The Reaction System

The day after the tests wrapped up, Jin returned home he stumbled through his house and fell onto the couch 

"Ugh... My body feels like it could give up any second" 

"Well of course sir, you pushed yourself too far yesterday. I was quite surprised when you didn't lose consciousness" 

He slowly sat up on his couch letting out a groan as he did so, he lifted his shirt up and he looked at his body riddled with bruises and small cuts.

"Geez, that guy did a number on me. I look like someone got done beating a raw turkey" 

Jin stood up and took his sweater off, he slowly stumbled into his bathroom undressing himself completely and stepped into his shower. As the water trickled down his body, he closed his eyes and suddenly felt a hand brush against his back, memories flooded his mind, he heard a light whisper in his ear.

"I love you Jin" 

He turned around looking behind him only to see he was alone; he clenched his teeth grinding them together as tears began to fill his eyes. 

"Sir.... It's okay to let it out"

Jin sat down as the water fell on him and he began to sob uncontrollably, he tried to control his tears, but they kept coming.

"It should've been me; they didn't deserve to die like that.... I can still remember the day I met her"

Jin thought back to the day they met and remembered himself walking into a cafe near his office building. When he got his drink from the barista he turned around and bumped into a woman spilling his drink all over himself, she immediately tried to wipe his shirt down. 

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm such a klutz"

She looked up at Jin and he was speechless; everything went silent for him and all he could focus on was her beautiful green eyes. 

"Sir... Sir, are you okay"?

"Uhm what? I'm sorry what did you say"?

She walked past him with a smirk on her face and said something to the barista; she looked back at Jin he tilted her head towards the barista and said 

"Let me get you another one it's the least I can do"

After they received their order, she sat down at a table and gestured Jin to follow. When he sat down, she immediately asked 

"What's your name? My name is Eva Lamont"

"I'm Jin Aldeus. It's nice to meet you" 

Eva reached into her bag pulling out a sketchbook and clicked her mechanical pencil and began to sketch something. 

"So, you're an artist. Haha I can't even draw a good stick figure" 

"Yea I do it on the side for money. I actually work at the history museum; I just help keep everything tidy and sometimes I do tours".

She ripped a piece of paper from her sketchbook and slid it across the table towards Jin. When he picked it up, he saw a picture of himself and although it was quick it still looked great, he smiled setting on the table.

"It's really good! Why don't you try doing art full time? I bet people would go crazy for your art" 

"Oh, you're just saying that" 

they both locked eyes and he could see her blushing, he took a sip of his drink and smiled replying 

"Hey, I know we just met and everything but um... I love history and ancient artifacts, could you maybe show me around the museum sometime"! 

As he finished saying this, she slid a small piece of paper over to him, he picked it up and looked at it and it was the address of the museum. Eva stood up gathering her things and she smiled before saying

"It's a date"!

Back to reality Jin still sat in his shower, he was eerily quiet, he turned off the water as it ran down his body, he got out the shower drying himself with a towel and proceeded to walk into his room. As he entered his room, he opened his closet and got himself dressed, he turned around he saw the picture Eva drew of him on his side of the bed.

"I will avenge you.... No matter how long it takes, I'll kill them all" 

Meanwhile a couple miles outside the city in the middle of the night, Eric sat on a rock waiting in silence.

"Where are those bastards"!

He crossed his arms tapping his finger on his arm when suddenly he heard a cluster of footsteps approaching him from behind. As he turned around, he said

"Well, took you two long enough"

"Sorry master… we ran into some trouble preparing some of the Reapers for the assault"

Eric sucked his teeth looking at them with anger in his eyes saying with a stern voice

"Are they ready now"?

"Zaigon is preparing them now, all they need is your word and we can commence the attack"

Eric snapped his finger engulfing him and the two Reapers in a thick black smoke that swirled around them and when it dissipated, they were teleported to a balcony and Eric walked over to it and looked out seeing hundreds of thousands of Reapers. 

"Yes... When we will take Venland city. That will be the start of my reign"

Suddenly double doors opened behind him as Zaigon stepped through it, the other two kneeled in fear and Zaigon walked over and stood next to Eric.

"How long Zaigon"?

"Your army will be ready in one hour; your dream will soon be a reality" 

Eric smirked and his body slowly transformed, his body beefed up and spiked armor plates started to appear around his body, his skin turned black and red, his eyes turned a dark crimson red and his hands became clawed.

"When I'm done with the human race they will be screaming and running in fear"

Eric turned to look at Zaigon handing him a rock with a rune inscribed on it and said

"You will lead this assault... And you will finally get your rematch with Jin" 

Eric walked away leaving Zaigon and the other two Reapers by themselves, he turned to them as they kept kneeling and smirked saying to himself 

"Soon I'll wipe that dumb look off your face Jin, you don't even know what's coming"

The sun rose on the next day and Jin readied himself to go find more Reapers to fight and as he left his house, he saw an envelope on the ground in front of his door. When he opened it, it read

"Dear Jin... I wanted to invite you to Eva's memorial service. You've been hard to contact lately; I called around but couldn't find you anywhere, I hope you come mom, and everyone would love to see you. Sincerely Emily your sister-in-law".

Jin looked at it as tears welled up in his eyes, one tear rolled down his cheek and he crumpled the paper tossing it far away from him. 

"I don't think I can see them, it's too soon" 

he walked down the front steps of his home and when he made it to the sidewalk, he saw Mia pass him on the street she looked at him and her eyes widened 

"Jin... What are you doing here"? 

Jin looked around and looked back at his house and then looked back at her 

"Uh... I live here" 

"Oh duh, I'm sorry. So where are you planning on going"

Jin remained silent; she noticed him tense up and started to walk away but she stopped and turned her head towards him smiling 

"You coming"? 

Jin hesitantly began to follow her; she grabbed his arm and pulled him to speed up. They walked through the city and eventually made it to a park with a massive stone fountain in the middle of it, they sat down on a bench, and she looked at Jin noticing his cold demeanor 

"Are you okay? Even during the tests, you seemed so distant and quite frankly kind of scary" 

"I'm okay.... Theres just some things on my mind I wish I could forget"

she looked around watching people pass by them as she slightly inched closer to him, her elbow nudged him snapping him out of his blank stare 

"We all have things we wish we could forget, but it's those memories that help shape us into who we are, even the bad ones"

"Listen Mia, you're really awesome but I don't think I'm ready to be close with anyone yet" 

Mia scoffed standing up and moved in front of him 

"Look at me" 

Jin looked up at her and she had her arms crossed like she was expecting an apology 

"You can't just save me the way you did and ask me not to be friends with you. That's not how it works, it's not fair" 

"Look Mia I didn't mean anything by it..." 

Suddenly he was cut off by Mia shushing him, a confused look washed over his face and she says 

"We may not really know each other that well.... But you aren't getting rid of me just because you don't want to get close with people" 

Jin chuckled standing up and he looked in her eyes as his eyes glowed blue, he smiled and asked

"Did you get your Hunter ID application"? 

"Yes, I already sent mine in... Why"?

Jin turned around and began to walk away waving his hand goodbye

"I'll catch you later... I have some things I need to take care of" 

"That guy.... I just don't understand him" 

Jin walked for quite a while until he reached a house it was small, but it looked cozy. He lifted his arm up to knock but hesitated, his arm slowly dropped down and just as he was about to walk away the door swung open. A woman with long brown hair stood there and she looked at him with sadness in her eyes 

"Emily..."

Jin said softly before she hugged him and pulled him inside, Emily closed the door behind him and an older woman sat in a chair in front of him.

"What happened to you? You're hair.... Everything, it's so different"

"Things have been different lately, it'd take too long to explain"

The old woman got up from her chair and walked over to him and grabbed his face, she looked into his eyes and tears began to well up in her eyes. Jin hugged her as she cried 

"Do you really believe this is what God had planned for us"? 

She looked up at him as tears streamed down his face, she wiped them away and Jin says

"She had so much more love to give to this world, she was so happy about the baby.... I still can't get her screams out of my head" 

"She loved you so much Jin, she wouldn't want you to let this to eat you up inside."

Jin backed away wiping the tears off his face, he looked around sensing something with his Hyper Sense. Jin's body tensed up and he felt a shiver run down his spine 

"I... I have to go" 

Jin ran out the house and stopped in the middle of the street feeling an immense power approaching, it's like his body felt frozen when he heard his phone buzz. He grabbed it and a message popped up on the screen with a voice saying 

"All citizens report to the W.H.A facility immediately, a large swarm of Reapers has been detected coming straight for northside wall. Side note: Any and all able-bodied Hunters on or off duty, gear up and head for the front line"

Jin turned around and saw Emily leaving her house with her mom and other family members flooded out of the house, she spotted Jin and left her mother and walked over to Jin 

"Jin come with us"

He looked at her with a serious look on his face, he gave off an eerie vibe and he says 

"Get mom to the W.H.A facility and get yourself to safety" 

She felt the seriousness of his voice rattle through her; she nodded her head slightly and walked back over to her mother, suddenly his body let off a blue aura as lightning crackled around him. He shot forward running towards the north wall jumping over buildings and using them to propel himself faster.

"Sir you still haven't fully recovered yet, this could be dangerous" 

"I can't just sit back and do nothing, besides.... I can get stronger so next time I see that asshole Zaigon, I won't lose"

Jin was slowly approaching the north wall when he charged Hyper Tension, he leapt off the ground destroying it in the process. He landed on top of the north wall and met up with some other Hunters already waiting. When he looked out at the swarm, he suddenly felt scared, a man to his right says

"There has to be thousands of them, I don't even know if we can defend against a swarm that big" 

Jin and the other Hunters that lined up each readied themselves for the coming battle, Jin used weapon forge to summon twin swords and looked out with a slight smirk on his face and says

"Time to finally let lose"
