Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Dark Demon’s Arithmetic Classroom
When Dark received this notification, he was utterly confused.
He read it over and over again, finally confirming that his name was indeed written on it!
“What on earth is Professor Lily up to?”
From the end of the duel class to the start of the arithmetic class, there was a 30-minute break.
Dark hurried to Professor Lily’s office to verify it.
The office door wasn’t locked, and it was very quiet inside.
Dark knocked lightly and pushed the door open a crack.
Suddenly, a strong stench of alcohol gushed out from the gap as if it had finally found an outlet, nearly suffocating anyone nearby!
“Guh.”
Dark covered his nose, mustered his courage, and risked his life by pushing the office door wide open!
On the desk usually used for placing books, homework, and pencil cases, lay a stinky little imp!
Professor Lily’s dragonfly wings were crumpled together, and the area around the desk was piled high with empty bottles.
It was unbelievable!
The vice-dean of the prestigious Magic Academy of St. Mary’s was almost dead drunk in her office!
Was this due to moral decay or the loss of humanity? Please tune in to Hedgehog Cat’s midnight show—The Villain Only Wants To Live a Buddhist Life!
“Dark?”
Professor Lily struggled to open her eyes and, seeing Dark, lifted her arm weakly: “I… I entrust this to you!”
Before she finished speaking, Lily Professor fell back asleep, snoring like a dead pig.
Dark: “…”
What exactly was going on?
He quickly closed the door to prevent revealing the vice-dean’s disheveled state.
The office didn’t look particularly messy, no signs of a fight or a secret room… well, something like that.
Dark confirmed that Lily Professor had just fallen asleep and carried her from the desk to the nearby sofa.
Fortunately, Lily Professor was only a delicate little imp; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to move her.
“Plop.”
Something slipped from Lily Professor’s other hand.
Dark bent down and picked it up—it was a beautiful flower card adorned with blue flowers.
“Blue Bride?”
A pure love and a steadfast kindness, the Blue Bride, kept its promises.
Reaching out, he touched the card, and the flowers on it moved aside, revealing a human boy with a round face and a sweet smile, looking like an angel.
“Who is this?”
Dark frowned but felt it inappropriate to pry, so he returned the “love fortune card” to Lily Professor’s hand.
Then he took off his coat and covered her with it.
Turning around, he left the office, ready to start the class!
…
Just a substitute class.
The first-year arithmetic class was ridiculously simple.
Even though Dark hadn’t prepared, there was no need anyway.
The biggest challenge was facing students from four different academies.
Because Professors Jones and Lily had swapped classes, both morning sessions were combined for all four academies.
Noble Academy and Knight Academy were manageable.
But the students from the Magic Academy and Fool’s Academy were unfamiliar to him.
Fortunately, he only needed to teach one session.
“Try to get through it.”
“Today, let’s talk about exponential growth!”
…
The bell rang.
Dark entered the classroom just before it was too late.
Due to the large classroom, students from the four academies sat in four distinct rows.
When Dark walked in, there was an eerie silence.
Probably because no one expected a fellow student to be teaching them today.
Dark felt the gazes of his peers, but it didn’t bother him.
As the son of the kingdom’s only duchess and one of the two royal swords, wasn’t he always under such scrutiny?
Excessive praise, excessive flattery, and excessive indulgence ultimately shaped his tragic personality.
But it was never too late to mend.
Dark stepped onto the podium.
Instantly, he experienced Professor Kazel’s unique perspective.
“Is Professor Kazel usually this challenging?”
There were three professors under five feet tall in the academy.
But Professors Lily and Didi were little imps with wings, always floating in the air.
Only Professor Kazel was exceptionally difficult!
Dark was twelve years old, over five feet tall, and didn’t appear short among his peers.
But once he stood on the podium, something seemed lacking.
He looked down and saw a footstool hidden under the table!
…
Suddenly, Demon Teacher raised himself up and introduced himself: “Hello everyone, I’m Dark Demon. Those who don’t know me should be in the minority. Anyway, I’ll be substituting for today’s class. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”
A 90-minute class, Dark planned to spend a few minutes answering questions, then discuss last lesson’s homework for about ten minutes, and finally proceed with the lecture, covering some content not yet taught to first-years.
Perhaps because he smiled so charmingly, the classroom atmosphere eased considerably.
Emma Maltis from the Knight Academy raised her hand, and Dark nodded at her.
Emma immediately asked: “Where is Professor Lily? What caused her absence?”
This question clearly intrigued the students, causing a slight stir in the classroom.
Dark couldn’t help but smile: “Professor Lily stayed up late studying Laplace’s Demon and only fell asleep recently due to exhaustion.”
Emma was puzzled: “What is Laplace’s Demon?”
Dark replied: “A divinity beast.”
Emma sat down, still skeptical.
Another new student from the Magic Academy raised their hand.
Dark said: “Magic Academy student, what else do you want to know?”
That student was sharp-tongued: “Why can Demon student stand on the podium?”
If it were a month ago, you would already be dead.
Dark opened his mouth: “Because I graded your homework.”
The student’s expression faltered, and they awkwardly sat back down.
Still, many students raised their hands with questions.
Magic Academy students were mostly defiant, Knight Academy students were simply unhappy, Fool’s Academy students seemed indifferent, and Noble Academy students were proud and confident.
Dark glanced around and noticed several small actions.
Noble Academy students were mocking Knight Academy students.
Just as Dark was considering giving them a warning, he saw Robert raise his hand.
“Robert Broheim.”
Robert stood up and asked his most pressing question: “Will this class still count towards credits?”
