The Hero of Hypnosis

Chapter 175: Don't touch my family

Purple blood stained the dead ground as demonic beasts were slaughtered endlessly. When one beast would die, another would take its place. No one had time to take breaks, but Kai made sure to keep everyone in peak condition as he used his power to heal their injuries and restore their mana and stamina.

A colossal orgre beast tore through the front lines, forcing Kai and Horith to step up.

With his chained blades, Kai cleanly sliced off the ogre's legs, dashing between them before the beast collapsed, then ran up its back and sliced off its arms as well. He then kicked it forward, and an arrow cleanly tore through its head, killing it.

"Nice work," Horith smirked.

"You too. Better keep that aim up when facing the demon king."

"Ha! I never miss, pal."

Kai laughed and flew off in another direction to kill some more beasts.

'I guess I'll have to keep this up until the demon king shows his face. Well, I'm racking up a shit ton of points so I can do this all d-' His alert senses instantly went off, blaring in his head.

His vision shifted to his home in Hearthwood, and his wives were panicking as two demons were trying to break down the defenses he had put in place before traveling.

"No!" Kai vanished without a trace, teleporting back to Hearthwood to save his family.

"Wait! Kai!" Horith tried to call out to him, but it was too late. "Dammit!"

"Where did he go?! Why did he leave?!" Celeste was confused, wondering why Kai would abruptly leave, but she couldn't dwell on it as she had to continue giving aid to everyone present.

"I'm sure he'll be back! We just need to keep pushing forward until he does." Horith was confident.

But then, a powerful figure emerged through the chaotic energy, its red eyes glowing and its hatred striking fear in everyone.

"S-Shit! That's some bad timing." Horith gulped and prepared to face the demon king.

---

"This is the place, right?" The horned demon asked

"Yes. Our information told us that this house belongs to Kai." The yellow-eyed demon responded.

"Great, now I can kill that fucking bastard."

Currently, the two demons managed to infiltrate Hearthville, disguising themselves as humans and walking among them without being detected. They were more than powerful enough to mask their demonic presence and strolled over to Kai's house without any worry.

The horned demon felt a great sense of joy knowing that he would be responsible for killing Kai's wives and unborn children. He couldn't wait to see the look on his face, the look of defeat and sorrow.

His mouth was salivating just thinking about it.

Then, as they took another step, they felt something in their bodies. It wasn't a bad feeling. In fact, this feeling couldn't have come at a better time. It was the feeling of their power being amplified too much that they couldn't even mask their energy anymore, not that they cared in the first place.

"T-This power!"

"Our lord has risen!"

"Hahahaha! Yes! Lord ShadowEdge! Thank you! Your humble servant shall be by your side shortly. I'll take care of a loose end so you don't have to worry about two heroes!"

The horned demon rushed toward Kai's mansion, but then a barrier pushed him back.

"Seems like his home is well fortified. No matter, these defenses will break with time."

"EEEEKKK!"

"DEMONS!!!!"

"RUNNNNNN!"

"CALL THE ADVENTURERS!"

"Yellow-eyes, you handle them. I'll destroy this barrier." Horned demon smirked as he bombarded his power onto the barrier.

"Very well."

Inside the home, Martha, Mary, Linda, and Laura all yelped in fear, feeling the house's defenses being destroyed. They knew that Kai made sure to keep them safe, but that didn't mean they weren't scared overall.

George, Paul, Carl, Josh, and Richard all stormed out of the guest house, their weapons and armor donned. Sweat dripped down their faces as they saw a demon trying to break through the barrier, but they knew that they needed to protect Kai's women or die trying.

"Hahahaha! This barrier is nothing for me!" Horned-Demon physically grabbed the barrier, and it shattered into a million pieces.

His energy surged, causing George and the others to fall to their knees, clutching their throats as they gasped for air.

"Puny mortals. So weak and fragile." Purple energy pulsed on his fingertip. "I'll end you in one blow."

The moment the purple energy escaped the horned demon's finger, it suddenly vanished, and his finger snapped in half.

"Arghhh!! The fuc-Eughhhh!!"

A strong hand gripped his throat, squeezing it tightly as air failed to enter the demon's lungs. His feet dangled in the air as he was lifted up, and his face started to turn red.

"Don't you dare lay a finger on my family!" Kai's eyes were blazing red with fury and energy. Just the thought of his women being harmed was enough to make him lose his shit.

Without holding anything back, he blasted the horned demon with his heat vision, disintegrating his upper half in an instant.

"Get back inside," Kai told the others.

They wasted no time and ran back into the guest house.

"Kai!" Laura shouted.

"Stay back. I don't want you to get hurt." Kai placed another barrier around his home. This time, it was more powerful and durable than the last one.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

A massive explosion went off around Kai's body, completely engulfing him in purple flames. But then the flames were suddenly sucked into a ball, revealing Kai completely unscathed on the other side.

"I think you lost this." He teleported behind the yellow-eyed demon, who returned and attacked Kai after sensing what he did to his companion.

"You can have it back." The purple flames blew up on the demon's back, burning him until it was black, and he crashed into the ground.

"Hahahahaha! Yes! That's how it should be! I expected nothing less from a hero candidate!" The horned demon stood up, and his upper half regenerated, completely reforming his upper body minus the shirt he was wearing.
