Chapter 84: Tony
After they were finished, and Bane made plans to come back and get some lessons from Barrock, the two of them left the shop.
"So? What next? Or is it time for lunch yet?" Bane asked after they dropped the pair of bows off at the training hall.
Lysia turned to him and nodded. "Yes. Since you made me go into that grouchy dwarf's shop, I am going to take you to a real blacksmith. You know, one that doesn't hide their goods in the back, and cleans their entire shop without the assistance of their wife."
"He cleans the shop himself? Sounds like he must really be a master blacksmith if his main concern is cleaning," Bane teased and Lysia gave him a shove.
"Come on, and stop mocking him. Tony is a very nice, and polite man, unlike some people I know," Lysia shot back, and Bane laughed.
"Alright, lead the way," he said, putting his hands behind his head.
Lysia rolled her eyes and started walking down the street, with Bane following after her. As they walked, a couple people would wave or say hi, and Lysia would reply while Bane remained silent. When they were about halfway to their destination, a group of girls ran over and stopped in front of them.
"Hi Lysia!"
"Hello, girls. How have you all been?"
"We are good! Is this the guy that you are marrying?"
While casual at first, this comment caught Lysia off guard, and Bane noticed. Being the asshole he was, Bane couldn't help but grin and take advantage of the situation.
.
"That's right. We are getting married!" Bane laughed, and then wrapped his arms around Lysia from behind.
The girls started to laugh, but then the color drained from their faces when they saw the furious look on Lysia's beet red face.
"You're dead," she growled and grabbed his arms, throwing him over her shoulder, and slamming him to the ground.
"Ow," he groaned, and the girls started screaming and running away, making Bane laugh. "Look, you scared them away."
Lysia tried to stomp on Bane, but his masterful self just rolled back and forth on the ground dodging each strike until Lysia was out of breath. No one stopped to watch, or paid any attention to the scene, fearing they might be pulled in, as well.
"Okay, okay, I give, let's go see the blacksmith. No more messing around," Bane said, getting to his feet, and brushing himself off.
Lysia nodded, and then offered him her hand. Bane looked at it like it was a snake, but took it anyway. The moment their hands locked, Lysia pulled his arm up to her mouth, and bit him. Unfortunately, Lysia almost cracked a tooth on Bane's impenetrable skin.
"Dammit woman, you're going to hurt yourself!" Bane snapped, and pulled his hand away, then looked at her, and realized her teeth had actually broken the skin. "Do I need to muzzle you? Why are you always biting me?"
"Because you are annoying! Why can't you just be a normal guy? Do you realize how much easier everything would be?"
Bane raised his eyebrows and pointed at his chest. "Have you met me? When have I ever done anything the easy way? Also, you fell in love with this idiot, and I told you that you were going to be getting the short end of the stick. Did I lie? You just need to stop getting so embarrassed."
"You are an idiot!"
"Hey, I am not just any idiot. I am your idiot," Bane smiled, and took her hand again. "Now, where the hell is this place?"
Lysia took a few deep breaths to calm herself down, and then pointed across the street.
"Right there, come on."
"Lead the way, my love," Bane said with a bow, and Lysia glared at him, but then dragged him along.
As they walked into the blacksmith, they were greeted by a handsome man with a chiseled jawline that looked like he was in his thirties, with a clean shaven head, and a well trimmed goatee. He wore black pants with a brown and gray vest, with a white shirt underneath. The first impression Bane got was that this was just a salesperson, but then he noticed the man's hands were dusty and covered in calluses.
Bane looked around the shop as the man walked over, and let out a low whistle.
"This place is mighty clean, but where is all the good stuff?" Bane asked as the owner, Tony walked over.
Lysia narrowed her eyes at Bane, but then focused on the man in front of them. "It is good to see you again, Tony."
"Ahh, Lysia! What brings you to a shop like mine? And who is this strapping young lad with you?"
"I was just showing my partner around, and he insisted we come in here. Sorry if he offended you, he has a knack for that," Lysia said, giving him a shove.
Tony's eyes went big as saucers, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he looked Bane up and down, then around his shop.
"So? You have an eye for quality? And you can tell from a single glance that none of these are good?" Tony asked as he turned back to Bane with a smile.
Bane walked in, and looked around some more, but after no more than a minute, he turned back to Tony. "If I am being honest, the best weapon you have on display isn't half as good as the shit Barrock has piled in the front of his store."
Lysia was about to hit Bane again, but Tony started to laugh. "You and that grouchy dwarf must really get along, but you aren't wrong. Barrock is a 9th tier Grandmaster Blacksmith, while I am only at the first tier. Since I am a human, that will probably be my peak."
Bane frowned. "You look pretty young to me."
Tony laughed. "I was only 5 a couple days ago, so I am enjoying this body while I can! I am actually 67, so I assume at some point, I will return to my old body."
"Ahh, that must be weird," Bane agreed and Lysia was looking back and forth between the two of them waiting for Bane to say something stupid, and he didn’t disappoint her.
