The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 33: School of Divinity and Mysticism

Standing under a tall mountain that had a dark jewel encrusted into its peak, a town lived under its shadow.

Cobblestone streets, soot-stained buildings, and chimneys that never stopped smoking filled the town.

With grime and a constant smell of sulfur in the air, it was clear that this town had fallen on hard times.

A railroad cut through the town, headed up the surrounding hills, and entered the mines that powered the local economy.

At that moment, with a smoke-stained sky overhead, the sound of the train came echoing through the valley.

It went through the town, past the brick buildings, pitch-black with soot, and continued on its way towards the mines.

In the intersection, a horse-built carriage watched for the train to pass, and once it did, it rolled over the railroad and went up the hill towards a building that seemed like a mansion.

It was surrounded with a black iron fence, had a nice-sized forest behind, and the mansion itself looked nice, painted in a light brown color with white trim, and had windows on each side of the building.

It was a big building that stood out among the others in the area, and next to the front door rested a pair of stone gargoyles.

[School of Divinity and Mysticism]

A sign hung above the entrance—it was made of hand-carved wood with elegant, gold-leaf lettering.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The carriage rolled to the stop in front of the entrance's front steps, and Thomas took out his top hat before wiping the sweat off his forehead.

"We've arrived at your new home!"

After opening the carriage door, Kael stepped out, but when his boots landed on the ground, he noticed that he had accidentally stepped on some dog poop.

"Ugh…"

Kael grimaced, wiped the boot against the edge of the stone steps, and then took out his handkerchief to clean it off.

"I didn't expect a place like this. This does not look like an ordinary school."

Kael said as he looked at the stone gargoyles and the beautiful mansion that looked like it belonged to some sort of royalty.

"You expected a blank white building, classrooms, and lockers in the hallway? This is Whitesky, and entering a school here is a privilege.

"Especially a school such as this. Gotta admit, you are lucky that I am your recruiter, as there aren't many recruiters with good enough connections to get their recruit to enter a place like this!"

Thomas said smugly.

"Did my brother get in here as well?"

Kael asked.

"…He did for eight months. This is the place where he met Arina and Jasper." ReadersupportatM*VLEM*PYRmadethistranslationpossible.

Thomas said.

"Mmh…"

Kael nodded thoughtfully, and at that moment, the front door of the mansion opened up—loud laughter came from inside.

"Hohohoho!"

With a cane in hand, a man stepped down the stairs, a limp in his step, and Thomas smiled at the sight of him and said.

"It's good to see you, old friend. Kael, this is the headmaster of the School of Divinity and Mysticism, Arthur Nameless."

Thomas said with a smile.

"Ohoh, is this the new recruit of yours that you talked highly about? Oh man, you really look just like him…"

Arthur nudged his round-shaped glasses up his nose bridge and looked at Kael to investigate him thoroughly with his gaze.

"This young man here is Kael Mizuchi, the twin brother of Soul."

Arthur rubbed his beard, nodded, and tapped his walking cane on the stone ground twice—through the front door, two rusty-jointed robots walked out—they looked very futuristic.

'Robots?'

Kael thought in shock.

"They can take your bags and show you to your room."

Arthur said with a smile.

The robot reached out to the bag that Kael was holding, but he dodged the robotic arm and stepped back.

The crimson book shook inside the bag, and Kael wryly smiled.

"I can carry it myself. I don't mind them showing my room, though."

"Very well. I'll be taking a visit to the town with Thomas, so get settled, and one of the students will show you around."

Arthur said and sat inside the carriage—Thomas sat next to him—and one of the robots sat in the driver's seat, took the reins, and steered the horses down the path towards the town.

The other robot stumbled inside the mansion, and Kael followed behind it—it went up the stairway, arrived on the second floor, and took him to the room at the end of the hallway.

It was a small room with a single bed and a small window overlooking the garden—it also had a wall closet on one side, a rug on the floor, and a small desk by the window.

"This… is… your… room."

The robot said, and with creaking joints, turned around and walked away while barely staying straight.

'Those must be the creations of someone's Summoner ability. Since they're listening to Arthur's commands, they must be his. Interesting, indeed.'

Kael got settled in his room, but since he didn't have much with him, the closet was completely empty, and everything he had was pretty much inside the bag.

He stuffed the bag inside the closet, closed the door, and sat on the bed, but it felt hard like a rock.

"Ahh…"

Kael rubbed his back and his buttocks because they had pretty much turned numb during the carriage drive.

It was a long, bumpy, and uncomfortable journey—it didn't help that it was a cheap carriage—thus the seats inside were not cushioned very well.

Knock! Knock!

"You must be the new student! My name's Finn, and I'll show you around the school per the headmaster's request."

A hazel-eyed man, with hair that resembled the shade of chocolate, stood at the doorway.

"Oh… My name's Kael."

With a smile on his face, Finn shook his hand firmly, and with a very energetic glint in his eyes, he said.

"I am part of Alchemist Pathway, by the way. I heard that you're new in Whitesky? So, if you're more curious about alchemy, you can find me to talk more about it."

While it didn't sound like the most interesting pathway, when Finn talked about, he seemed really excited to talk about it.
