The level of focus you have developed to do a particular thing or complete your motive is meant to be unwavering focus.
unwavering means the one which is not distracted or deviated by any means and describes focus as the conscious guiding of "awareness" our attention through the mind.
He uses the metaphor of awareness as a glowing orbit, which we can intentionally direct toward specific areas rather than letting it wander aimlessly. This made me rethink how I approach my daily tasks.
Each time I bounce between decisions, meetings, emails, chats, and ongoing projects, I'm training my mind to lose focus rather than strengthen it. And in the long run, this scattered approach costs us clarity and effectiveness.
One method that stood out was concentrating practice, which involves starting the day with just a few minutes of focused attention whether on the breath, an object, or even a mental image. I treats focus like a muscle that needs consistent, dedicated practice to strengthen.
I found this relatable because, like exercise, building focus requires small, repeated actions over time. Adding just five minutes of dedicated focus practice each morning has already helped me center myself before diving into the workday.
And also emphasizes creating routines and managing energy levels, those tasks or interactions that drain our mental resources without adding value. This has helped me identify and limit activities that leave me feeling diluted.
For instance, constantly switching between tasks, jumping into activities, or checking notifications during focused work periods often saps my energy without yielding meaningful results.
Recognizing these patterns has encouraged me to set clearer boundaries and focus on what truly matters.
By dividing our attention, we miss out on valuable discussions, and it impacts dynamics and even our sense of accomplishment. Being truly present in events actively listening, contributing thoughtfully, and engaging in discussion can transform not only our productivity but our relationships with colleagues.
Focus has been a wake up call for me, urging me to reclaim control over my attention and use it more intentionally. It's reminded me that focus is not only about productivity but about creating a meaningful, intentional life. In a world where distractions are present, the ability to focus is a rare and powerful asset.
powerful reminder to bring intentional to conversate, gives full attention to those around me, and to treat each interaction as an opportunity for deeper connection.
