The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 35: Pathway of Introverts

"Go away!"

Ivy pushed the two young men out of her room and then slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

"Hehe~"

Finn scratched the back of his head and then said.

"I think everyone else is currently out on the town, so I'll show you the rest of the places that you should know."

With a nod, Kael followed after him as he took him to see the dining hall, the kitchen, the study room, the courtyard, and the library.

"And that's the forest."

Finn stopped by a square-shaped window and looked towards the forest that stood at the backyard of the school.

"What about that place?"

Kael pointed at a small shack that was locked with a chain.

"A storage shack, but no one has used it probably like ever, and I doubt even the headmaster knows what's inside."

Finn said with a shrug, ended the tour with Kael, and they went in different directions.

After returning back to his room, Kael rubbed his chin and walked back and forth.

'The ritual… Could it really work? Why would it work only in here? Is the Realm Between a place in this world and not on Earth?

'That might be the only explanation. I must try it. I'd like to also ask that girl about it, but for now, I'll have to retrieve the items for the ceremony.' For a better reading experience, visit M(VLEMPYR).

Kael looked at the desk—there was a chair slid under it—and he had an Iris coin inside his bag, so all he needed was his own hair strand and half-eaten bread.

'Easy enough. I suppose I'll be taking a visit to the kitchen!'

The carriage came to a rolling stop in front of a bakery, and Thomas nervously fidgeted with the top hat in his hand.

With a smile, Arthur rubbed the eagle-headed top of his walking cane, looked at the side of his old friend's face, and said.

"You know, if you never make your move, she'll be taken by someone else. A pretty girl like her has many suitors."

"I don't even know whether she remembers me. I wouldn't if I were her. I am just one of the thousand customers that she has."

Thomas said with a sigh.

"Why don't you go in and see?"

Arthur asked.

"Mmh…"

Thomas put the top hat back on, stepped out of the carriage, and with a trembling heart, he entered the bakery.

A waft of freshly baked goodies tickled his nose, and currently, a sweet-looking woman was putting a tray of warm croissants on the counter.

She looked kind and gentle, had a flowery apron tied around her waist, and had a warm smile on her face.

"Thomas? Is that you?"

When she saw him, her eyes brightened like a sweet flower in bloom, and she smiled wholeheartedly.

"Good morning, Lady Vivian."

He said with a smile, took off the top hat, and bowed with the hat pressed against his chest.

With a giggle, Lady Vivian took some baked pastries out of the oven, put them inside a small wicker basket, and handed them to the gentleman.

"Your favorite, right? Enjoy!"

She said with a smile.

"Haha, you remembered…"

Thomas smiled, took the basket from her soft-looking hand, and felt his words get stuck in his throat.

He wanted to ask her out on a date but couldn't muster the courage for it, so he simply said farewell to her and walked out of the bakery.

While still smiling, Lady Vivian waved goodbye and watched him go—but she also looked slightly disappointed—and then returned back to baking.

Thomas jumped inside the carriage, sat back down, and sighed heavily as if he'd been holding his breath in.

"Fuck…"

He whispered.

"Haha, I was looking through the window, and it looked like it was going well. Was I mistaken?"

Arthur asked with a laugh.

"I am of Stealth Pathway for a reason. It's because I am an introvert, and I am not comfortable with speaking!"

Thomas said with frustration.

"And I thought you being a recruiter would fix that. But it'll be alright; as far as I know, she is still single, and you should really just ask her out.

"You're planning to stay in Dark Jewel's Corner for a while, yes? I know you're wanting to take good care of this Kael kid, after your recent recruit died…"

Arthur said.

"I'll be here a while… Maybe I can find the courage I am looking for, but today is not that day. Shall we go back to your school?"

"Sure thing."

Arthur waved his hand, and the rusty-jointed robot yanked on the reins.

"Can I get one?"

He reached his hand towards the basket, but Thomas smacked his hand away and protected it behind him.

"Nope, all mine. She gave these to me, and not for you!"

"I am giving you a place to sleep in; the nerve on you!"

Arthur exclaimed, but then Thomas looked like he felt bad and gave him one pastry—just one, and the smallest one.

With rolled eyes, he took it and stuffed it inside his mouth.

It was hard to see because of the smoke-filled sky, but the sky was turning dark over in the Dark Jewel's Corner.

Currently, in the School of Divinity and Mysticism, Kael put the four pieces of the ritual in the four corners of the room.

Iris Coin, Hair Strand, Upside-Down Chair, and Half-Eaten Bread!

At that moment, the dinner bell went on and reverberated throughout the school mansion.

'It's dinner? If I miss it, they would come looking for me and would see this strange scene, and if the ritual miraculously works, they would see that I am missing!'

Kael sighed, realized that he had no choice but to delay the ritual, and headed out of his room to go downstairs for the dinner.

When he arrived at the dining hall, he saw the students taking their seats at the long dinner table—there weren't many students—and thus, the headmaster was also seated at the end of the table with Thomas beside him.

Kael sat on the furthest end and saw the eyes of students looking at him curiously—they whispered among themselves—and noticed the scary similarity between him and Soul.
