Chapter 604: Chapter 604: The Fishing Line Snapped and the Enemy Arrived
"I never thought you'd come here. Are you walking into a trap?" As Angela stood frozen, seemingly lost in some memory, a voice filled with surprise echoed. A mysterious figure emitting a terrifying aura appeared above Angela and her sister, looking down at them.
This figure was the same mysterious being who had previously discovered Angela's arrival in the Hell Dimension and sent subordinates to capture her. What surprised even this powerful being was that Angela had come to the Hell Dimension for her sister's soul, essentially walking right into a trap.
"Damn! Looks like we hooked a big one!" Meanwhile, back on Earth, Constantine's eyes lit up with excitement. He cast a spell mark on Angela's body, forcefully attempting to retrieve her soul.
With a hum, Angela's soul in the Hell Dimension trembled in fear due to the appearance of the mysterious figure. Suddenly, a gate to Hell appeared, quickly sucking Angela's soul through it, so fast that the mysterious figure couldn't stop it in time.
"Bastard!" the mysterious figure roared in anger, reaching a massive hand into the Hell gate, trying to snatch Angela's soul back.
"Hmm!" Constantine, seeing the situation, didn't dare take any chances. He used his mystical chains once more, aiming to bind the mysterious figure's hand, hoping not just to stop him but to capture him.
As the chains bound the mysterious figure's hand, just like with the other Hell creatures, a lot of green smoke emerged. But before Constantine could rejoice, a flash of light flickered within the smoke.
With a crack, the chains snapped, causing Constantine's heart to sink. He quickly formed more magical seals with his hands, closing the Hell gate on his side to prevent the figure from following through and endangering his life. Constantine realized he had caught a big fish, but the line had snapped, and now he couldn't even recover his losses.
On the other side, Angela slowly regained consciousness, recalling the events in the Hell Dimension. She felt deep regret and guilt, blaming herself for what had happened to her sister.
Hearing Angela's voice, Constantine and the Hell Baron turned their attention to her. Constantine was eager to get more information from Angela, hoping to identify the mysterious figure and bring Robert in to deal with him, to recover his losses and settle the score.
Angela began to recount her and her sister's childhood, including the time her sister apparently committed suicide. Both Angela and her sister had been born with the ability to see supernatural forces and spirits, a gift they had hidden from their parents. This had led their parents to think her sister had mental issues, causing her more suffering. Her sister had known Angela could see spirits too but never blamed her for not supporting her.
As Angela grew up, she convinced herself she was an atheist and that everything in the world could be explained by science. This self-delusion distanced her from the supernatural world she could once see, until she witnessed her sister's death.
Angela's sister had not committed suicide. She had been manipulated by a demon, making it look like suicide to others and even to scientific investigations. This was why Angela had been determined to find out the truth; she couldn't accept the idea that her sister had taken her own life, not until she had seen her sister's spirit and confirmed everything.
"Manipulated by a demon? You and your sister are both spirit mediums? That's not too uncommon; I know other mediums who are twins. But that shouldn't be why you two were targeted," Constantine mused, frowning. Angela's experience, while rare among ordinary people, wasn't unheard of in the supernatural world. There must be another reason they were targeted.
"I don't know. I've told you everything I know. I just want to ask one question," Angela looked firmly at Constantine, "Do I have a chance to kill the demons that killed my sister and avenge her?"
"The demons you're talking about were just following orders. They aren't much different from the ones that chased you. The real murderer is the owner of the voice you heard in the Hell Dimension. He's the mastermind. But killing him is beyond our capabilities... hmm?!"
Constantine abruptly turned to face the door, reacting to a sudden change, as did the Hell Baron.
"Are these the same Hell creatures that chased you before?" Constantine asked, eyeing the Hell Baron. "You could probably crush them with your big fists, right?"
"Heh, those were low-level creatures. These ones are high-level demons, even demon lords. They're not as strong as the big one we encountered earlier, but there are so many of them. Even with my strength, dealing with all of them would be exhausting. So don't expect me to handle this alone," the Hell Baron scoffed, sensing the approaching demons' powerful auras.
"Uh, didn't you hear me? The line snapped when we caught the big one!" Constantine retorted, not the least bit embarrassed.
With a thud, Constantine was sent flying. The one who struck him was none other than the Hell Baron. The baron, narrowing his eyes at Constantine, spoke in a low voice, "So you're saying you don't have those chains anymore? Then I can finally pay you back for using me as bait."
"Wait! This isn't the time for infighting. We still have other means. Don't make me waste them on you!" Constantine scrambled to his feet, shouting at the Hell Baron, clearly rattled.
"Heh, calm down. For the sake of the Saiyan, I won't kill you," the Hell Baron laughed coldly, not stopping his advance.
"Wait, why are you two fighting each other? Didn't you say there were enemies attacking?" Angela, confused and alarmed, shouted. She had expected these two supernaturals to be her allies against the demons, not to start fighting each other.
"Exactly. Even a girl with no experience in the supernatural knows this isn't the time to fight among ourselves. Your performance is disappointing," a voice said. Another Constantine, unharmed and smoking, stepped out from the shadows, smirking at the Hell Baron.
"You!" The Hell Baron's eyes narrowed, realizing he had been fooled. Constantine had switched places with a decoy, likely before the demons had even appeared.
"Not bad, right? This move is fresh for me, something I learned from Norse mythology, from Loki, the trickster god. Wonder how well I've mastered it. Would love to meet him and see," Constantine bragged, clearly pleased with himself.
"So, can we focus on dealing with the demons now? We can't run, not unless you're willing to leave Miss Angela behind. The demons will keep tracking her," Constantine continued, ignoring the baron's anger.
"I don't want to use a portal either. I want to kill them all, see if we can lure out that big one from before," Constantine proposed.
"If you can do that, go ahead," the Hell Baron replied nonchalantly, sitting down. "This has nothing to do with me. Besides, with my appearance, they wouldn't target me anyway."
The Hell Baron was clearly irritated, unwilling to help after Constantine had tricked him.
"Fine, just watch then!" Constantine said, heading into another room and returning with two guns and some bullets.
"You said you're a detective and you want to avenge your sister. Here's your chance. Hope your aim isn't too bad. My hideout isn't well-stocked, but it'll keep you safe until the bullets run out," Constantine handed the guns and bullets to Angela.
"Shooting demons? I tried that before; it didn't work," Angela hesitated, taking the weapons.
"That's because those were ordinary bullets. These are special, infused with holy water, mithril, and other magical elements. A blend of technology and magic," Constantine explained, leading Angela towards the door. Before they could reach it, the entire building shook.
Loud crashes echoed as if a demolition crew had arrived, shaking the ground beneath them.
