The Tycoon Inheritance

Chapter 103: 102.

Cameras flashed vigorously when the envoy stopped.

Men in neat dark suits left the cars and surrounded the Rolls-Royce uniformly; their movements were simple, neat, and defensive. The few impatient media personnel who were eager to get a quick shot of the Li Family patriarch rushed forward, ignoring the security detail in front of them.

The team closest to the media group blocked their movements, causing dissatisfaction among these hot-blooded young reporters.

The pushing and shoving began; the cameras were pushed over their shoulders to get a few shots of the young CEO on top of their curses at the security team. The veterans behind them shook their heads at the bandit behavior of these newcomers.

"One will think this is a paparazzi hotspot. Don't they know CEOs like the Li Clan young master don't care about fame or the perfect image? Heh, look at that one cursing the bodyguard. If my guess is right, I think that's NSB people," a middle-aged vet commented as he scribbled a few notes in his little book.

"He carries the same aura as the ones around the officials. I heard this new kid's level reached double S."

"Hiss~" Those around the two old reporters sucked in a breath of cold air.

Don't underestimate these plain clothes wearing uncles who were idly standing by. They are currently at the top of media houses and have an enviable circle of contacts thanks to their years of journalism. The two who spoke of Chen Kai can be said to be the inner circle of the country's affairs. Meaning - they get first-hand news when big changes happen, and Chen Kai's unexpected appearance stirred up a storm that had to be carefully contained.

Business prodigy? That's a title for the outside world.

Tech genius. Mathematical scholar. Those two titles were seen and hidden by the higher-ups. Heaven knows if it is known that this young CEO is also the country's treasure, he will be on an assassination list.

"Old Master Li did a good thing to throw him outside before putting him at the helm. He subdued those hyenas in the West and placed his mark. The kid is as fierce as the old man and his grandfather."

"Well, the Li Clan isn't on one leg anymore."

"Hmmm. Let's see if he can survive those people inside."

When those words fell, these uncles tried their best to hide their grins. They were so damn lucky to get the first hand experience of seeing these so called roal families get face-slapped.

It was clear that the scheduled luncheon and the planned exhibition were Chen Kai's subtle way of telling these old heads and future heirs to behave themselves. After that nationwide broadcast and seeing the content of the exhibition, the meaning was clear.

The Li family doesn't need outsiders to be their crutch.

It was amusing to see the families who hold the Li Clan's thighs want to suppress the new kid to get him to look for them more.

"Oh. He's out. Hmm? He looks familiar," an old head commented as he took a quick candid shot of Chen Kai.

Another colleague muttered the same line when he saw the handsome young man.

When Chen Kai unknowingly looked at their position, they were caught in a dark gaze that was too familiar to a young lady years ago.

"It's her son. He's her son, isn't he?" the old man muttered. He can be said to be a lucky reporter who interviewed Li Muqing when she was strengthening the Li Clan's foundation. He couldn't forget those dark, unwavering eyes that seemed to pierce his soul.

Looking at Chen Kai once more, he can say the kid was of the same mold as his mother.

"How can the Old Master bring back a tramp to take over the consortium. To think she had a child, but who's the father?"

Silence followed that question. After a momentary gaffe, they began their little investigation; any news is good news to them, and they weren't afraid of backlash. There's always a way to sugar coat gossip, right?

"Over here!" "Chairman Li!" "Patriarch Li, one question!"

" Chairman Li, is it true that you're a placeholder the past chairman brought in?" "Chairman Li, tell us what made the government trust you so much?"

"Li, sources said to show your might as the patriarch, you attacked old business partners. Isn't this bullying?" "Why did you publicly display the termination of your past employees? What about their privacy?"

"Have you truly inherited the consortium without any training? Didn't you graduate a year ago?"

"Why is your last name Chen? Who is your father?" "Which Li member is your direct relative?"

The questions kept coming, and they began to go down the path that gossip media takes. If a scandal isn't created on the rich, the public won't be entertained.

Chen Kai didn't plan to be passive with them. He never did back then and won't be now.

Turning a deaf ear to them, he entered the exhibition hall and made his way through the few 6-foot platforms, nodding in acknowledgment when he passed by.

Each platform was 6ft high and 14ft wide, and on display were the devices created alongside the large server to cater to numerous industries. To go full digital, compatible devices have to be made, and Li Consortium did that. Though he wasn't there for the initial process, Chen Kai's successful past and accumulated skills gave the research groups a lot of beneficial help, even advanced methods.

One can say that Chen Kai became a major player for this debut.

"The conference will start in ten minutes."

Tong Ming heard the low order and executed it flawlessly.

Before they left the exhibition hall, Tong Ming mentioned a few names in the crowd whom Chen Kai actively greeted. His bearing had no signs of being a newcomer to the shark-infested business world when he shook hands with those big shots.

The families who were waiting to see his jokes were slapped in the face once again.

When Chen Kai came to these patriarchs to politely greet them, he didn't play any Tai-Chi language with them, nor play any 'one-up' challenge with the heirs.

Polite and distant, that described his greetings to those who were intuitive, but it came off as arrogant to those who were narrow-minded, for example, the Xie family heir.

"Pompous for nothing. Just a by-blow."

Patriarch Xie didn't admonish his son but only warned him to behave himself. It can be seen that he, too, was dissatisfied with Chen Kai's greeting. He expected to receive flattering words from the young generation, so he could offer a few empty words of encouragement while showing some superiority. It turns out that Chen Kai diverted from the normal script.

Why isn't he currying their favor? They are his elders. He should be looking for advice and confirming their collaborations.

Xie Master coincidentally forgot their behaviour towards Chen Kai and the embarrassing tantrum their dear little heir displayed in public.

Whatever they think should happen or what they should get wasn't in any of Chen Kai's worries. He was only focused on making it through the conference alive.

The Li Consortium has made a big move, and it would be a lie to say that no one will try to make the Li Clan lose a piece of flesh.

Ten minutes passed.

Chen Kai stood at the podium, giving his introductory speech with camera lights flashing intermittently in the large conference hall.

Every word he spoke, every move he made, was captured by these reporters; there were so many things to understand, and there were a lot of things for them to ask.

As he spoke, his eyes lacked the reflection of the warm smile on his face; though the audience was attentive, he wasn't blind to the little movements on the outskirts. Tong Ming's fierce whispering revealed more.

He sighed in his heart at the inability to avoid these son of heaven attacks. It would have been cool to have a normal life trajectory.

System: Take it up with my boss.

Finishing up the speech and introduction of the devices, he moved to the designated chair and table to start the interview segment.

"Any unrelated questions will be ignored. This segment lasts for 30 minutes. Please choose your questions wisely." Before the hot-blooded reporters threw their most controversial questions at Chen Kai, the host poured cold water on their heads in a few words.

With the host selecting the media houses approved by his bosses, the interview went by smoothly. Those who wanted to stir the pot had faces that became darker by the minute, especially the two heirs who had snuck in some reporters to embarrass Chen Kai.

Chen Kai saw through their pettiness and created a few roadblocks for them.

All that's left is to go through that luncheon.

Shanghai.

Chen Huai leaned back in his chair and let out an amused chuckle with his eyes still on the screen ahead of him. His son gave him the heads up of a major move and hinted at a few companies to annex in the coming two weeks, but he didn't expect it to be so grandiose.

His kid gave him first pick of this new digital era. With businesses moving in this direction, the workload on employees will become lighter, and the need for them won't be so apparent. It would be best to come up with new compatible projects or train them in this direction for troubleshooting. Chen Kai pointed this out to him and also had his subsidiaries make first contact.

"This kid is so meticulous." Chen Huai commented.

His secretary nodded her head in agreement. She was still dazed by the fact that the young master was from the Li Clan. She took over the job of her mentor, who was now one of her bosses, so she was informed about all major happenings. She knew that Boss Chen had an older son, but his origins weren't explained. From the look of this first child, she was even more dazed. How can someone be so gorgeous? When a man has such jade-like beauty, he can be said to be gorgeous. No wonder they call him 'Prince Li'. He was better than most of the top celebrities.

Who is his mother? Boss Chen has his handsome side, but not as exaggerated as his son's. Hmm.

"Execute the first phase. We will move according to how everything flows. According to the first child, the older heads will drag their feet to this change, but the newcomers will grab what they can."

The secretary came out of her daze and immediately moved to work mode.

"Should we inform CEO Chen about these changes?"

"No. He won fairly, and this will be his chance to show that we didn't choose wrong." Even though he spearheaded the previous decision to let outsiders compete for the CEO, he still had little expectation that one of the Chen members would take over.

Who would have thought that an eldest son from the branch family would win the spot?

Chen Huai was a bit optimistic for the kid, "Let's see how he will fare against this change and those executives."

While Chen Huai stabilizes his company's expansion, a middle-aged woman dressed in a professional woman's suit sat beside a teenager who was busy reading a textbook. The remote in her hand trembled, and countless thoughts were dancing in her mind as she tried to accept the day's revelation.

Stiffly, she turned to the kid beside her. From day one, she knew the kid had a rich big brother, but not this rich.

She can disappear in a second if he's ill-treated in any way.

Wait. Does her boss know? In front of the Li Patriarch, he's a simple merchant with a few million. The Li Clan has a major entertainment company under their wings. Will they ask the little master to come over?

They do have more resources for the kid. Should I give the boss a heads up?

"Sister Lin, don't think too much. My brother isn't the aggressive type... all the time. He won't pull me over to Beijing."

Chen Yan, who spoke those few words, lowered his head to hide the smile on his face. He was quietly watching his manager go through her quiet monologue that was clearly visible on her face.

It was too entertaining.

"What? I wasn't thinking about such things. Patriarch Li is very magnanimous." Manager Lin began saying her rainbw farts without realizing it.

Chen Yan raised his eyebrows at this. Why does this look familiar?

"Yes. He is quite generous."

Manager Lin realized her abnormality after Chen Yan's little mockery and quickly returned to her professional demeanor.

Ah. It's like the opera.

"You don't need to act differently when you see Big Brother tomorrow. He's still Young Master Chen when he steps out of Beijing. Hmmm, well, on the surface." Chen Yan wanted to change his words when he thought of his brother's umpteen titles, but stopped in time. Manager Lin won't understand.

"He's really coming to Shanghai? I thought he would stay longer in Beijing after all, something big was announced countrywide." Even though she's entangled in the entertainment industry, she can see how many changes will occur.

"He won't stay in one place and be a sitting duck. Coming to Shanghai is like visiting relatives. There will be so much excitement."

Thinking of Chen Kai's plan, he was eager to get front row seats.

Big Brother is going to make that old man vomit blood.

Won't go back on this route.
