Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Wit and Robert Score Seventy-Five Points
Speaking of this…
In Dark’s aristocratic elite pre-education, there were actually equestrian and archery exercises.
As the son of a Valkyrie, he had also received sword training, though he later gave up halfway through.
Most of the freshmen in the Noble Academy were similar; even if they slacked off during training, their physical fitness could still maintain a certain level.
However, many students in the Mana Academy could spend whole days reading books without exercising, making their physical condition far inferior compared to those in the Noble Academy.
Let alone compared to the Knight Academy!
The Fool’s Academy was somewhere in between.
It was obvious who would fall behind and who wouldn’t finish the run.
Like Emma, a bookworm inexplicably assigned to the Knight Academy, her physical fitness was no match for Rose, who rarely left her room. She started gasping after running half a lap and turned pale by the end of one lap.
Rose was no different.
Wit was relatively better. A month’s worth of cafeteria food had provided him with plenty of nutrition, gradually restoring his health.
Though he looked like scattered bones after finishing the run, Wit managed to make it through!
After catching their breath with Robert’s support, both turned to look at Emma.
Wit’s emotions were unsettled.
Robert was purely enjoying the misfortune!
If not for the fear of losing credits, he might have already taunted and pushed them down further!
…
“Metis deducts 5 points, Florette deducts 5 points, Swati deducts 5 points…”
Professor Jones did not hesitate to penalize the freshmen who couldn’t complete the run!
“It seems that my suggestion last week for morning jogging hasn’t been followed by anyone.”
“You Mana Academy students, I’ve seen too many of you! Thinking that having a slightly better mind can give you an advantage in Mana Duels, yet you don’t realize that Mana Duels also require physical endurance.
Countless duelists have fainted on the competitors’ platform due to lack of stamina! Perhaps you want to become the headline news?”
Professor Jones showed his stern side for the first time, and Emma, Rose, and others became the unfortunate background.
“Five minutes for rest!”
…
Seeing Professor Jones’ gaze soften, Diana quickly slipped beside Rose and immediately picked her up in a princess carry, ignoring her struggles and placing her on a bench by the venue to rest.
Other students also had friends to some extent.
Finally, only little Emma was left, drenched in sweat and pale, sitting on the ground alone.
Wit felt a bit uneasy and said, “Robert, why don’t we help her?”
Robert only mocked, “Help her? Why should we? Wit, we’re not friends with her!”
Wit replied, “That’s true.”
This was a turning point.
…
Five minutes later.
Students regrouped.
They stood in four blocks representing the four houses.
Professor Jones finally began the day’s lesson: “We have covered most of the basic theories of dueling. Today’s class will mainly be a practical preview of Mana Duels.
First-year students generally do not qualify to join the Dueling Club or participate in the academy’s dueling competitions.
But we have our own competition format. It’s the Elite Mode created by the Mind Magus Red. Does anyone know what Elite Mode is?”
In the Knight Academy team, Robert immediately perked up and whispered, “Wit, here comes a chance to score points!”
Wit looked pale, “But I don’t know.”
Emma raised her hand shakily.
Dark had already moved past such low-level interests.
Professor Jones glanced over Emma’s face but chose a girl from the Mana Academy instead, “Swati, you come forward.”
“Okay, professor.”
The girl named Sarah Swati had healthy tan skin, a high nose bridge, and full lips.
She was eager to regain the deducted points and explained, “Elite Mode is a duel format centered around Mana Spirit Cards. Duelists are only allowed to use Mana Spirit Cards and some auxiliary Mana Cards, while most other Mana Cards are prohibited.
In each round, duelists can only summon one Mana Spirit. Depending on the rules set before the match, it can be 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 6v6.”
“Enough, add five points to Swati.”
Sarah wanted to elaborate further, but Professor Jones interrupted, “Elite Mode primarily tests the quality of Mana Spirit Cards. Even with just one Mana Spirit Card, a duel can still be conducted.
This is quite suitable for us first-year students. Now, anyone who has successfully created a Mana Spirit Card should step forward.”
So, people started stepping out from the line.
From the Noble Academy, there were Dark, Diana, and three others.
From the Knight Academy, there were Emma, Wit, and two others.
From the Mana Academy, there were Sarah and six others.
From the Fool’s Academy, there was only one person.
In total, seventeen people stepped forward, all top students among the first-years except for Diana and Wit.
“There are only seventeen?”
Professor Jones showed clear astonishment, “You are the worst batch I’ve ever taught!” The students had nothing to say.
Professor Jones continued, “Today’s main focus is sparring and demonstration. I’ll host a small in-class competition this Friday, with the champion winning 1000 credits!”
“1000 credits? How many interesting candies can you buy?” Someone drooled.
The young magi, who had just spent in Traveler’s Street and weren’t fully satisfied, excitedly discussed it.
Wit and Robert were also somewhat excited, “With these 1000 credits, any debt would be easy to pay off, right?”
Even Emma was tempted, “There seems to be a batch of very expensive ancient Mana Books arriving at that goblin-owned antique bookstore…”
Of course, there were those looking for shortcuts, “Horn Mana Shop sells semi-finished Mana Cards. Even beginners can easily complete them, priced at 998 credits!”
Dark remained indifferent, thinking that the credits were indeed insufficient…
Seeing that the 1000 credits reward had a strong impact on the students, Professor Jones couldn’t help but smile.
The next lesson mainly involved selecting students from the sixteen who successfully created “Magical Beasts” to demonstrate.
Wit actively participated for the credits and was successfully called out by Professor Jones, earning five points.
With two people each getting five points and the base course score, they accumulated thirty points!
Since they already had forty-five points yesterday, they now had a total of seventy-five points!
“Seventy-five points, Wit!”
Robert exclaimed, “If we get five more points in the arithmetic class, we can pay off our debts! Let that otter girl go to hell!”
Wit was also unusually excited, “Just five points, surely we won’t fail to get them?”
