The Reaction System

Hunter punched Jin back a few feet as air began to swirl around his arm, he hit the ground causing a massive tornado to engulf the two of them. As the wind swirled around them and the speed began to pick up and Jin says to Cain 

"He's different now! After that small transformation he is definitely stronger than me" 

"Sir he may be stronger, but you still have the advantage of speed"

Jin smirked as he activates Hyper Tension, Hunter dashed towards Jin lifting his arm up and began to flick the air at him sending out air bullets towards Jin. When Jin kicked off, the ground beneath him broke apart and sent debris flying in different directions. Suddenly one of Hunters air bullets collided with a piece of rubble breaking it into dust and smoke in the air, Jin flew through it and wound up a Shotgun, as he threw the punch he was smacked into the floor by the air.

"There is no escape this time, you got lucky last time. I'll make sure you don't make it out of this alive"

he began to flick air bullets at Jin, they traveled so fast that Jin's Hyper Sense could barely pick up on it. He threw his arms up to try and block it but was too late as they began to collide with him, his white hoodie was ripped apart revealing his wounded ribs and dark bloodied bruises from air bullets. 

"I can't stop... Ever"

Jin's fell onto the ground as blood leaked out from his wounds, he coughed up blood and Cain says 

"Sir if you push yourself anymore it could kill you. Is that what you want"?

Hunter slowly walked towards him; a sadistic smile was painted across his face as he slowly floated into the air landing in front of Jin 

"What happened to that cocky attitude of yours huh? You know I heard about something interesting yesterday"

Hunter got down to eye level with Jin and lifted his chin up to look him in the eyes and says 

"There was an attack in the downtown Venland district just before these tests started. I overheard Mr. Saldon talking to some officials.... A pregnant woman and her unborn child were devoured in front of her husband; a white-haired man then killed it..."

Jin's eyes widened as he looked Hunter in the eyes, lightning slightly crackled around him and said in a cold tone 

"Watch what you say next"!!

Hunter kneed Jin in the face and grabbed his hair holding him up, he spit out some blood and blood trickled out of his nose, he smacked him two more times before saying 

" Is that why you stood up for little Mia, trying to chase a redemption you know you don't deserve. I'll slaughter you just like your family was slaughtered in front of you.... Hmm I don't really like you, I won't lie that's rough man" 

Jin grabbed Hunters wrist gripping it tightly, he immediately threw a punch at Jin's face striking him with a right hook. Blood began to trickle out of Jin's mouth and when Hunter pulled his hand back Jin's face was cold and dead. Suddenly Jin activated Hyper Tension and slowly started to squeeze Hunters wrist, he let out a pained groan and tried to strike Jin in the face again. As his fist was about to collide with Jin he was swept of his feet, Jin flipped Hunter over slamming him into the ground 

"What?!" 

Jin kicked Hunter away sending him skidding across the concrete and he felt a sharp pain from his ribs; he gasped letting out a pained groan as he put his hand on it holding it as he tried to control his breathing 

"Sir your body can't take much more of this. Your ribs are in bad shape and if you keep going this will kill you, but I knwo you don't have any other choice so... You have to try to defeat him while trying to limit your movements" 

Hunter stood on his feet brushing the dust off himself and he angrily sent out a wave of air towards Jin. He planted his feet firmly and stood his ground, but Hunter immediately rushed him trying to throw a punch at Jin's face and his Hyper Sense activated and he slipped it. As it rushed past his face it made a whistling sound, and Jin kneed him in the stomach and Jin mutters "Shotgun" his fist shot forward striking Hunter in the face. When it collided, he used the momentum to punch his whole body into the ground. 

"AHHH... Tch you bastard"

Their eyes met and Hunter shot an air blast from his hands knocking Jin back giving him enough time to get up. Jin breathing heavy due his fatigue, his legs started to shake, Hunter saw this and smirked 

"You still haven't recovered from those injuries, Let's see how long you can hold out"

Hunter rushed at Jin and began to unleash a barrage of attacks, Jin's started to dodge them, and Hunter threw a roundhouse kick to Jin's ribs, he let out a loud shriek and stumbled back. Hunter rushed Jin and threw another punch but suddenly Jin heard Cain's voice echo in his head.

"Hyper Sense mastery level 2 achieved. You've unlocked a new passive sub-skill called, Reaction Prime"

Suddenly Jin dodged Hunters punch, spinning around him, Hunter jumped up and spun around attempting to kick Jin on the side of his head, but he ducked under it grabbing him by the neck and smashed Hunter's body into the ground.

"To explain sir, Reaction Prime creates a thin barrier of mana around your body, when something comes in contact with it your body will instinctively dodge on its own. It consumes a lot of mana so must use this carefully"

Hunter jumped up from the ground trying to strike Jin throwing punch after punch, but Jin was dodging it all with ease. Hunter slashed downward trying to slice Jin in half and Jin looked at him sidestepping letting the blade of air whiz past him. Jin immediately countered by headbutting Hunter in the face. As Hunter was falling back Jin grabbed his shirt pulling him into his fist and struck him with Shotgun, loud cracks and pops came from Hunters face and the wind that was encircling them started to dissipate and the voice from the speaker rung out 

"Time is up, if any cadets are still in the arena report to the entrance at once" 

Jin looked down at Hunter as he was laid out on the ground, he got on top of him and started to punch him repeatedly, Hunter kept trying to block him, but Jin didn't let up 

"You have the audacity to talk about my family... DO YOU KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO WATCH YOUR FAMILY GET EATEN IN FRONT OF YOU, I WISH IT WAS ME EVERYDAY" 

Jin started slamming his fists into Hunter the ground started to crack and give way to the impact of his punches; Hunters arms started to go limp as Jin kept attacking and he kept screaming as he smashed his hands into his face, Hunter looked at Jin and said something through his swollen broken face.

"Please... Just s... Stop"

He was cut off as Jin punched him again and again and again, suddenly a group of people ran over to them trying to pull Jin off of Hunter, but he broke out and continued the assault 

"THEY WERE EVERYTHING TO ME... EVERYTHING"!!

Jin raised both of his fists again and as he was about to slam them down on Hunter's face he was suddenly kicked off of him. When he looked up Eric stood above him and reaching his hand out, Jin looked at it and swatted his hand away getting up and leaving the arena swiftly. Eric looked at Hunter barely clinging onto life and said 

"Quickly get him to the infirmary now"! 

two people loaded Hunter onto a stretcher carrying him out of the arena, he looked around at the destruction and then looked down at the spot Hunter was laying in and a pool of blood started to gather at his feet. He turned around to walk away and thought to himself.

"Hmm he's more ruthless than I thought" 

As Jin was making his way back to his room he looked down at his hands and saw blood all over them, the skin on his knuckles was cut and bruised and he started to feel a huge wave of fatigue hit him all at once 

"Sir you have to rest now. If you don't soon your body will give out" 

Jin remained silent as he limped the rest of the way back to his room, when he entered the room he fell to the ground, his vision faded in and out until he passed out. Suddenly he woke up, he was in his old bed, and he heard someone call his name, it was fuzzy, but it was getting closer, he saw his door open, and Eva entered the room 

"Jin, what are you doing sleepyhead? You promised me you would take me shopping today" 

Jin looked around and he pinched himself looking back at her, tears filled his eyes, and Eva immediately rushed to him to comfort him. She grabbed his face wiping the tears streaming down his cheeks 

"Is this real... You're really here"?

"Jin, are you okay? What are you talking about"?

Jin hugged her tightly crying into her chest, she held him close brushing her fingers through his hair and asked him 

"Jin what's wrong? You can talk to me" 

"I had a dream. In it, you were killed in front of me by a Reaper. It was right after the ultrasound appointment... You called for me and I couldn't do anything"

Eva looked him in the eyes and smirked, she brought her mouth close to Jin's ear and whispered 

"It wasn't a dream my love". 

Jin heard screaming like it was right next to him and when he looked back at Eva an image flashed through his mind, all he saw was her body being ripping in half, it replayed in his head over and over again. 

"No this has to be in my head. That not true" 

Eva slowly started to disappear and wither away into nothing in his arms; he saw blood covering his hands and the second he closed his eyes to blink he woke up on the floor of his room. He pulled himself off the ground struggling with his rib injuries, he stumbled over to his bed letting out shallow breaths. When he finally fell onto his bed without even noticing he started to cry.

"Why do I have to suffer...? Haven't I suffered enough? Why can't I just have peace"?

A quick sudden knock rung out from his door, he sighed slowly getting up to open it and when he did Eric stood there with a dorky smile on his face 

"May I come in"? 

Jin hesitated but gestured him into the room, he limped over to a chair and sat down looking at Eric, and Eric looked back at him with a serious face and Jin asked 

"What do you want"? 

"I simply wish to talk about your future with our organization. I understand your in pain with your injuries at the moment, so I'll try to be quick"

Eric pulled a paper from his jacket pocket and placed it on the table in front of Jin, as he looked down it read "Hunter I.D application" he looked up at Eric and he said 

"You've been accepted! I must admit you're one of the most gifted cadets I've seen in a long time; I'll give you one week to decide whether this is what you truly want" 

Eric stood up and approached Jin's door and as he reached for the handle, he felt a tap on his shoulder. When he turned around, he saw Jin handing him the application, Eric looked down and saw it filled out already 

"Hmm meet me back here in one week for your orientation... I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish Jin Aldeus"
