The Tycoon Inheritance

Chapter 102: 101.

After the worship ceremony ended, a lavish breakfast was served.

The main talk was about the changes to the family and consortium. Chen Kai laid it out for the elders.

There will be no idle young descendants in the Li Clan. They must finish college no matter what major they settle on. They will be on their own after graduation with an annual allowance to help them get by while working; no elders are allowed to give them additional funds outside of gift money. He didn't want to breed toxic rich kids in the clan.

For example, the Xi family's grandson. How can you throw a tantrum at such a big age in someone else's territory?

Embarrassing.

".... To widen the talents in our family, we cannot restrain them. That's why I'm revoking the rule that all descendants must work under the banner. Our scope has been the major industries and has been successful for decades. What about the fashion industry, entertainment... I'm not talking about creating new companies, but allow them to go into that sector if they like."

One or two of the elders were visibly defiant but dared not speak out because the old master fully supported this.

Chen Kai glanced at the two who were against it and spoke, "Bear in mind, everyone starts at entry level if they choose to enter the consortium. It has been handed down to all personnel that no backdoor will be open for relatives, including ours. The world is not fair, why should they be handled with kid gloves?"

"Patriarch! They are your cousins, you should help!"

Chen Kai narrowed his eyes at the blustering, chubby old man. The annoyance was clear in his eyes as he spoke the next words, "I am not obligated to hold their hands every step in their life. They should show results from the education they receive at my expense. It's their responsibility to either grow up or stay behind their mother's skirts."

Old Master Li never gave this elder face when he was at the helm, and Chen Kai planned to do the same.

He's one of the elders who live on the family banner to have a high life, and the children under his name are all bear-kids. The oldest is currently playing the role of rich young master at a second-tier college.

Fuck that. They were about to work with the government; how can these black spots remain?

"What do you say, Elder Yu? This was taught by the ancestors, who are we to turn against their teachings? The family rules are to be acknowledged and followed. Do you understand, Elder Yu?" Chen Kai spoke unhurriedly. His tone was oppressive, and it shook the elder at the core.

"Yes, Patriarch. I will teach my family the rules." Heaven knows how many things he helped cover for his in-laws. The Li Clan believes in impartiality. If you screw up, you suffer the consequences.

The old master was too lazy to deal with them, but Chen Kai isn't.

"Very well. Let's continue, shall we?" Chen Kai said with a brilliant smile. One wouldn't think that this kid just silently threatened an elder.

Remaining Elders: Surely, it's another monster.

Old Master Li leaned back in his chair, pleased by what he had just witnessed. He knew this nephew he recently found was a good seed, but didn't expect him to be so good. The kid carried the domineering demeanour of the Li patriarchs and the gentle strength from his mother beautifully. His looks can make a stranger let down his guard in a quick second, which hides his ruthless mask perfectly.

'Looks like I can really go on that retirement plan the kid made for me.'

".... By the end of the week, everything should be sorted, right?" Chen Kai completed his plan for the family; all that's left is the execution. The branch families had been too lax lately, using the companies in their hands as their personal treasure trove. He had all the specific reports in hand but one must leave some doubt. He wanted to see what these old dandies would do.

Old Master Li didn't put them in his eyes or use a bit of strength to rein them in, but things are about to change.

In two hours, there will be a national broadcast. The Li Consortium's main product launch will happen right after. It will be clear that the two are working together.

It will be a hassle. Working with the military is one thing; getting involved with national affairs is another. The entire Consortium will be under scrutiny.

"From today, the Li family isn't just a centuries-old family of the past, it will be a family linked to the country itself. A hegemon. I don't need to spell it out for you."

Chen Kai's words were as heavy as Mount Tai. The world will be looking at them. The enemies are piling up. There will be no room for mistakes, and the person who has to keep them all in order and safe is this college graduate. Their fates are in his hands. Reports showed how cutthroat his means are - their international comrades were crushed under his thumb, and they were next. If they don't comply, they will be removed from future achievements and wealth. How can they mess up?

The elders thought about their wayward teens who were already showing streaks of being prodigal. Taking a deep breath, they prayed that they could put those brats in line. Chen Kai shifted his gaze to each elder. Those eyes that can be said to be beautiful as stars in the night sky are now compared to the cold gaze of a hellhound.

He smiled slowly, but not a glimmer of warmth was matched in his eyes. The elders feared his next words.

"Please guide your children accordingly."

Polite words.

Polite but threatening.

What more can be said?

Leaving the exclusive gated community, a monstrous convoy joined the line of cars on the main street. The dark-tinted luxury SUVs and cars startled the surrounding drivers. Instinctively, they made a good bit of distance either at the back or the sides. The ones who were in front saw the lineup and immediately gave way.

Knowing the cost of these cars was enough to scare them, but the license plate numbers are a different story.

Government officials.

Government officials are escorting a bigshot in the Midnight Blue Rolls-Royce. Who the heck is that? Many conjectures began, but the steady but loud revs of numerous motorcycles paused their musings. Outside their windows, six riders on Ducatis swerved in and out of the traffic, keeping an ample distance from the convoy.

What a big pomp!

It was clear that this was added security. Who the heck is this? Not even those tyrants move like this.

"Isn't this too eye-catching?" Chen Kai asked unhurriedly.

The National Security Agents who were assigned to this young patriarch heard this question. They wanted to answer frankly but gave the taught answer.

"This is the best way."

Chen Kai gave the agent a smile, saying, 'Is that the best you can do?'

"You're right. After all, many toes were stepped on."

Two hours ago, the governing power declared that the digital era had begun in the country. Thanks to the brain server the Li Consortium has been working on over the years, digitizing the system has come to fruition.

The country was 80% there, with the previous haul being the platform for e-invoice in the business sector that linked to the tax bureau.

Companies have become more honest in paying their taxes in the last three years.

Another step has been made, and the Li family is in the middle of it.

The server they created is AI-operated and adaptable to older servers of the country. Basically, National Security is now everywhere.

The AI part was Chen Kai's contribution.

The scientist in his family lab did most of the legwork, but it was his addition that brought everything together. Now that major things are digitized, doesn't that mean some products and services are going to be obsolete?

Chen Kai wasn't bothered as there are easy solutions to put in place, but there will always be nosy people.

The envoy reached the Tech Emporium under the consortium. It was also the same venue he listed for the luncheon and news conference. Many reporters were camped outside, eyeing any car that pulled up. Passers-by found out who was set to arrive and joined the melee. The crowd was comparable to the red carpet at an award ceremony.

The safety factor has risen. Anything can happen.

Chen Kai still had his indifferent expression on his face when he looked at the crowd outside.

"Let's see if your presence is a deterrent, gentlemen."
