Chapter 182: The Future [3]: The Fall Of.... Everything.
The wave was quickly approaching, turning anything in its path in nothingness.
Future Reid immediately knew that he couldn't allow the wave to touch him.
Space bent around him as he used [Void] to avoid the incoming [entropy wave], reappearing mid-air but as if honed on him, the wave started rising towards him.
"That wave is your undoing mortal," Chaos stated, "try as you might, there's no escape."
Reid didn't answer. Instead, he spun in midair and summoned the essence of [Gluttony Domain]. The ground below turned dark, hungry—anything the entropy had touched was now fighting back, trying it's hardest to absorb the wave.
"Gluttony is it?" Chaos cocked its head ever so slightly. "Interesting."
Reid landed hard on a floating remains of a destroyed building, activiating [Temporal Domain] over the battlefield soon after.
Now everything within the radius, including Chaos's massive form, was slowed. Not stopped. But enough to buy him a window.
"Borrowed tricks from your beasts. Admirable. But you have no chance against me."
Reid gritted his teeth and immediately started forming a gravity orb before him.
"You'll fall here today."
Shrinking down to Reid's size while maintaining itself starry feature less from, Chaos tilted its head. "You misunderstand. This fight only lasts as long as I desire."
It proceeded to raised a single finger—and in that instant, the entire world around them bent.
[Concept Severance]
The moment Chaos pointed, reality itself shook and the concept of momentum immediately vanished from Reid's right arm.
His attack—half-formed—died in his hand without even getting a chance to be released.
Reid's eyes widened. "The hell?"
"You fight with space, time, and gravity" Chaos said. "But I return those concepts to nothingness."
Still midair, Reid switched tactics instantly. He teleported again using [Void], vanishing from sight.
Activating another skill, multiple Reids from different timelines appeared around Chaos's shrunk form, each wielding a different concept.
Chaos just stood still as the three clones unleashed their attacks on it.
It was first frozen in time, before the space surrounding it started collapsing followed by a massive increase in gravity.
But instead of struggle, Chaos just floated mid-air as if none of the attacks affected it a single bit.
That confidence in the uselessness of the attacks was exactly what Reid needed.
Chaos spotted an orb of black energy approaching it, but just like the other attacks, it allowed the orb to touch its form....a decision which it soon learned was a big mistake.
Unlike the other attacks that had no effect, for some reason, this one immediately had an effect.
The orb, which turned out to be a [Gluttony orb], disappeared into Chaos's form but instead of disintegrating, this one started eating into Chaos and before it could do anything about the attack, a part of [Concept Severance] had been absorbed by the attack.
As soon as that happened, all the other attacks immediately took effect completely freezing Chaos in time before it could do anything else before space and gravity suddenly crushed it's smaller form into nothing.
The three clones then disappeared before the actual Reid himself reappeared.
His eyes narrowed at the spot Chaos previously was, he knew taking Chaos down would not be so easy.
And as if to prove his thoughts right, a massive tear appeared in space and out walked Chaos.
"Damnit," Reid cursed.
Even though he knew his attack would a amount to nothing, he still hoped it would.
After all, at this point his soul power was almost completely drained and he was completely exhausted.
"Impressive,"Chaos's voice rumbled through the space that cradled the half destroyed earth, "You made me shed a layer. You forced adaptation. Be proud Mortal."
Reid looked up at Chaos who had returned to its Titan form and just sighed. He could feel it, this monster was done holding back and Reid stood no chance.
Tilting his head backwards, he stared directly at his younger self from a different timeline and smiled.
Although it was just a weary one, it was enough to tell Reid that his future self could see him.
"Don't make the mistakes I did," Future Reid said with a smile.
Chaos, confused at the behavior of his opponent, just reasoned that he was just running mad from the lack of victory in sight.
Future Reid turned back to Chaos before saying, "remember when I said I'd take you down if it's the last thing I do?"
"The fire in you still burns?" Chaos asked in genuine curiosity, "don't you see, all your efforts are futile."
"Oh, this won't be."
With that, Reid suddenly started glowing. He glowed so bright that even the light from the sun would be completely absorbed.
Seeing its opponent preparing an attack, Chaos prepared one of his own, another entropy wave.
This one was so large that it would cover the entire planet.
Reid condensed all that energy into a single spear and with whatever remain energy he had, he hurled it towards Chaos and the incoming entropy wave.
"Another futi—" Chaos didn't get a chance to complete his words before the spear came into contact with the wave.
Instead of slowing down or an impact happening, the wave simply merged with the spear as it continued towards chaos.
The spear held every single essence in Reid's body, including his abilities.
"WHAT IS THIS?" There was finally panic in Chaos's voice as it sent wave after wave of entropy energy, only for them to be absorbed into the spear.
"What was it you said?" Reid said, "that's right, that spear is your undoing."
"IMPOSSIBLE," Chaos screamed in rage, "I AM THE EN—"
Before Chaos's words could be completed, the spear struck its form and immediately imploded.
The implosion seemed to destroy every single concept that held their universe, as time seemed to become irrelevant and the space broke down.
Chaos's screams were like music to future Reid's ears as it faded to nothingness.
The battlefield went silent.
The cost of defeating chaos became painfully evident. The only remaining planet was nothing but space debris now, everything was gone.
On one of those floating debris future Reid lay, barely alive. His form was fading, but he smiled.
He looked one last time at his younger self who was floating in space alongside red eyed Reid.
"You've still got time." He muttered.
And with that… he vanished, leaving behind only a single glowing red shard which was quickly absorbed in what looked like a rift.
Reid clenched his fist, blood running from his eyes, nose, ears and mouth, but that didn't bother him one but.
He had seen it all.
He knew now what was coming.
And what he needed to become in order to avoid this future.
