The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 32: Goodbye

With a cigarrete in hand, Thomas sat on the stone bench, right in front of the altar, watching as the masses of people went by.

'I should mostly be a recruiter for Stealth Pathway, but here I am, doing the bidding of the Outlaw Goddess.'

He thought with a wry smile.

At that moment, he saw a lanky-bodied young man step up the stairs, his face mostly hidden under the brim of the hat.

"And I thought you wouldn't enter Whitesky again."

Thomas said with a smile, dropped the cigarette on the ground, and stomped it out with his boot.

"Eh? Thomas?"

Kael called out in surprise, took out his hat, and walked over to him.

However, based on his expression, it was clear that Thomas wasn't that surprised to see him here. It was clear that he already knew.

"You were here waiting for me?"

He asked.

"Yeah, your Goddess told me to get you settled, as you're my recruit, after all. If you're planning to stay on Whitesky, that is, but it looks like you've made up your mind."

Thomas said with a smile.

"Yeah… I changed my mind."

Kael said with a sigh, looked at the hat in his hand, and put it back on, pushing it down over his eyes.

"I'll give this place a chance after all."

"I think you'll like it here. Lots of people seem to like it here. People that have come here always suffer some kind of tragedy, but yet, they still stay here.

"While this place has its dangers, most people still prefer this place over the Earth."

Thomas said.

"Mmh…"

Kael nodded.

Thomas then scratched the back of his head, stood up with a creaking back, and said.

"What are you going to do now?"

"I'll take a visit home quickly. I'll need to tell my family that I am leaving, and after that, I'll come here, and it will be a mystery after that."

Kael said.

"I'll have a place for you to stay. However, that requires you to leave Rask behind, if that's fine with you?"

Thomas asked.

"Well, I don't really care."

Kael responded, bid a temporary farewell to Thomas, and without even bothering to change his clothes back, he coughed the Whitesky coin out of his mouth.

Through the purple mist, Kael arrived back in his dark room—it had been left untouched—so none of his family members had come here.

'Lucky enough, I guess…'

He left the room, noticed that the house was completely dark, and peeked inside his little sister's room.

She was sleeping soundly under the blanket, looking like she was having a nightmare, as he heard her whispering in her sleep.

With soundless steps, Kael walked to her bed, sat on the edge, and gently stroked her soft brown hair.

"Don't go… Don't…"

She whispered about something.

With a heavy look, Kael moved the blanket to cover her fully, then left her room and peeked inside his parents's room.

They were sleeping, not so peacefully, as they seemed to struggle with something in their dreams.

"I am such a piece of shit… I guess that's why I was chosen as Outlaw." N#eed+ cha-r*ac&te-r+ sh!eet-s# and g!l@os$s-ari.e%s?^ Vis^i%t M%V%^L#EM^PYR.!

Kael shook his head, closed the door, and returned back to his room.

He went to his desk, took some pen and paper, and then wrote a quick letter—he put it on the pillow of his bed—and he moved to the center of the room.

With the Whitesky coin in hand, he closed his eyes and tossed it inside his mouth.

'Goodbye…'

The yellowish wheel of fire slowly rotated in the air, in the direction of the open window, and people swarmed inside a house.

With blood trickling down the floor, bullets scattering the floor like a trail of breadcrumbs, and in the midst of all that, Raheem's cold corpse lay motionless.

"Hmm~"

A trenchcoat-wearing man crouched before the corpse—he put his finger inside the gun wound—and then licked the blood off his finger.

The people watching grimaced—it made some of their stomachs churn.

"Gideon, what have you found?"

A person asked.

"Shh…"

Gideon Morcant put his finger to his lips and turned to face the crowd—he then felt his soul getting sucked out of his body and entered Raheem's corpse.

In front of the horrified looks of the bystanders, the corpse stood up, the bleeding wound still in his forehead, and began to speak in a voice that was not his own.

"No one move…"

Gideon's voice came from the mouth, and in his eyes, he saw a shadowy figure standing close to him, holding a long-barreled revolver, who pulled the trigger.

The bullet left the barrel and ended Gideon's life.

However, he then got sucked back to his body, and Gideon's body shook with fear of death that didn't quite belong to him.

"The bullet did not quite kill him instantly. This guy was alive for five seconds after the bullet hit him, but he couldn't move, out of fear.

"Intense fear.

"Unfortunately, the bullet went through his brain, so his memories were shattered enough for him not to remember the assailant's face.

"How unfortunate…"

Gideon said, stood up, and scratched his disheveled beard that looked like a bird's nest.

At that moment, he took off his necklace—it was a pendulum necklace—and he let it swing.

"Where is the person that killed this poor soul?"

The pendulum necklace kept swinging back and forth—but it never started pulling—and thus, he sighed.

He put the necklace back around his neck and said.

"The culprit is long gone—the radius of my tracking spell is limited to the City of Rask, so it looks like this person was smart enough to leave…

"Did you find any blood from the culprit? A fight happened here, and he might be injured. I can boost my tracking spell if I get hands on something of the culprit."

"No, we didn't find anything."

A person said.

'He must've cleaned whatever he could at the limited time he had.'

Gideon frowned, doubted that this was the culprit's first time killing, and thought they might be looking at a new serial killer on the loose.

"Outlaws… Outlaws… Outlaws are always so difficult to predict."

The wheels of the carriage spun on the dirt road, kicking up dust in their wake, and the horses neighed at the sight of the morning sun.

"…"

Kael sat inside the carriage, window open because of the heat, and just watched the landscape pass by.

"Where are we going again?"

He asked.

In the driver's seat, Thomas smiled and looked back at him.

"Dark Jewel's Corner!

"It's a small mining town in between Gehram and Kornacis—it has some massive dungeons with ore caves that span for miles underground—and it's the perfect place for you to learn.

"I've a friend over there, and he is a teacher over at the School of Divinity and Mysticism. I told him that you're coming there, and he has already assigned a room for you to stay at.

"You just cannot head into the danger blindly. Knowledge is power, and you must learn about other Pathways and about the world beyond the safety of these cities first!"
