Chapter 31: Chapter 31: The Family’s Decision
"So… I want to hear your suggestions. Where should we go next?" Shen Hao's dad asked the whole family, his tone serious as he looked at each of them.
Mo Han chuckled inside Shen Hao's mind.
"Hahaha! It seems like it's your fate to become powerful after all!"
Shen Hao was surprised by the sudden laugh, but deep down, he was also relieved. His biggest worry — how to get to Mexico — now seemed a little easier. Still, the problem wasn't fully solved. He needed to make sure his family actually chose that path.
Suddenly, Shen Hao's younger brother raised his hand. "I have an idea! Why don't we go to the Netherlands?"
His dad rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm… the Netherlands. I've heard it's peaceful. Good quality of life, modern cities…"
"Yeah," his younger brother added, "and I saw a video about their cities — they're clean, and there's a lot of tech and science there!"
Their mom nodded. "It does sound nice. But it's also very far, and we don't really know anyone there."
Then Shen Hao's older brother chimed in. "What about Canada? I read online that it's safe and people from our region are welcomed there. It's calm, stable... and the environment is good."
Dad leaned back slightly. "Canada… also a good option. But the winters are long and freezing."
The room went quiet for a moment. Everyone looked at each other.
Then Shen Hao spoke up.
"I know everyone has great ideas... and I understand your reasons. But I want to suggest somewhere different."
They all turned toward him.
"Mexico."
His mom raised an eyebrow. "Mexico? Why Mexico?"
"Yeah, what's over there?" his older brother asked, a little surprised.
Shen Hao took a deep breath. "I know it sounds strange, but I've been doing some research. Mexico has large, open areas — not too crowded. The cost of living is lower than most places we've mentioned. And... it's far from China. If we want a real fresh start, somewhere quiet and unnoticed, this could be it."
His dad looked skeptical. "But what about safety?"
"It depends on the area," Shen Hao replied. "There are peaceful towns, smaller cities where people live quietly. We won't go near dangerous zones. And we'll be smart about it."
His younger brother leaned forward. "Mexico, huh? That means tacos every day?"
The whole room chuckled lightly. Even in serious moments, humor helped.
"I'm serious," Shen Hao continued. "I think it's the best option. Somewhere we can blend in and not draw attention. And honestly... something in my heart tells me that's where we're supposed to go."
His dad stayed quiet for a few seconds. Then he slowly said, "Alright. I'll look into it. If what you're saying is true... we might seriously consider it."
"I'll help too," the older brother added, pulling out his phone. "Let's do proper research — videos, articles, everything."
Within the next hour, the family sat around the living room, phones and laptops in hand. They explored videos, read blogs, checked maps, and watched interviews of people living in Mexico.
After a while, their dad leaned back with a final sigh.
"Well... it seems like Mexico isn't such a bad idea after all."
Shen Hao smiled to himself, holding back the excitement that burned within.
The path was opening.
Now, it was time to prepare for the journey.
