The First Cultivator - Changing Existence

Chapter 899: Inheritance - 899

The first human walked into the fog alongside the other humans. But in just a few steps, the fog grew so heavy he could see nothing except himself.

Eventually, it became so heavy he could not even see his own hands.

The fog slowly started to turn dark, and his mind grew cloudy. Up and down seemed to switch, reason seemed to fade. It was like he was transported back in time.

Around him were millions of humans bowing. He was their god, their ruler. He was the first human, the being that had allowed them to exist. He had cared for them and protected them from both outside threats and themselves.

In the next moment, countless chains were thrown by these humans, tying him down. The people he had cared for, the beings that had worshipped him, dragged him down from the heavens and trampled on him.

Although it felt like the first human was experiencing this, he could still faintly feel the feeling of walking through the fog. He could either fall into this illusion, giving way for his hatred, or he could continue onwards. It seemed simple, but the magical effects of the illusion pulled him deeper and deeper.

But his heart had long been steeled. He no longer cared about humans.

He walked forward through the fog as the illusion dissipated. If this had been before their Universe had been invaded and they had been captured by the Sovereigns, then perhaps he wouldn't have been able to walk through this illusion. But he had a greater goal now, and humans didn't matter.

The fog appeared around him as he continued walking forward.

Before long, he fell into another vision. In this vision, humanity no longer hated him. They were on their knees, begging him to take them back. They claimed they had been misled, that they hadn't understood just how much he mattered. They had been greedy, and they regretted it all.

They offered up the head of the human ruler, as well as any other traitorous being involved in his creation.

Once again, if this had been before the descent of the Sovereigns, the first human may have faltered, perhaps even truly forgiving humanity and falling into the illusion. But once again, he no longer cared about humanity. He walked through the illusion without giving the kneeling humans so much as a second glance.

The fog appeared, and before long, a third vision appeared.

He was a god above countless beings. All of humanity was under his control. He had the power to crush those that had betrayed him and make humanity pay for their crimes against him.

Yet he walked through the fog. He had nearly forgotten about the trial itself. He was instead focused on himself, and how he had truly severed humanity's connection with his heart. These three illusions only solidified that even more.

From above, a powerful being focused on the first human. He was the only human left in the trial, and he had just passed the final stage.

"This one is good, but his heart has been completely severed from humanity. Would it truly be good to invite him to join the Wang clan?" A younger woman at the side asked.

"Our ancestor betrayed humanity. Do you think he had any feelings for humans?" The old woman controlling the trial asked.

The woman was just about to end the trial when a disturbance appeared.

In a Universe quite close to the Sovereign Tree on a Universal scale, a beam of light flew out. Countless powerful beings saw the beam of light, but none tried to stop it. The opportunities of the Inheritance Universe could not be stolen.

In the distance, a wolf laying down glanced at the light, then at the distant sovereign tree.

He lazily muttered. "The Wang clan is recruiting a good talent. Better hope he isn't too good."

At another side of the inheritance Universe, a human spoke. "To draw an inheritance out of the Inheritance Universe while so far away is extremely rare. The Sovereigns should be happy."

In the Wang clan's ancestral ground, a young looking man opened his eyes. They were colder than cold, yet more indifferent than anything else. He merely looked at the passing inheritance before closing his eyes.

Within the fog, the first human was lost in his thoughts. Suddenly, a beam of light hit him in the forehead. He passed out on the spot, prompting the old woman to disperse the fog and grab him.

Just as she touched him, she was drawn into a vision the first human was experiencing.

"HEART LIKE A BOULDER." A voice shouted.

It seemed to travel through time and space, causing the old woman to spit out blood.

Although the speaker of these words was not even close to the level of a False Immortal, the mere conviction of his words traveling through time and space were enough to cause her harm.

These were the words of a being so weak even a Sage could wipe him out with a breath. A being whose inheritance had long been lost to time. A being whose inheritance was not even the main inheritance where it was located. That spot belonged to Chen Jie.

This voice came from the White Palace City's inheritance ground, a place lost to time countless Sage Years ago.

Yet these words appeared in the Universe once again.

A few days later, the first human woke up.

His first sight was a young woman looking at him with curiosity. Mere moments later, an old woman appeared, moving the young lady to the side.

"Good morning and welcome to the Wang clan." She said.

"Did I pass?" The first human asked.

"Yes. You are the only one. You also received an inheritance from the Inheritance Universe. If you don't mind, can you tell me its origins? You don't have to tell me what it does." The old woman asked.

The first human searched his mind and found the answer. "White Palace City."
