The Reaction System

A day had passed since the incident with Zaigon and Jin was still recovering in the infirmary, he thought to himself about Zaigon and how he had even infiltrated the WHA in the first place. Suddenly a knock was heard from his door 

"COME IN" 

Mia walked through the door followed by Gwen; she walked over to his bed side and said 

"How are you feeling?

"Better... Still a bit sore" 

Mia grabbing Gwen by the arm bringing her closer to Jin and she nudged Gwen with her shoulder. Gwen looked at Jin and said

"We haven't met yet... my name is Gwen it's nice to meet you" 

"Likewise, my name is Jin. I'm just glad no one else got hurt" 

Mia walked over to the corner of the room grabbing two chairs for them and she sat down looking Jin in the eyes. As they looked at each other Jin looked a little uncomfortable and Mia broke the awkward silence

"They've been investigating since last night. They haven't uncovered anything yet, but something has been on my mind... Why would he attack so deep into the city"? 

"I don't know but he did say he wanted to test me for his master, whatever that means"!

Gwen chimes in saying 

"It sounds really sketchy! We know of intelligent Reapers but one that can change its appearance, that's on another level".

Jin tried to get up from the bed and struggled a bit, but he managed to stand on his feet. He walked over to a table next to his bed and grabbed his clothes, they had been repaired and cleaned 

"I'm going to step into the bathroom for a second excuse me"

Jin entered the bathroom inside his room and began to change, when he took off the gown, he noticed the true extent of his changes, his body was muscular and lean 

"I guess I haven't actually taken a look until now but my body...I'm ripped"

"Sir I know what you're thinking, participating today could prove to be very dangerous. You haven't even recovered from your injuries"

Jin slipped his baggy sweatpants on and as he was trying to slip on his sweater he says 

"Well, I can't just sit around and do nothing, today is the final test so I have to be there".

"Okay sir I trust in your decision, just don't get yourself killed"

Jin exited the bathroom and Mia and Gwen still sat patiently waiting for him, he opened his room door and gestured to leave. When they all left the room Gwen reluctantly asked 

"Are you sure you'll be okay for today's test; you're still pretty banged up"

"I'll be fine, the pain is nothing compared to what I feel everyday"

Jin's face turned from excited to sadness as he realized he said too much, Mia looked at him observing his face. As they continued to walk Hunter stopped them in their tracks 

"Hey Mr. Cheap shot! What do we have here"?

"Just leave us alone Hunter, were just trying to go to the briefing room" 

Hunter looked at Mia and slowly walked towards her the closer he got the more she tensed up; Jin stepped in front of them and said in a cold tone 

"Do I have to show you what happens when you misbehave.... Again"

Hunter looked at him and their eyes met sparking an intensity everyone could feel in the air. As they looked at each other all Hunter could see when he looked at Jin was absolutely nothing, it sent a shiver down his spine and he says 

"Fine I guess I'll see you in the final test I heard this one will be us cadets battling each other so we'll see who comes out on top" 

Hunter walked away from them letting out chuckle, they continued their way to the briefing room and when they entered everyone was sat neatly in chairs waiting for Eric to arrive, the three of them sat down and Eric walks in nonchalantly and says 

"Welcome Cadets, this will be the final test. In this test you all will battle against each other, I want to see your decision-making skills and your natural ability to use your own power. You are out when you are either knocked out or you surrender, do not fatally wound anyone, if I see anyone trying to kill, I will personally remove you from this test myself do I make myself clear"

"SIR YES SIR" 

The cadets roared out as they all followed Eric to the training arena. When they entered, they noticed they altered the arena again to look like a giant concrete platform big enough for all the cadets to fight on. Jin looked around observing the cadets and says to himself

"I probably won't be able to move the best, my ribs are still broken but I don't care. This is the final step"

"Now cadets to explain one more thing... You have 45 mins for this test. This is only for us to see what you got when you fight with everything you have, now spread out and get ready to begin" 

They all spread out and Jin caught Hunter staring at him and he pointed at Jin smirking then mouthed the words "I'm coming for you" from the other side of the arena. Jin took a deep breath, and a sharp pain shot through his chest. As the Cadets readied themselves Jin's body surged with mana, a siren blared out followed by Eric shouting from the speaker 

"FIGHT"!!

Everyone rushed to the middle and immediately it was an all-out battle, Hunter and Jin met amidst the ensuing battle. They looked at each other and Hunter floated into the air summoning two tornados on each side of him, he threw his hands forward sending them at Jin

"Weapon Forge: Kali Sticks" 

Jin started to slowly run at them as his weapons formed in his hands. He activated Hyper Tension swiftly dodging the tornados, and suddenly they turned around shooting back at Jin he dropped the stick in his right hand 

"Shotgun"

He threw his arm towards the first tornado approaching him, when it collided the tornado flew into the other one causing them to dissipate. He turned to see Hunter floating back down towards the ground and Jin says to himself 

"This is going to be fun" 

Currently on the other side of the arena Mia and Gwen were in a fight of their own, Gwen held her hand up and created a giant ice javelin and threw it at Mia. 

"Heatwave"!

Mia shot out a massive wave of fire toward the javelin which caused it to almost instantly melt and turn to steam. Gwen summoned ice to her feet using to skate along the ground 

"Ice Shard Barrage" 

Suddenly behind Gwen dozens of small ice spike formed and shot at Mia, she uses her flames to take into the sky dodging them and punching them with her fire imbued fists

"Polar opposites, we are the perfect counter to each other"

Gwen said as she smacked her palm to the ground shooting this giant ice spike from the ground that shot up at Mia, she slightly dodged it getting a small cut on her cheek, the spike grew so high it pierced the ceiling breaking a hole open in it. Suddenly Mia stops in mid-air, her body began to heat up and her body started to engulf itself in flames until her body was covered, Gwen smirked and started to do the same. When their power ups stopped, Mia sported armor made from her wild flames and Gwen sported ice armor made from her crystal-like ice. Mia lowered herself to the ground and they both stood still for a moment 

"Hmm fire and ice... Show me what you got Gwen" 

Gwen summoned an ice blade from her armor which she broke off and flourished it. Mia's hands burst into flames as she got into and dashed at her and they clashed; Mia blocked her blade punching Gwen in the stomach twice before throwing a spinning back kick at her chest 

"Icy Mist" 

Gwen blew a mist from her mouth that started to slowly freeze Mia's flames, Mia charged her body again and shouted 

"SUPERNOVA"!!

A massive wave a fire was sent out from her body nullifying Gwen's Icy Mist, Mia rushed her again, but she kicked Gwen's hand disarming her and threw a punch at her face to which she caught a punched Mia in the chin. They both were evenly matched each trading blows and countering each other a voice rung out from the speaker 

"1 Cadet has been eliminated" 

After the voice rung out Mia and Gwen both threw a punch that collided with each other sending them both back. They both were breathing heavy, and they looked each other in the eye as if they both knew this would be the final attack each of them threw. Both of their auras became unstable and as they both charged their mana and each of them unleashed a shockwave 

"Ashen Hell Burning Blaze" 

Mia shot out a massive beam of fire from her hands, as it barreled toward Gwen the flames slowly turned blue, Gwen whispers 

"Absolute Zero Ice Wave" 

Gwen shot out her own massive beam of ice, when the beams collided, the area around them began to break apart and each side simultaneously burning and freezing at the same time. Mia began to falter as she was being pushed back, she felt Gwen push harder and harder and she said to herself 

"I made a promise and intend to keep it" 

She planted her foot down and began to move forward pushing back with everything she has, Gwen surprised tried to put more power into it only to have Mia scream out 

"OVERCHARGE"!

Her body glowed red, and the beam became stronger and hotter, it was so hot the concrete around it and herself began to melt, the beam broke through Gwen's shooting toward her. She held her arms up hardening her ice armor and when it collided with her an explosion rung out, in the process she knocked out two other Cadets with the explosion. When the dust settled Gwen was on the ground and Mia's eyesight faded and before falling unconscious says 

"I did it father, I'll... Make you proud"

"4 Cadets have been eliminated" 

Back to Jin and Hunter they continue to trade blows until Hunter catches Jin off guard with a gust of wind that hit him into the ground. Hunter shot himself down attempting to smash Jin in the face with his foot, but Jin's Hyper Sense activated, he dodged Hunter by rolling to the side. As he kept rolling Hunter kept trying to step on him until Jin jumped up and hit Hunter with a right hook followed by an uppercut making Hunter take a few steps back holding his chin

"I must admit, I underestimated you. No more"

Hunter plants his feet on the ground and his body surged with mana, air swirled around him, and it began to speed up until Jin could barely stand anymore, it started to knock other Cadets from the arena sending them flying at walls. As he was powering himself up Jin coughed up some blood and looked at it on his hand

"I can't fight much longer... It hurts" 

"NOW YOU WILL SEE JIN, MY TRUE POWER.... ASPECT OF FUJIN" 

Hunter let out a massive shockwave sending out a powerful gust of wind knocking everyone except Jin into the walls knocking most of them out, His body had changed his hair was now a light brownish tan color instead of his regular black hair. His body thinned out becoming leaner and more muscular and when he opened his eyes, they glowed a light tan color, he lifted up his hand and slightly waved it in Jin's direction sending multiple wind slashes at him. Jin quickly summoned a sword slashing through a few of them not before getting gashed on his left hand, blood instantly began to pour out of his hand and Hunter instantly appeared in front of Jin saying 

"You should've kept to yourself; I don't care if we're being watched hmm, I'll just make it look like an accident"
