The Abandoned Prince With The Otherworldly Shopping System

Chapter 7: Ballista

When Luke returned to his office, Kevin had already shown all the elves their cabins, but the elves had not neglected to ask if they could stay together for a while.

When Kevin did not refuse, they were all delighted, and the man with white hair and bright green eyes, who seemed to be the leader of the elves, asked Kevin directly:

"Sir... who exactly is the person who accepted us?"

Although Kevin was a little suspicious of the elf's question, he could see from their wounds that they had fought for their lives to get here.

Some of them even had slave marks on them, which suggested that they might have escaped from illegal slave traders.

"First Prince Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera. The person who helped you is this one," Kevin replied.

When these words and names reached the elves' ears, each of them stared at Kevin with wide eyes.

The green-eyed elf then spoke in a calm tone, as if asking a question, "Saint?"

When Kevin nodded his head up and down, the green-eyed elf knelt down and said, "Praise be to the Great Goddess for showing us the light of the saint."

Kevin looked at the green-eyed elf curiously and asked, "What do you mean?"

"We live in the middle of the Hiera Empire. We are far from the capital, but not close to the north, south, east, or west. In other words, we are not in any duchy's territory... Yet our race began to be hunted down and condemned to slavery for crimes we did not commit. We are a small village, so it was quite easy to hunt us down, even though we are elves. Our village leader had a dream. The goddess told him to head north and find [Saint]," replied the green-eyed elf.

Kevin nodded as if he understood and asked, "What is your name?"

"My name is Theodas, sir. Theodas the Green," replied the green-eyed elf.

"Green?" Kevin asked.

"I have a great affinity for nature magic, sir," said Theodas.

"Wait here. I need to go speak with His Majesty," said Kevin after hearing everything.

After arriving at the mansion and talking with Luke for a long time, Luke called Theodas and said the following:

"I need a place for you to stay and hunters under my command. It's hard to find better hunters than elves. That's why I'm inviting you and the people from your village here. They can come here regardless of their race, age, or gender."

Upon hearing Luke's words, Theodas suddenly fell to his knees and bowed down, saying, "Praise be to the Great Saint! We will never forget your kindness!"

Luke replied, "I never needed thanks; just… being well is enough." He then ordered Theodas to leave the room.

When Theodas left the room, he looked at Kevin and said, "Stay with me; we need to finish the sketches quickly. If they are from outside the capital, it could be one of the villages behind the northern border… In that case, it might take them a month to go and return with a large village population."

Kevin, obeying orders, had moved to another desk in the office and had already begun to come up with other ideas by examining the sketch of the village boundary in more detail.

As time passed, half a month had gone by, and the elves had set out again on the night of the day they arrived.

Being elves granted them superior healing abilities.

Not only that, but since Luke was still technically a prince, he had given Theodas the imperial family crest and instructed him to deliver a letter directly to the imperial palace.

Even though he no longer held a rank and there was no hierarchical connection between him and the imperial family, he knew that those living within the empire had no connection to the chaos caused by his gift.

He was kind-hearted. He did not seek revenge. Being alone would be enough for him. That is why he wanted to send word to the capital about any potential danger within the empire, so that he would not have to worry about it later.

For this, he had trusted Theodas. He had directly ordered him not to tell anyone where he was. After all, he did not want anyone to find him at that moment.

He had suffered enough.

During this process, he had managed to unlock more items in the shop panel and had successfully purchased something that would truly be useful:

[Ballista].

This was exactly what Luke had unlocked.

They had a wall. As Luke had learned, this wall was made of mithril, one of the most important metals in the world, and stones collected from the Tholien Mountains, the home of the Ancient Dragons, which is filled with magic.

In short, it would take a dragon's attack to destroy this wall.

Still, in such a situation, something was needed to further strengthen the defence. The ballista came into play at this point.

When Luke and Callum, whom he had called over, climbed the massive village walls, he had finally placed a ballista on top of the wall.

However, no matter how strong Luke's physical strength was, it was not strong enough to lift the ballista.

Therefore, Callum lifted the ballista and saw that it could move quite normally.

The village had suddenly gained a new security measure.

Luke worked nonstop for three days and placed a total of 32 ballistas along the walls of the entire village. Although only Callum could use them in the village at the moment, everything would change in the future when the elves arrived at the village.

While Luke and Callum were testing the ballistas' durability at the top of the walls again, they saw a creature running towards the gate.

Callum suddenly prepared to jump down from the wall, but as soon as Luke saw the creature, he said, "It can't cross the wall. Your chance to test the ballista has come, Callum."

It was time to see how effective this system was, at least in terms of defence.
