Chapter 6: Elves
The mansion Luke built had eleven rooms, three toilets, four bathrooms, two storage rooms, and three study rooms.
This was the very house where Kevin, Callum, and Luke would live together.
The interior was adorned with truly luxurious furnishings and even featured a small library with cookbooks spanning the history of the world.
In short, it was a perfect home.
Additionally, with Luke obtaining the mansion's blueprint, new materials, food, and many other items had become available in the shop panel.
The first thing that caught his eye was the advancement in medical supplies.
Materials Luke had never seen before were listed in detail in the shop panel, and to be honest, the details of each one were more than sufficient in his eyes.
It seemed like a method that allowed people and other races to heal without the need for expensive healing spells.
This meant that the marketing share would be very high, and perhaps sales could be made to the northern duchy that had to cope with the cold of the north.
In short, Luke had already managed to secure a new business opportunity despite already having a massive amount of money.
The current issue was finding a constant source of water and food for the village in case Luke wasn't around.
There were many mutant animals in the north, which meant warriors like Callum could hunt them. The downside was that there were no other warriors in the village besides Callum.
The women in the village, specifically those who were injured, were the ones with the most energy. This meant they had to go hunting, and six of them had been injured by weak creatures like horned rabbits.
This ruled out the possibility of hunting.
Another possibility was the wetland area near the village. Despite the extreme cold, it hadn't frozen over, but according to Callum's exploration, it was still as cold as ice, spanning hundreds of metres in width.
Perhaps something like fishing could be done. It wouldn't be too challenging for the village women, whose muscles had developed differently due to living in such conditions, and fish, a nutritious food source, could be brought into the village regularly.
Of course, this was only valid if there were fish in the lake.
The most likely option was to look in that direction... or rather, to look towards the lake.
After just a week, the energy in the village had completely changed. As Luke had suspected, there were indeed a significant number of fish in the nearby lake.
A small area near the lake had also been found to have a frozen clean water source, thus solving both problems.
Even though Luke was planning to build a massive food storage facility and an even larger water storage facility in the future, this was good news for now.
After all, despite his enormous wealth and the more than 400,000 gold coins he had, his money would eventually run out. Even if it didn't happen this year, it could happen in the next few years.
After all, Luke had noticed that no matter how many locks he opened on the shop panel, the items, food, and other things inside the locks he opened were becoming more expensive.
Not extremely expensive, but still expensive.
While Luke was drawing new sketches in his room at the mansion, thinking about how to place the newly unlocked structures like the smithy in the shop panel without disrupting the village's layout, he suddenly heard a knock on his door:
"Thud-thud-thud!"
Three gentle taps were enough to tell Luke that Kevin had arrived.
"Come in," Luke said in a calm tone of voice.
When Kevin entered, he had a look of surprise on his face, rather than his usual calm expression.
"Your Majesty, you may want to see this," Kevin said suddenly.
Luke, filled with curiosity, had left everything he was doing, stood up, and started following Kevin. After a short while, they reached the village wall, and Luke climbed the steps of the large staircase built along the edge of the wall. Looking down from the wall, he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Elves?" Luke muttered.
Just outside the village walls stood a group of fifty elves. A group of elves who were wounded and covered in blood.
"What is your purpose of coming to this village?!" Luke shouted curiously.
"To seek shelter!" came the reply from the man standing at the front of the elves.
When Luke heard these words, he turned to Kevin, who was standing right next to him, and asked, "What do you think?"
"Whatever you wish, Your Majesty. Your words are our command," Kevin replied.
Luke descended the stairs with these words and then stood in front of the wall, taking a deep breath.
He then used another item he had obtained from the shop panel to carve a large passageway into the wall.
The view of this part of the wall suddenly changed, and a passageway made of what appeared to be white wood, held together by chains, had formed.
Even though Luke didn't know what this white wood was, Kevin's eyes were wide open.
The old man could see the enormous amount of magical energy rising from the wood with his naked eyes.
What Luke had brought out was perfect. It was a certainty that these pieces of wood alone would be worth hundreds of gold coins.
When Luke signalled to Kevin, the old man immediately used a wheel to open the passageway, and the elves, in a state of shock, entered the village through the wide passageway made of white wood.
When Luke glanced at their numbers again, he turned around and then looked at Kevin again, giving a direct order: "Quickly bring every single sketch I drew in my office."
When Kevin had done what he was told within a minute, Luke gave orders one after another, clearing out a few more areas covered in snow.
Within a short time, each of these empty areas was filled with huts built for the villagers.
Luke quickly turned back to Kevin and said, "Make sure the elves are in good condition and have recovered."
With that, he returned to his office amid the elves' astonished stares.
