Chapter 70: Bullet of Non-Killing
Kael nodded, even though he was still new in Whitesky and didn't know the things that the Society of Knowers did.
He was still really curious and wanted to know more—even about things that were dangerous to know about.
Like the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat.
He looked at the Peeking Mirror and decided to come to the Realm Between at a later date, alone, to look at the mirror by himself.
With the Society of Knowers present, he couldn't do that, as there were things that he didn't want them to know about.
'I am sure that everyone here also has things they'd like to keep private and come to the Realm Between in their lonesome to check the mirror.
'This mirror can be considered a weapon. I am not sure if it is Cursed Artifact, but it really is a dangerous one.'
Kael thought to himself.
"The mirror is yours, my lord. If there is something you want to see, just touch the mirror and think about the city or place you want to go to."
Melia said with a smile from behind the doll mask.
Kael rubbed his chin, and there were few things he wanted to check out, but he didn't want the Society of Knowers to know where he was from.
It was already obvious that Morgana was from Kornacis, and she didn't seem to mind them knowing where she was from.
However, Kael had good reasons to keep it secret for multiple reasons—the most pressing matter was his identity as Lord of the Realm Between.
He didn't know whether he was the real one—he doubted it—and in case the real Lord of the Realm Between came, then it would be easy for them to find him if he told where he was from.
Thus, he completely scratched the idea of checking out the stuff in the Dark Jewel's Corner and the thing with Miss Angelica.
He did want to check her out, as there was something really suspicious about her, but when Kael returned back to the school, Jeff seemed back to normal.
They talked about Miss Angelica's disappearance during the dinner, and no one had a single idea where she went.
Not even Arthur.
Jeff seemed quite heartbroken about her sudden disappearance, and Kael kept it secret that he happened to see her in the steam locomotive.
"I can't really think of anything right at this moment."
Kael said and leaned back on the backrest of the high-end stone throne.
"Alright! Is there anything others want to see?"
Melia asked while looking around the mirror table, and Rune and Eron checked some things in the mirror.
When they were done with it, Kael pulled out the hidden compartment under the stone table, and looked at the memory crystals.
"Ah~"
Melia saw what he was doing and asked with a bright smile.
"You're planning to use them, my lord?"
Others also looked with great interest, and since they were quite disappointed about the memory crystals, they greatly hoped that these last crystals were much better.
These were the crystals they happened to find from this ruined town, so the Lord of the Realm Between must've visited this place.
It was surprising since the Lord of the Realm Between must've traversed across the fog of the Shattered Peninsula to get even there.
Since it was such a dangerous place to get to, they imagined those memory crystals would hold immensely valuable knowledge.
Yet, the first crystal was immensely disappointing.
Kael picked up one of the memory crystals, pressed it against his forehead, and a flood of memories entered his mind.
It caused his head to scream in agony, but he just gritted his teeth and swallowed the moans of pain.
He had indeed started to get used to the pain, or he was just better at pretending that he was fine.
"Ah…"
Kael's eyes opened fine with the new knowledge in his mind, and everyone leaned close to find out about what that memory crystal consisted of.
"Lord of the Realm Between was part of Outlaw Pathway, just like me… This memory crystal talked about the crafting of new bullets."
Kael said, which was exactly what he had been trying to learn for the past month, and now he knew.
With his eyes closed, he pulled out a single Iris coin from his pocket, placed it on top of the mirror, and touched it.
"Imagine how it looks…"
Inside his mind, he imagined a bullet that the Lord of the Realm Between had crafted before, and now he had a memory of him crafting that specific bullet.
"How it feels to touch…"
He imagined its touch as the Lord of the Realm Between had held that bullet in his hand, so he perfectly knew how it would feel.
"How it feels to fire it from the revolver…"
In his mind, the sound of a revolver gunshot sounded—shooting the bullet didn't give much recoil—it was pretty much like a slight tap on the hand.
And lastly, he sacrificed some of his divinity to craft the bullet, which was the missing link that he had been missing all this time.
It was the reason why he failed to create the rubber bullets, as he didn't know anything about divinity sacrifice!
It was possible to create without a divinity sacrifice, like Willow had done, but it would be much harder and need greater imagination.
With divinity sacrifice, in exchange for giving away some of his total divinity, he could create the bullet.
At that moment, the Iris coin on top of the table turned into a black bullet. It was no ordinary bullet.
"Ahh…"
As Kael opened his eyes, the Society of Knowers leaned close with gaped mouths, as this bullet was one of the Lord of the Realm Between's creations.
"Bullet of Non-Killing."
Kael picked up the bullet, looked at it, and smiled.
"This bullet, when hit, does not kill the person. It knocks them unconscious for a short time, and they seem dead until they wake up.
"Their pulse will be so low that it will be almost undetectable, and at the moment of contact between bullet and human body, it splatters some fake blood to make it seem like it's a kill shot.
"This is just one of many bullets that the Lord of the Realm Between created. I am not sure if he even happened to ever use this one…"
Kael said with a deep sigh and pocketed the bullet.
With the ordinary bullet and now with the Bullet of Non-Killing, there were two bullets he could craft, and that increased his options!
