Chapter 12: A mother's worries
Then, hearing Gelda's words, Lilith thought the kids had either been killed or kidnapped by whoever had opened the cathedral doors. As she and Domr reached the cathedral, Lilith teared up and couldn't help but cry when she saw Liebe and the others were safe.
She rushed forward and hugged Liebe tightly, crying tears of joy.
"Thank god you're safe… I thought I lost you forever," she whispered.
Liebe said, "Mom, I'm fine…"
But Lilith just cried for a second longer and held him even tighter.
"Mommy… I can't breathe," Liebe muttered.
Lilith pulled back, wiping her tears. "Are you hurt anywhere? What happened here? Where are the enemies? Are they using camouflage magic?!"
Domr sighed. "You done crying like a 3-year-old now?"
Lilith gave him a quick glare. "Father, do you have any idea what could've happened?"
Domr replied, "From what I can see… basically, the kids were playing around, got too curious, and wanted to see what was inside the cathedral. And since Liebe is a member of the House of Faust, the lock recognized him and opened. The stone Cerberus let them in."
Lilith turned to Liebe. "Liebe… is what your grandpa is saying true?"
Liebe shrugged. "Maybe, Mommy."
Licht said, "Possible."
Alysa added, "It isn't out of the question."
Elizabeth said softly, "Somehow…"
Lilith exhaled. "Liebe, don't ever do that again. Do you know how worried I was?"
She looked at all the children. "Now kids, let's go inside. And don't ever tell anyone what you saw here today."
Seeing Lilith cry tears of relief, Gelda couldn't help but smile.
As they walked back together, Liebe looked up and said, "Mommy, you're here early. Does that mean… you came early for me?"
Upon hearing those words, Lilith couldn't help but say with a soft smile, "Yes."
Domr, standing behind them, gave a small nod and a rare chuckle.
Liebe grinned. "Yeaahhhhh!"
Then he shouted, "Mommy, join us and play with the Ursarius!"
Lilith laughed gently. "Sure."
"Tag! Mommy, you're it!" Liebe shouted and ran off. "Now try and catch me!"
