Chapter 898: The Wang Clan - 898
After thinking, the first monster asked a question. "Do you at least have a plan?"
"Of course. We gather our strength together, look for weaknesses or escape points, and run as fast as we can." The old man said.
The first monster and the first beast were silent for a moment.
"If you want to learn anything about the specifics, you need to gain our trust. That is why I brought you here. You must complete a mission before we can allow you to truly join the resistance. That mission is to kill one of the Beast alliance's lords. Any of them will do, weak or strong. You must also have the ability to make sure there is no suspicion on your part, hiding all of the evidence that could lead back to you or me. Since you two were recruited at the same time, you can work together on this mission. Until then, go on. You can't disappear for too long."
With a wave of his hand, the old man sent both of them flying back to the surface. When they could see again, they were where they had fallen down the first time. Even when they looked, they couldn't find the cave or the old man.
They looked into the distance and continued towards the central mountain. It didn't take very long to reach it. When they stepped foot on it, they were able to see a large hall in the distance. It could be assumed that this was the hall of beasts. As Heaven Immortals, they could move through this area very quickly.
They found the entrance to the hall of beasts and entered without being stopped. Within were thousands of beasts, tens of thousands of posters all around, and hundreds of desks.
The first beast and the first monster went up to a desk and asked why they had been sent here by the beast lord.
There was a mission system in place for payments, and a whole society around the central mountain and the other 108 mountains.
The first monster and the first beast were able to settle down in a cheap house on the central mountain, which was far larger than most galaxies. They took missions and slowly ingrained themselves into the society of the Beast alliance.
After a while, they even entered the Star Immortal realm. Within the Sovereign Tree, this was quite good.
The weakest beast lord was in the Celestial Immortal realm, and although they were confident in fighting one together, it would cause a commotion. They didn't want that. They wanted to quietly assassinate one.
So time passed. Within the flat land space, the first human had also entered the Star Immortal realm. He had not been idle. He and the human ruler had joined forces, their differences put aside in front of a far greater enemy.
The first human was able to conceal himself very well, and even though the flat land space was under the observation of powerful beings, he was able to sneak out.
Unless a Celestial Immortal with great detection skills specifically searched for him, he most likely wouldn't be found.
He had spent many Sage Years wandering around the Sovereign Tree in hiding, though he knew to stay away from any areas with a powerful presence.
Eventually, he stumbled upon a circular piece of land with nothing but a mountain in the center. It was covered in a dense fog that seemed to represent one of the six Sovereigns of the Sovereign Tree, the Sovereign of Death.
In the fog, he could sense a few figures, each one overwhelmingly powerful. Yet it didn't seem as though they could move at all. After a few minutes of staring and analyzing, he came to the conclusion that these beings were tied down and covered in chains.
By that logic, this must be some sort of prison for powerful individuals.
The first human considered going inside of the fog, but he knew that what awaited him would be instant death. In addition, he sensed a powerful being nearby. He did not dare get too close for fear that he would be discovered and exterminated.
Before he left, he made out a figure in the center of it all, a giant covered in chains. The first human concluded that this must be the same giant that had terraformed so many flat lands.
After returning to his flat land, the first human fell into thought. He wasn't sure how the first beast and the first monster were doing, but unless they had made better progress, it seemed that their best chance of escape would involve the prison itself. If they could release all of those beings, then they could either destroy the beings in the Sovereign Tree or at least create a distraction that allowed them to take their Universe and leave.
But to do that, more strength was required.
It was around this time when an envoy descended to the flat land space. Countless beings looked up as a humanoid figure appeared. It was a human in a cloak, only her face visible.
"Any human above the Earth Immortal realm is invited to visit the Wang clan and take a test for citizenship. Those interested should be at the top of the flat land space in three days." The human figure said before leaving.
The first monster saw this as an opportunity. So did the human ruler, but after careful consideration, he stayed on the flat land. Their people could not go without some sort of leader, so he decided to stay behind.
Three days later, 20 humans stood at the top of the flat land space, below a giant structure.
The human figure appeared again, and a spaceship appeared. "All may board now."
The 20 humans entered the spaceship as it blinked and flew towards a different location within the Sovereign Tree.
In just moments, they arrived in a misty land.
Fog was all around, and in it was the power of illusions.
"Welcome to the Wang clan grounds. The test you are about to take is extremely difficult, so it is possible none of you will pass. To start, just walk into the fog and one of the ancestors will begin the trial."
