Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Nidavellir, The Forge of Artifacts
"Midgard is truly unique. From what I know, it holds several artifacts, including the Time Stone under Agamotto's care—a true treasure! Moreover, Midgard has an artifact that rivals the Infinity Stones, though its location remains a mystery. Additionally, there's a member of the Celestial Group right at Midgard's core," Della mused, marveling at Earth's distinctiveness.
Infinity Stones, coveted throughout the universe, had two residing on Earth! In future epochs, aside from the Soul Stone and Power Stone, others would also find their way to Earth.
Currently, only Odin knew the Reality Stone's whereabouts.
Earth also harbored an artifact—the Ten Rings! A mysterious weapon that eluded even the Sanctum Sanctorum's detection, its power rivaled the Infinity Stones, granting its mortal wielder millennia of life.
"Are we here to find these artifacts, Your Highness?" Thanatos inquired, intrigued by these destructive relics.
"Not now. They are powerful but not suitable for us at the moment. Possessing such artifacts would draw unwanted attention from the universe, hindering our growth," Della replied, uninterested in the Infinity Stones for now.
While the Ten Rings held great power, they carried hidden dangers. Rumored to be a beacon, who knew what they might attract?
"Let's head to Nidavellir! I need a weapon," Della decided.
Since witnessing Gungnir's might, Della had been captivated by the idea of crafting his own weapon. His dealings with Agamotto were one step, and forging a personal weapon was another.
Before leaving, Della gathered rare metals and branches from the World Tree.
"Heimdall! Transport us to Nidavellir!" Della called out, and a rainbow enveloped the trio.
"Is this Nidavellir? Truly magnificent!" Della remarked, awed by the forge's grandeur. A place harnessing a planet's core for weapon crafting was indeed impressive.
The burning star ring shone brilliantly, a stark contrast to the future Nidavellir extinguished by Thanos. For now, Nidavellir glowed under the star ring and sun's light.
"Your Highness Della! You've left Asgard!" King Eitri exclaimed, surprised by Della's arrival.
Asgard's eldest prince had never ventured beyond its borders. If not for the recent battle against the Celestials, King Eitri might have forgotten about him.
"The recent battle with the Celestials showed me my shortcomings, so I've come to forge a weapon," Della explained, looking up at the towering "dwarf," puzzled by the clan's self-appointed title.
"Of course! What kind of weapon do you wish to create, Your Highness?" King Eitri asked, eager to assist.
"A sword, a holy sword!" Della envisioned his weapon. Beyond Hela's Night Sky Blade, Asgard possessed a holy sword, the Twilight Sword, wielded by Surtur to destroy Asgard in later ages.
However, its attributes didn't align with Della's, so he sought something different.
"No problem!" King Eitri agreed, instructing his team to activate the star ring, beginning the metal's melting process.
Familiar with crafting the Night Sky Blade and Twilight Sword, King Eitri was well-versed in sword creation!
Della handed over his collected materials to the dwarf king. Examining them, Eitri was impressed.
These rare materials were coveted across the universe, sought by many to forge indomitable artifacts.
Yet, Eitri wasn't surprised by Della's resources. Known for his power, Della commanded one of Asgard's finest armies, the Saints.
The star ring extracted energy from the sun, converting it into heat to melt Uru metal in the furnace.
Uru, the universe's most energy-compatible metal, was the top choice for elite warriors crafting weapons. Della's materials were integrated into the furnace.
As the universe's premier forge master, King Eitri understood metal properties and combinations, a necessary skill for crafting powerful artifacts.
Artifact creation was far from simple. When Thor later crafted Stormbreaker, much relied on luck.
Given today's circumstances, Thor might have faced insurmountable challenges.
A suitable artifact required integration with one's divine power, blood, and divine marks, ensuring 100% compatibility. This process was time-consuming.
When Thor forged Stormbreaker, Nidavellir was semi-automated—prepare the materials, activate the star ring, and wait for completion.
But now, Della had to perform all steps himself.
Eagerly, Della anticipated his artifact's power.
Since witnessing Gungnir, he had yearned for his artifact. Finally at Nidavellir, his excitement was palpable.
Time passed, and Della's sword began taking shape, infused with his divine power, microcosm, blood, and unique star god pattern.
Della sensed the unformed sword resonating with him.
With each passing moment, their connection deepened.
King Eitri watched expectantly. An artifact not yet forged emitted such energy—perhaps it would surpass all previous sword-shaped artifacts.
"Om!" A powerful divine aura radiated, its intensity palpable!
Feeling the energy, even King Eitri sensed a tingling in his skin. Undoubtedly, this would be an extraordinarily powerful artifact.
