The Rise of the Black Plain

Chapter 141: Impending Battle

The space around the three quickly vibrated as they arrived back at the mansion in Dry City, from where Minos had previously departed.

Upon noticing the different place that she was in, Emlyn immediately probed her surroundings while observing the place she was in for the first time. Minos had arrived at his private courtyard, where there was no one else.

The fox then asked with a doubtful tone, "Eh? I don't recognize this place. Where are we?"

Since the events of Yellow City, Emlyn had never left the Spatial Kingdom. Minos also did not want to expose her since she would undoubtedly end up drawing a lot of attention wherever she went.

On the other hand, Emlyn also didn't mind staying in one place for an extended period of time since that was what she wanted for herself.

Furthermore, Dry City was not that interesting to make a Nine-tailed Fox eager to get out. Anyway, she had never caught a glimpse of the young Stuart's territory for all the time she had spent here.

Dillian looked at her and replied with a smile on his face, "This is the young master's courtyard within his territory."

"Hmm, we can talk later, but now we have to hurry up. First, Emlyn, I want you to keep yourself concealed. And if a need arises, help us. If not, you don't have to take any action. And once we're done with this matter, I'll take you back to the Spatial Kingdom."

"As for Grandpa Dillian, you will be with me. Maybe some soldiers would need medical help," Minos said in a grave tone.

That was the first test of its kind for Dry City.

Today, this would be the first of many times they would have to defend this territory. It was inevitable that other situations like this would happen in the future.

So, they had to do exceptionally well today. After all, it could serve as an excellent military training for the soldiers of the Black Plain Army.

Getting used to the possibility of an invasion and preparing them to respond to it quickly and decisively was what could give them the advantage.

With that, the young Stuart took this situation very seriously!

After that, the two men proceeded to the front of the mansion where hundreds of men and women in similar uniforms had already assembled.

At the same time, Emlyn was moving swiftly while she tried to keep herself out of anyone's sight as much as possible. She found this quite amusing and entertaining since there wasn't much for her to do in the Spatial Kingdom.

Minos and Dillian eventually arrived in front of the mansion. The two observed the crowd as the young sovereign addressed with a loud and firm voice, "We are not certain of the level of the threat, but in any case, those who are below level 40 should return to your services."

"The rest will follow Butler Dillian and me towards the source of the warning signal!" Minos then declared.

Currently, before them, there were already about 140 soldiers who had reached the 5th stage, with some even at level 41!

Regardless of the enemy force's strength, if this group were not enough, then it wouldn't make any difference to take the other soldiers below level 40 only for adding up the numbers as it would only result in more harm.

Upon hearing Minos' orders, over two-thirds of the people who were present left the area, leaving only those with the rank of Sergeant behind.

"You heard the young master! Come on! Death to our enemies!" Soon, some of the most influential soldiers began to motivate their comrades following Minos and Dillian's footsteps towards the city's exit, from where the audible warning had originated.

...

As they ran towards their destination, several people on the streets of Dry City had already begun speculating on what might have happened.

"Eh? Why are so many soldiers following the young master?"

"Maybe it's some kind of training," someone responded without caring much about it.

"No, I have been here since the young master took control over the city, but I've never seen anything like this before! I think something must have happened."

"Hehe, old man, shall we go to take a look?"

The old man simply shook his head in denial of this suggestion before going back to his duties. The current strength of the Black Plain Army was quite formidable. He didn't think it was worth going to see this fight...

'I have a lot of bills to pay. I won't waste my time watching some idiot trying to challenge Mister Minos!' he thought as he went back to his business.

...

Meanwhile, at the spot where the soldiers had reported the alarm earlier, the carriage of the three Silva family members had finally arrived at the checkpoint.

Upon seeing this, the soldier responsible for the area, who had already reached level 40, immediately realized the strength of these people. 'Hell! The two of them are at level 48, and this woman is already at level 49!'

This soldier had never seen such powerful people in his life!

'Shit! With this, all I can do is try to wrap them up a little bit for the young master...'

The carriage suddenly came to a stop at the side of the control building next to the entrance gate, and one of the three asked, "Hey! What's going on in this place?"

"Welcome to Dry City, miss, gentlemen. About this, eh, if you want to know, I'm afraid it's a long story if you don't mind me..."

While the soldier was trying to start the conversation, he was suddenly interrupted by the woman in the group said nonchalantly. "Stop asking unnecessary questions, Austin. This person wants to hold us here."

"It makes no difference. Even if they have reinforcements, there is no way this place can pose a threat to us..." The blond-haired man chuckled as if amused and then continued, "But since Ms. Sarah wants to get this over with quickly, then let's proceed!"

After saying this, Austin exerted his spiritual pressure on the soldiers surrounding them and then commanded the spiritual beasts to continue moving forward.

There was no need for them to worry about this patrol group. There was only one person at level 40 in that place, while the rest were between levels 35 and 39.

"Ahh!"

Shouts erupted as the carriage began to enter the inner area. Most of the soldiers had passed out, while some were gasping for breath. The pressure they had felt just then was greater than they could handle, so most of them just couldn't take it.

'Shit, the pressure from someone at level 48 is overwhelming!'

After all, this level had over three times the energy as someone at level 40, like the soldier supervising this checkpoint.

...

Finally, as they made their way towards the area fortified by the walls, the three members of the Silva family saw the silhouette of Dry City.

"I can't believe my eyes!" exclaimed the oldest man in the group in astonishment.

He found it hard to believe what he was seeing with his eyes. There were certain things in life that someone would believe only after seeing them. However, even after witnessing some specific actions, many would still refuse to accept the reality!

The same had happened when an event was just too absurd to be considered true!

And what the trio was beholding at the moment was precisely the definition of absurdity. Dry City looked nothing like what it was supposed to be.

Despite its small area, the place appeared to be remarkably well developed, with many tall buildings, many trees lining the streets, and several notable structures.

And even though the group was still observing it from a distance, it was something that they could very simply discern, given the level of cultivation they were at.

As one's level of cultivation increased, their senses also improved. As a result, sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste became sharper as someone advanced in their cultivation level. And with the strength that the three had already achieved, they could easily perceive the details of Dry City from a distance!

"This... This can't be! How did this place grow to such a level?" Sarah questioned in an incredulous tone as she stepped out of her carriage and gazed at the city in front of them.

They could already sense the numerous arrays that were in operation in the area. Clearly, this town was in bloom, and nothing they knew about the Black Plain was correct!

While they were still shocked by the sight in front of them, a group of dozens of people finally appeared, running towards their direction.

"It looks like they already know we're here..." Dennis muttered in a low voice, still recovering from the previous shock.

"Ms. Sarah, we should better be careful and proceed with caution. The middle-aged man leading the group is already at level 48!"

Sarah, however, shook her head in denial, putting her confused thoughts aside. "Don't worry. I know that man. He is not a warrior. He is just a doctor."

"Hehehe, it seems like Butler Dillian has made significant improvement in his cultivation level..." Austin remarked with a smirk. "We will torture him until we find out what happened in this place."

At this point, the two groups finally came to a stop in front of each other as Minos finally took a step forward. "Members of the Silva family, huh..."
