Chapter 29: A Narrow Escape
When the Blood Raven King saw that Liam Smith had dodged its attack, it was extremely enraged. It turned around and pounced again, with its sharp beak seemingly ready to pierce through Liam Smith's body.
Liam Smith thought it was bad. He grabbed the protruding stones on the cave wall with both hands, leaped up, and his right hand firmly grasped a small hole several zhang high.
The Blood Raven King's furious attack hit the cave wall without surprise. There was a slight dull sound, followed by the sound of some broken stones rolling down.
If this attack had landed on him, it would definitely have made a transparent hole in his body. Liam Smith didn't think his body was harder than the stones.
Seeing that Liam Smith had escaped again, the Blood Raven King was completely enraged. It let out a howl at Liam Smith, and the Blood Ravens in the cave seemed to understand something. Flapping their wings one by one, they rushed towards Liam Smith with the momentum of a black cloud pressing down.
Liam Smith was so scared that cold sweat broke out all over his body. His right hand loosened, and he landed lightly. Before he could recover, he felt a pain in his back, and a burning pain hit him.
It turned out that at some point, the Blood Raven that had been chasing him from behind had caught up here, and the one in the front even launched an attack on him.
He turned around, and with a slash of his hand, the dagger stabbed deeply into the abdomen of the Blood Raven, and a pungent smell of blood appeared again.
Liam Smith pulled out the dagger and jumped out along the cave wall.
There was another scene of the Blood Ravens devouring their companion. But this time, because there were many more Blood Ravens, almost in an instant, the body of the dead Blood Raven didn't even have any bones left.
With the Blood Raven King's roar again, dozens of Blood Ravens began to attack Liam Smith, the outsider.
Facing the Blood Ravens' swarm tactics, Liam Smith could only parry and had no power to fight back.
After one round, he got several more wounds on his body.
"Old guy, you lied to me again." Liam Smith was extremely disappointed in Alistair at that moment.
He had come for training because of Alistair's words. Not to mention the incident with the Frenzied Fire Ox, now Alistair had even encouraged him to enter the cave, causing him to be besieged by an entire Blood Raven family.
It really lived up to what Alistair had said: In this world, the only person you can trust is yourself.
However, Liam Smith still didn't believe that Alistair would really harm him. If he wanted to do something against him, it would just be a matter of moving his fingers, and there was no need to set up such a trap.
Alistair seemed not to have heard Liam Smith's words and muttered to himself, "Hehe, I didn't expect there to be a Blood Raven King in here. This time, we've really made a great gain."
Liam Smith slashed and killed the Blood Raven that had bitten his left arm, leaped back, and leaned against the stone wall, saying, "Old guy, it won't do you any good if I die. Then you'll probably have to stay in this cave for the rest of your life and be with these Blood Ravens day and night."
"Hehe, is that a warning?" Alistair said mockingly, "But your warning is of no use to your master. Since your master woke up, he no longer needs to parasitize in this ancient jade. Even if you unfortunately die here, it has no impact on your master at all."
"You're really something." Liam Smith said resentfully, "Others have masters, and I have a master too. Why did I meet such an evil master like you?"
"Little guy, you're wronging me. Actually, I'm very kind."
"Kind?" Liam Smith thought it was a bit ridiculous. Anyway, he didn't see any sign of kindness.
"Are you lying to yourself?"
"If you don't believe it, forget it. I originally wanted to give you some pointers, but since you hate me so much, forget it." Alistair pretended to be helpless.
As soon as he heard this, Liam Smith perked up. At the cost of being scratched by the Blood Ravens, he killed two more. Panting, he changed his tone and said flatteringly, "Master, I was wrong. You're magnanimous and don't bear grudges against me. Don't be like me."
"Give me a reason to save you."
"If I die, where will you find such a good pupil?" Liam Smith forced a smile.
Alistair pondered for a moment and said indifferently, "That's actually a reason. In that case, it doesn't make sense not to give you some pointers."
"Please hurry up, master. I can hardly hold on." Liam Smith said with an ugly expression.
Although Liam Smith didn't have any life-threatening injuries so far, he had already suffered more than a dozen or twenty wounds. Just the bleeding alone could make an ordinary person lose their ability to move. Coupled with the toxins of the Blood Ravens running wild in his body, Liam Smith didn't even have the opportunity to take the Detoxifying Elixir and could only hold on with his own body.
"There is a small hole three zhang above your upper left corner. The hole is just big enough to fit the inkstone, and there is only this one passage at the entrance of the hole..."
"I understand." Liam Smith understood immediately. He no longer paid attention to the Blood Ravens and headed towards the small hole according to Alistair's instructions.
The Blood Ravens naturally wouldn't let Liam Smith have his way. When they saw that he wanted to run, they immediately chased after him. Although Liam Smith was anxious to reach the small hole that Alistair had mentioned, he had to stop for a while and deal with the Blood Ravens behind him wholeheartedly.
There was another fierce battle. Countless sharp beaks and claws left wounds on Liam Smith's body. At the same time, the attacks of the Blood Ravens were too dense, and Liam Smith's defense was stretched thin. He couldn't find an opportunity to attack at the moment.
He circulated all the vital energy in his body, clenched his left hand into a fist, and a powerful fist force set off a small hurricane—"Mountain Break Fist".
This was the first time Liam Smith had fully unleashed the Mountain Break Fist. The fist wind howled, and the overbearing force poured out, directly colliding with a Blood Raven that was rushing towards him.
Then a clear sound of bones breaking was heard. The Blood Raven couldn't withstand Liam Smith's full-strength Mountain Break Fist at all. Its mouth, which had been open to bite Liam Smith, was even broken into two pieces. It fell to the ground and twitched a few times before completely losing its vitality.
The remaining fist force also repelled the Blood Ravens behind it.
Seizing the opportunity, Liam Smith didn't dare to be negligent and quickly turned around to leap up.
But the Blood Raven King went crazy. Its huge body leaped up and let out strange cries.
Liam Smith didn't have time to defend himself. He felt a huge force hit his back, and his body was inevitably sent flying. Seeing that his head was about to hit the rock wall, Liam Smith endured the violently shaking internal organs in his body, took a deep breath, and stretched out his hands to support himself. He firmly supported himself on the rock wall.
With this supporting force, Liam Smith managed to turn his body with great difficulty. His back slammed heavily against the rock wall, and he couldn't hold back any longer as a mouthful of blood spurted out.
Holding his chest, Liam Smith slowly stood up. Before he could fully recover, the Blood Raven King launched another attack. Liam Smith leaped up and just managed to jump over the huge body of the Blood Raven King. Taking the opportunity, he kicked hard on the back of the Blood Raven King with both feet.
His body leaped up again, and his right hand firmly grasped the entrance of the small hole that Alistair had mentioned. The remaining vital energy in his body gathered again. With his right hand exerting force, he pulled himself up and rushed into the hole sideways.
Without any pause, almost at the same time, Liam Smith took out the inkstone from his storage bag and blocked the entrance of the hole.
At this time, Liam Smith found that the entire small hole was probably only about six or seven chi deep, and the space gradually expanded from the outside to the inside. The entrance of the hole was the smallest.
But even so, there was still a gap between the inkstone and the entrance of the hole, neither too big nor too small. The Blood Ravens could squeeze in by shrinking their bodies.
"Master, is this the safe place you mentioned?" Liam Smith killed a Blood Raven that tried to rush in and threw it out of the hole before asking.
"Isn't it?" Alistair chuckled.
Liam Smith pointed at another Blood Raven that was trying to get in and frowned, saying, "The entrance of this hole is too big. The Blood Ravens can all get in. Where is the safety?"
Alistair let out a long sigh and said, "Alas, I really regret accepting such a stupid disciple like you."
Several black lines appeared on Liam Smith's forehead, and he said unhappily, "Where am I stupid?"
"Look, you still don't admit it." Alistair said with a wicked smile, "So what do you think now?"
"What do I think?" Liam Smith was a bit puzzled as to why Alistair suddenly asked this.
"Of course, I'm asking if you're in danger now." Alistair said lightly.
"Of course I'm in danger..." As soon as Liam Smith said this, he suddenly felt something was wrong.
After thinking for a moment, he realized that although there were indeed Blood Ravens coming in to attack him now, only one could come in at a time, and they couldn't fully stretch their bodies. He was completely like waiting for the rabbits by the tree stump inside. He could kill one when one came and two when two came.
It could even be said that it was effortless.
Seeing that Liam Smith had finally discovered this situation, Alistair said proudly, "Little guy, shouldn't you thank your master?"
"Tha... What the hell." Liam Smith had originally wanted to say thank you, but when he thought that Alistair hadn't told him earlier and had made him suffer so many injuries, he was still unhappy.
He said somewhat cheekily, "You're my master. It's your duty to save me and teach me. What's there to thank for?"
Hearing Liam Smith's somewhat unconvincing tone, Alistair laughed heartily and said angrily, "You little brat, you really hold grudges."
"I'm not holding grudges. I'm clear about rewards and punishments." Liam Smith looked righteous.
"Where is there any clarity about rewards and punishments? You're clearly biting the hand that feeds you."
"Even without you, I could have found a cave to be in an invincible position on my own."
"You're still stubborn. There are no fewer than hundreds of caves around here, and only this one is suitable. By the time you found it on your own, you would probably have turned into a pile of bones."
Liam Smith pursed his lips and didn't continue to refute.
Alistair also fell silent.
He had been chased by these guys for so long before and had been injured all over his body. Now he had finally turned the tables. Although it was a one-sided and boring slaughter, Liam Smith was very enthusiastic. He vented all his grievances on the Blood Ravens.
He had originally complained that the heavens were jealous of his talent and that he had been extremely unlucky.
Now, when Liam Smith thought about it carefully, it was actually these Blood Ravens outside that were really unlucky. Although killing them one by one at his current speed wasn't fast, he would eventually be able to kill all the Blood Ravens outside.
Thinking that he had wiped out an entire Blood Raven family, Liam Smith felt a bit reluctant.
But reluctance was one thing, and whether to kill or not was another.
After all, this was related to his own life and death. It was either the Blood Ravens' destruction or his own. Even though he was reluctant, Liam Smith had no other choice.
Liam Smith now understood even more deeply the truth of the law of the jungle.
In this world, only the strong could survive, and the weak would only be eliminated.
