shadow Movement, it would only take him a few minutes to get from the wooden house to this place.

Lucifer gulped. He knew that he couldn't waste an opportunity like this. If he decided to run away now, he definitely wouldn't get a second chance like this in the future.

No fool would abandon a pot of gold that was right in front of him. And Lucifer was not a bastard, therefore, he couldn't just leave all the poisons here after seeing them and run away.

'I guess I'll stay here for a while.'

Lucifer decided to stay here until he could adapt to the highest level of poison here, which was level 70. It would probably take him a few months, a year or even more, but Lucifer didn't care about that. All he wanted was to cure his curse.

After carefully observing each vial of poison in here, Lucifer decided to go to another room. He would start trying to adapt to each type of poison starting tomorrow.

The third room that Lucifer entered looked exactly like a laboratory he usually saw in the movies, but this one was a bit rundown.

On the tables in the room were a lot of experimental tools and a bunch of protective gear. Lucifer even saw an oversized white robe for scientists hanging on the door.

'Is Levy a mad scientist?'

Lucifer was a little anxious when he witnessed this scene. He began to think that the corpses he had to throw into the lake everyday were Levy's result.

Lucifer suddenly remembered the people around his age that he had met in his dream. Could they also be Levy's victims? Lucifer felt a little dizzy as these horrible thoughts that just kept going on in his mind.

Finally, Lucifer left this room and headed to the last room, where Levy was. Since Levy was not in the 3 previous rooms, the old man must be in the last one.

Lucifer used Shadow Movement but couldn't. There was light inside the last room, probably from a lamp or something like that. Therefore, Lucifer's Shadow Movement would not be able to be used. Although he felt regretful, he had no choice but to return to the car and wait for Levy to finish.

A moment later, Levy emerged from that basement. Meanwhile, Lucifer had already returned to hide in the trunk of the car a few minutes ago. Levy entered the car without paying much attention, then he drove back to the wooden house.

***

When Lucifer opened his eyes, he found himself in a place completely covered in pure white. This phenomenon was exactly the same as when he first came to this house.

This time, Lucifer was no longer as frightened as the first time since he had already known that he didn't die. He glanced around the place to find the group of people he had met before.

Strangely, this time Lucifer only saw a bespectacled, black-haired, intellectual-looking young man. That person was sitting on a wooden chair and staring at Lucifer.

"Hello, I'm Ryan." The young man spoke first.

Lucifer gulped, then he also introduced himself to the young man:

"Hi, I'm Esper. Nice to meet you."

Ryan laughed, which made Lucifer feel a little confused.

"You're still using a fake name? There's no need to be wary of me or the others. We're all dead."

"How did you know I used a fake name? What do you mean by saying that you are dead? Were you killed by that old man in the wooden house?" Lucifer made a surprised expression.

Ryan didn't say anything, just nodded sadly.

"So my guess is correct?"

"But more importantly, I'm here to help you escape from that guy. If possible, I want you to avenge us."

Lucifer swallowed. He tried to listen attentively to every word Ryan was about to say.

"First rule, never disobey his orders, never ask his permission to leave here, and never let him find out that you discovered the basement. But you're doing a great job so far."

"What should I keep in mind next?"

"The second thing is that you have to be careful with his dogs. I don't know if you know it or not, but Levy is blind, so he has to rely on those dogs completely."

"Blind? But I think his eyes are fine, right?"

"That's one of his Abilities. Maybe it changes his face or some part of it. It's like an Ability used for disguise."

After listening to Ryan, Lucifer suddenly remembered that sometimes even though he was very close to Levy, the old man still didn't react or say anything. Only when he touched him or made a sound would he react.

"But how does he drive if he is blind?"

"An automatic car. Don't you know? Technology is so advanced these days." Ryan looked at Lucifer with a puzzled look.

'Oh right…'

Lucifer just scratched his head and smiled wryly. Suddenly, the entire space around him shook violently.

"What's wrong?" Lucifer said in a panic.

"You don't need to worry too much. This means you're about to wake up. Oh, and let me tell you, you'll meet a lot of people like me while you're still in this house, but not often."

"Oh, okay."

"Alright! Goodbye, Lucifer." Ryan smiled brightly.

'Did I tell him my right name? How did he know it?'

The next time Lucifer opened his eyes, he found himself in a familiar room. Bright sunlight was shining through the window. Birds were peacefully chirping on the trees. It was a beautiful day.
